I had called and asked if they had a specific testing machine and was told yes. I was very specific in my description. I went into the appointment only to find that, no, they didn’t have it. Complete waste of time. The person said she had later verified with the doctor so why didn’t they call me back?

Super disappointed. My experience with the Doctor was pleasant enough. She was attentive and got my prescription dead on. The horror started in the front picking out glasses. The staff has zero knowledge of frames and lenses. Could not answer any questions. They tried to get me to pay over $ 900 for a pair of sunglasses. I explained and showed them I could get these same glasses and lenses anywhere else including on line for over $ 400 cheaper.
They checked with the Doctor and came back with «the price is the price, go buy them somewhere else then». Well, I did. Same exact pair, lenses and all for over $ 400 less elsewhere. My questions regarding the different types of lenses and colors were also answered at «elsewhere»
Buyer beware. This place is out to gouge you for all your hard earned dough. They are probably trying to pay for that new $ 150,000 machine they bought.
Shame on you Doc. Your sweet smile and demeanor is just a façade.

I loveeeee this place! Dr Tan is amazing! I’ve been coming here for a cpl of years and she has always been so attentive to my needs when it comes to my eyes! Having keratoconus sucks and it can be very frustrating if you don’t have the right specialist! Especially if they don’t listen to your concerns. Dr Tan has always been amazing when it comes to my eye concerns and goals! I always feel confident in her. I know my eyes are in good hands! She is also very amazing with kids!!! I have a four year old with astigmatism that isn’t very fond of doctors but she loves Dr Tan that says a lot! She is very patient with my child and caring to her needs and wants! My whole family goes here and I’m glad I found such a amazing doctor! Thank you Dr. Tan for all that you do for our family!

The worst customer service ever! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ANY PRICE.
A year ago I bought a stylish pair that I had my eye on. However the quality of the glasses were not up to standards and they broke.
I called them couple of times but they keep giving me even cheaper excuses. They’re not professional and sure won’t be doing business with them anymore!

I agree with all the positive reviews about Beach Eyecare Optometry and Dr. Tan (smart, smart, smart!). I’ve been walking around with an ill fitted pair of contacts (they were from another establishment) for two years, and she knew exactly what was wrong with them and explained to me in terms that I understood. All this time I thought my eyes were getting worse, but turns out it was my contacts and mismatched prescriptions. I felt immediate relief as soon as I put the new pair in, and I can actually see now. Thank you!

The fact that they didn’t return my call after I left them a message lost them my business.

My Mom called me in a panic one day saying she needed a new eye doctor and appointment right away. Of course, I checked Unilocal and saw the great reviews for Beach Eyecare. She called and made an appointment and a week later she called back raving of her experience. She said the office had the newest technology and equipment. The office staff made her feel comfortable and confident she made the right choice. The Doctor mentioned she had just come back from a conference in Scotland where she learned even more cutting edge ideas. Mom is happy so I am happy!

I got my glasses from here and the staff was friendly. But the reason why I gave a low rating is because the staff scratched my glasses (long scratch on my lens) after I asked them to tighten it for me. That mistake shouldn’t happen, if they were attentive. But she said she will get it fixed, which is fine cause I had no choice. I live like 4 hours away too. I paid for the shipping so they can ship me my glasses but it’s been a week. They haven’t received it from the lab. I been getting really bad headaches because I can’t see. Everything is blurry and it makes me feel so uncomfortable. Try working full time everyday without your glasses… it’s so awful. I’m just extremely disappointed… and upset. I hope I get my glasses soon before I go nuts.

The technicians are all very friendly and accomodating! The doctor is both knowledgeable and personable. I brought my four year old son in for his very first eye appointment, and the entire staff made him feel at ease and comfortable.

My mom’s eyes were starting to hurt a lot. I called the place, the receptionist checked if her insurance was accepted and next thing I know, we had an appointment set up. It was fast and easy considering some places won’t bother checking your insurance by phone.
When we came in on appointment day, the receptionist was very welcoming and helpful when it came to filling in the paperwork. Dr. Tan was just as welcoming if not more. My mom doesn’t speak or understand English too well so it helped greatly that Dr. Tan could speak Khmer. I’m sure this made it very easy for my mom to convey the symptoms and all that.
After the check up, Dr. Tan explained to her how to use the medicine and sent her off with the prescription. There is a Rite Aid very closely by so we used the prescription there. Right after we dropped off the prescription, the receptionist called to check on my mom to make sure everything went smoothly and to answer any further questions that may have popped now that some time passed.
My mom started the day nervous since she’s used to mean and dismissive doctors. She left the optometry relieved and happy with the level of service and care given to her here.
It’s been several weeks since my mom was given this treatment and I’m glad to say it’s still working! Her eyes aren’t swelling painfully anymore.

I went to this shop 3 different times, it was CLOSED every single time, with no sign or anything on the door! I dont think this business is running anymore! They just wasted my time!

One word to describe the staff at Beach Eyecare: Accommodating! Wait, a few more words: fantastic, nice, knowledgeable, humorous, patient…
Anyway, I came in with my BF to get an eye exam so I could get new glasses + sunglasses, and my BF needed new contacts. We made an appt over the phone and when we got there, we were admitted 3 minutes before our appt time which I thought was really nice. They offer you free coffee and small bottles of water.
The front desk staff is fantastic! All the ladies there are so nice and funny, and are really helpful. Dr. Tan is really chatty and loves to tell stories, but it makes you feel comfortable and at ease, like she’s been your friend forever and ever. She tells you the reason behind everything she is doing. She makes sure that you’ll get the best pricing and service.
I’ve been back about 3 times since then (picking up glasses/​sunglasses/​adjustments/​contact exams) and have had a pleasant experience each time. I would definitely recommend going to visit Beach Eyecare.

Venue: It is located in a busy plaza. The décor is modern with a minimalist touch. The layout is very welcoming and open for exploration.
Service: I came in with my fiancé and was immediately greeted by the staffs. The ladies were wonderful and was very attentive. Dr. Tan is a cheerful woman and really approachable. She is genuine and very informative.
Overall: I would definitely come back. :)

This is my review for my first visit, which included dilating my eyes, choosing frames and checking out.
First of all, I ended up here out of convenience. My buddy went to the dentist next door and although I’ve seen this office before while having lunch, I’ve never stopped in. I’m really glad I did!
Dr Tan is awesome! She took a lot of time to go over her process and explained everything she was doing. We discussed my medical history and how proper eye care is so important to my health. She was very engaging and made me feel like she really wanted to make a connection. I’ve gone to a few doctors where I was basically rushed in and out. Dr Tan made me like we were old friends.
Her staff was great too! Lisa took a lot of time to help me select frames and never made me feel rushed. I pick up my new glasses in about 2 weeks. I’m very pleased and will be back! I think I’ve found my permanent eye doc!

On top of that, the Optometrist is so personable and eager to educate you on how things work in the «eye world.» I didn’t have the short 15 min app., «hurry up and get your butt outta here» experience with Dr. Tan (?). She made me feel like I was her friend and didn’t mind me asking bunch of questions. I will be def coming back.

After poking around Unilocal for a few days trying to decide on an Optometrist, I decided to give Beach Eyecare Optometry a try, plus it gives me an excuse to get my fat on at Deli News among other things (Trader Joe’s also there!). Most Optometrists in the area were rated fairly similar, but this location is actual opened for business on a Saturday! Anyone with the Monday-​Friday, 9 – 5 schedule knows its such a pain in the ass to get anything done, y’know what I’m sayin’? YA KNOW?!
Anyways, This was my first time using my vision insurance, so I was a bit apprehensive for some reason. I wish I could remember her name, but one of the staff members took the time and thoroughly explained what was covered with my insurance. She was very patient, despite me asking the same questions a few times. Superb customer service!
Anyhoo, I did I got my pre-​checkup thing going and the young lady that was helping me was also very nice. I gave her problems too cause I couldn’t open my right eye wide and long enough for the gadgets and machines to took a clear picture haha. Oh I forgot to mention, they have a Keurig!
Moving on, finally when I was moved into the room, Dr. Tan instantly made me feel at home; shes very outgoing, down-​to-​earth and extremely knowledgeable. It was like, conversing with an old friend I haven’t seen in ages or something haha. Definitely made my eye exam enjoyable! Speaking of which, I had to retake another photo of my retina because I still couldn’t keep my eye opened even in the initial retake haha.
Best experience I’ve had with an Optometrist, Great selection of frames, they helped me pick one out and I’m very happy with what I ended up choosing. The frames fit perfectly on my face and do not squeeze my temples like most I’ve had in the past. I believe I have found my new doctor when it comes to my vision haha. Another rare 5 stars from me, and well deserved! Quality, knowledge and wonderful service, Beach Eyecare Optometry and Dr. Tan does it right!

I found this place on Unilocal as I was searching optometrists that were close to my workplace. What initially drew me in to make an appointment were the pictures on Unilocal.Everything looked so clean and modern that I wanted to give it a try. The pictures did not lie, but what really captured me was the kindness and warmness of the staff. They are so nice and pleasant and offer you coffee (from a Keurig!) or bottled water on arrival.
My eye exam was your normal eye exam, but the Dr. made it pretty interesting and fun. I was able to laugh and joke with her, and she even entertained my ever-​growing curiosity about the retinal scan and all my pretty inside-​my-​eye pictures.
Then it was time to choose my frames and I must have spent an hour trying to pick out frames. Again, the front office staff was very patient with me and helped me pick out a pair of Ray-Ban’s that I’m using right now on the computer. I loved this place so much that I made my co-​worker make an appointment with them and she loves them too! I even got a hand written thank you card in the mail from them for the referral!
Yes, there are many places you can go to for an eye exam. But don’t you want a five star experience, a friendly doctor and a warm and inviting office environment? But above all that, don’t you want someone who will be straight with you when you try on those $ 300 Oliver Peoples frames and they’re really just too big for your face. ;)

Dr. Tan and her staff are the most friendliest. I was able to get a same-​day appointment. I’m glad I decided on this place to try a different optometrist. They offer coffee or water while you wait. Dr. Tan is very personable! We talked like we were friends.
I was looking for a particular style of frames, to replace what I had lost. Aside from a few name brand frames, they also carry frames that are not branded so if you want to look stylin’ in some new glasses and are on a budget, I’d recommend coming here. They are well under $ 100.

I needed a new eye doc close to work so I got online and Unilocaled away. I had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Bunthay Tan this year for my annual eye exam. Dr. Tan was friendly, personable, thorough, patient, and very knowledgeable.
I can only use my VSP eye insurance to get contact lens or glasses (not both). Dr. Tan took the time to draw out the numbers to see which option was the better deal. She had a handy dandy laminated pricing chart and dry erase marker ready to show me the numbers. In the end, we went with contacts.
During one of my eye tests, I had to get dilated and she explained to me that during that test she will be looking at my retina in the back of my eye to see if it has thinned out. People with high rx like me (i’m at a –10 on my left eye and –8 on the right, eeeek!) should be more cautious about thinning of the retina. She used the analogy of a stretched rubber band. It really helped me to understand my eye health better and no other doctor has ever explained it that way to me before. It was very helpful.
The practice itself is clean, modern and inviting. The front office staff is very courteous and polite. I would recommend Beach Eyecare Optometry to anyone who is looking for an excellent optometrist who really cares about her patients and their overall eye health.
