Andy and everyone at Avalon Flooring are awesome. As a carpet cleaning specialist, I occasionally run into a carpet or some flooring that needs to be replaced. Out of over 30 Flooring Retailers I know, Andy is one of three that I will refer my clients to. He is extremely knowledgeable, helpful and professional. I would highly recommend them to anyone!

When we remodeled our house in 2008, we had Avalon Flooring do all of our carpeting, linoleum, and hardwood flooring. Working with Kulani (who no longer is there) was great. He showed us all types of carpet and linoleum and when we came back with lower quotes was worked hard to beat them. He oversaw the project from start to finish. We had our entire kitchen gutted so we were laying linoleum directly on the concrete. Kulani saw the work area prior to installation. The day of the installation, he tried to charge us more money to grind the concrete down to make the floor level. We refused to pay since this should have been part of the original quote when he originally inspected it. The carpets that were layed in three of bedrooms were ordered wrong. The carpet for my son’s room was ordered for the master bedroom and vice versa. Avalon Flooring was able to get the correct carpet from the company and install the same day so there was no delay BUT if I had not been home, these carpets would have been installed in the wrong rooms! Our home had hardwood flooring under existing carpet, and in two rooms and hallway we wanted to pull up the carpet and refinish the existing hardwood. This is where you need to BEWARE. Apparently Avalon Flooring contraced this work out and the people who completed the work did it wrong. They replaced pieces of our flooring so that the hardwood butted up against the walls. There was no room left for the floor to expand – which hardwood does. WELL – this cold cold rainy winter proved to be a disaster. Because there was no room left for the hardwood to expand our livingroom floor buckled. When Avalon Flooring was contacted, we spoke to the owner Andrew Hurtado. We continually had to chase him to get him to respond. After MANY messages – even the contractor who did our remodel couldn’t get him to respond – he sent his current hardwood expert who told me that the floor had been done wrong. Andrew expected to us to pay to have the floor redone. He did not stand behind his work or the work of the contractors he sent. Furthermore, when Oscar was sent to cut the floor back so that NOW there was room for it to expand and to put the floor back together, Oscar put ¼ of the floor back instead of sanding the pieces down so they fit and would not buckle AGAIN. We were told the entire floor had to be taken up and redone. So the initial $ 1500 we spent on the flooring was only a drop in the bucket. When told to stop the work, Oscar offered to come back on his own – of course at for a price – and fix the floor.

I bought 300 square feet of red oak here for way less than the two big home stores. It was installed in two days. They put down the plywood, moisture barrier, and floor. It looks great. My sales person was a gentleman named Kalani (sp?). He was really kicked back, no pressure and very helpful. All the office staff are super friendly and help you instantly. Nobody acts like your bothering them with a question, they just help you. It was installed with no problems. The workers arrived at 8 am sharp! So be ready. Now we have a great looking add on that was once a disaster. Thanks to my peeps at Avalon!
