Love this place! SconeAge bakery around the corner for scones and coffee… bjk has great stringers as well…

Awesome tennis center. The courts are well maintained. The tennis shop employees are very courteous and helpful. They have a lot of activity going on for enthusiasts and r&r. The center is located in Recreation park. Center court is good sized. The community is lucky to have this available. I watched part of a junior tournament here and these kids could play. The tennis instructor on center court looked like he was an excellent teacher. Seems to be a very together place.

Have been taking tennis lessons here through parks and rec since January 2014 and have had great instructors (Richard and Brahna). It is a deal to take lessons through parks and rec especially since this location is so close to home. The courts are clean, parking is great except for when there is a baseball game.

Great courts and easy parking. The staff is great and there’s always something going on in the evening so it’s a great place for a workout if you don’t have a partner. Their ball machine is reasonable priced too!

Very nicely maintained facility. The people that work there are really nice and very helpful. The clinics are really fun and Aba and Valter are great instructors. Highly recommend it here.

The good, the courts are great, lighting is nice for night time, and a ball machine with decent amount of balls, and oh yeah a ball pickerupper thingy. Parking is good.
The bad, the cost of the courts. They have «free» time for kids and seniors, but why not just make it FREE for everyone, especially during low-​times like midday??? LIke kids and seniors really need the free time.
The instructor here for group classes through the Long Beach parks and recs are a complete waste. Instructors always trying to sell you privates, so I stopped taking classes altogether here. Too bad Long Beach parks and recreation.
If I’m in the area, I just use the facilities, paid of course. Yea, people here are very timely, you better be done on the hour, or you be beaten down with nasty looks. What do you expect, you’re paying for an hour usage.

BJK Tennis is a neighborhood jewell. The courts are perfect and the staff is really helpful. I recommend renting their ball thrower… unless you’re one of those players who don’t need any practice. They usually have an available court or two.

This is a really nice facility, clean and in great condition. Yeah its $ 11 for one hour but so what? Split between two people that’s only $ 5 ½ bucks and worth it, especially when you can reserve a court and not have to worry about waiting for a court to open up at a «free» public court.

I came here today for a USTA Mixed Doubles sectionals and the courts look newly resurfaced and are clean! That makes me happy because most public or semi-​private courts are dirty. Then, the balls get dirty, which in turn gets your clothes dirty. The courts are slow, so be prepared to run a lot in matches. The wind screens are well maintained and clean as well.
It’s a very nice facility with a small pro shop and a stadium court with bleachers.
It looks like other reviews think the courts are expensive, but maintenance, resurfacing, and lights cost money. There are 8 lighted courts and if you’re picky about where you play, then come to BJK Tennis Center and you won’t be disappointed.

The coaches, shop people, and the people who come to BJK and El Dorado are really fun and nice. I’ve made so many friends here. If it weren’t for the shoulder injury, I’d be there more often… (except for Mr. F, who’s usually kinda mean and rude)

These are two separate facilities that are across town from each other. But it seems like they share an organization, as they have the same website:

BJK courts are NICE, but they are EXPENSIVE. Go across the street to Wilson High’s courts, they’re free. (On the other side of the high school from BJK courts.)
For El Do courts, you have to park in the Library parking lot off Studebaker and take the path across the grass. These cost money too. The next closest free court is far away, though. (Try Long Beach City College on Carson and Clark. Sometimes they charge, but only $ 3. Also, Mayfair park on Clark and South.)
Anyway, I took an adult drop in class at El Do and it was GREAT! Tuesdays & Thursdays, 7−930pm. No sign ups, just walk-​in. The only downside was it is $ 15 per class. Yikes! But oooh it was great. About 15 minutes of warm up followed by about 2 hours of drills. The instructors aren’t there to «teach» you, just to organize/​feed the drills, but they do know what they are talking about and they shout out pointers as you play. Then you end it by playing matches and/​or just going home early. I really loved it, it was a lot of fun. It’s for intermediate/​advanced, as you have to know how to play. Again, though, it’s $ 15 per class which is pretty steep (not that I’ve seen anything cheaper out there).

$ 11 for one hour on a tennis court?
Wilson High school courts are a few blocks away and are FREE (during non-​school hours – evenings and weekends).
And when they say an hour, they mean an hour. By the 55^th minute, you’ll have stereotypically snobbish tennis players lurking next to your court… and by the 59^th minute, you’d better be collecting your tennis balls and zipping up your racket.
The Wilson High courts are equally good in condition; you basically are just lacking the «air» of a «tennis center»…but you won’t be lacking $ 11.
