First time visiting this shop won’t be returning.
Pros: friendly staff was greeted and asked if I needed help, 7′ inch records labeled by GENRE
Cons: crowded while walking because boxes are on the floor, singles and LPS labeled by alphabet order I PERSONALLY don’t like it in my opinion wish it was by genre. Prices are expensive not worth it, so I left after digging through multiple boxes about 35mins and if your looking for funk/​soul or r&b this place sucks.

Old skool record store. Very tight spaces. You need a ladder to look at their 7″ selection. CASH ONLY. They sell only used records. Doesn’t look like they have anything past the 2000s and very sparse in the 1990s. Although I’m not sure about their CD selection.

I was visiting Long Beach and found this record store. It was a treasure trove of 12″ singles at good prices, which is what I was looking for. I spent several hours digging and came away with some good finds. It was also great to be able to listen to my records to be sure I wanted them. Be sure to visit. Friendly owner.

Hands down one of my favorite record stores to shop at for vintage records! I absolutely love this place! The owner (Steve) is one of the sweetest guys I’ve ever met. He is quiet informative of what he sells, and everything is priced reasonably. The store is small and compact, but I can honestly spends hours searching through the shelves. If you haven’t checked this gem out, you’re missing out!

Bagatelle is an amazing shop for record collectors. Countless times I’ve wanted a certain album or just something from an artist or band and went straight to this spot to scratch the itch. There are records and compact discs from floor to ceiling and in between so you’ll have a great time sifting but if you need some help the owner or the guys working are very cool and know a ton about the music they sell. Keep in mind that if you are looking for new albums you will not find them here. This store is basically 80’s and earlier for the most part and the prices are very fair. If you like classic rock, jazz, folk etc… don’t hesitate and bring cash. Thanks for the tunes guys!

My second visit to long beach and how did I miss this place the first time? Cash only so be aware.
From what I could tell it is a one man operation and thus guy is helpful knowledgable and fun to chat with. This place has a unbelievable selection. I found and saw many things I have been looking for or rarely see. Some of the rare stuff I had wanted he would have 2 copies. Screw eBay come here! Prices are very reasonable.
My only complaint is some stuff is not priced. You just need to ask him but it would be nice if it was priced. I can’t wait to come back.

Great spot. TONS of records, you would never be able to search through them all. Lots of old school, classic rock, jazz etc… not so much on the newer bands but that’s not why I go here.
I go here because Steve is friendly and knows his stuff. I had a great conversation with him while purchasing an old record from one of my favorite comedians. Can be a tad uninviting if you don’t break the ice first. Which I actually find to be a good thing.

One of my favorite records stores for what «I» dig for. His Records are always clean and affordable. I have bought tons of music from here and when he is at the record shows too. If your looking for cheap junk you will NOT find it here. Thank you! for not supplying garbage.

Awesome shop… definitely on the cramped side, but they know their stuff inside and out, and Steve is super friendly. I found some gems for very low prices.

I’ve been coming to this store for over 25 years. I’ve literally bought thousands of records from Bagatelle through the years. I’ve been to record stores in almost every country on earth and Bagatelle is quite frankly my favorite store on the planet. I collect mostly soul and funk followed by psych and exotica. I’ve never ever left empty handed.
Prices are generally 35−40% cheaper than you would pay at other stores.
Owner Steve Mintz is an expert on music dating back to the 50’s and beyond and also has an amazing sense of humor and will offer excellent life advice if you ask.
You won’t be disappointed!

Been coming to Bagatelle Records for over 30 some years, I used to also go to the store when his mother helped run it. Vinyl Lp’s and 45’s is what I have purchased here all in excellent condition as he doesn’t waste time with bad stuff with fair prices. One small well structured store with one person running it (Steve) And he’s great to hang and talk with. You want vinyl come here… «Nuff Said »

I LOVE this place. Hands down the best record store in the city. Went in last week with the little sis for her birthday and though she didn’t find what she was looking for I left with almost too many to carry lol The selection is incredible! There was a rare album I’d been wanting for the longest and they had it, brand new! And for waaaaayyyyyyyy less than what it goes for USED on Ebay. I kinda hate I found this place because I know where my spare time and money is gonna be spent from now on lol Bagatelle you’re alright in my book.

I can’t really say much more that hasn’t been said already from other reviews, so I’ll just chime in: If you want the kind of record store where you can find all sorts of vinyl treasures in good-​to-​great shape for the best prices you’re likely to find (in LA and the OC), then this is your kind of place! You might be disappointed if you are looking for specifics, but then again you might get lucky! I have had great luck finding some records I was looking for, great luck buying new records that I hadn’t heard before that are awesome and amazing. Steve is a great, very warm and friendly guy with a lot of music knowledge and wit and great storytelling skills. I look forward to chatting with him as much as looking through his great stock of records, priced to move!

One of my favorite record shops around town.
If you’re looking for a gem, but don’t want to pay what the other guys are asking for, this is your place. Their selection of Jazz and Rock is pretty impressive.
Steve knows his music, and is a great guy to chat with. I’ve picked up many records from this place, and don’t plan on slowing down. I love to support small businsesses, and love doing it when I feel i’m getting my money’s worth.

One of the best record stores in the country. It’s not the kind of place you come to with a list of records (like Amoeba, for example). If you come in with an open mind you will find incredible treasures. These albums are priced for music lovers. The last time I brought my son into the store, the owner asked him what kind of records he listened to and they had a really sweet conversation about music. Isn’t that what it’s all about?

He helps you find what you are lookinh for and doesnt seemed annoyed when you ask for help. Truly is a great guy! This place has a lot of variety and is extremely reasonably priced in my opinion. Very impressed with this place. I travel and visit every record store I can. I’m a music writer and own a record label, Ripple Music, so I’m keen to check out every store I can. This was small and cramped and not very inviting to new customers, which I think is very important in this day and age to get new people into music stores.
But what it lacks in ambiance it makes up with selection. The vinyl selection was amazing. Nothing new but some cool obscure rare finds at good prices. Found some great finds
Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Great experience. Ill be back next time I’m in town.

Bagatelle is basically a room stuffed with vinyl. Id say its a half rock, a third jazz, and a sixth everything else. Almost all (90%) of the vinyl are stored like books, spines facing out. It looked like the main rock section (N-​Z) was store on the shelves on the ground.
Basically Im trying to describe that its a pain in the ass to browse in this store.
No idea on what their pricing is, because I didnt find anything I wanted — No Queen, no Doors, no Pink Floyd… either this place is picked clean or I went on a really bad day.
