We specialize in CURLY HAIR. From Curly to Wavy. We know how to make YOUR curls work for YOU. Our Salon carries three curly hair product lines; Mixed Chicks, Deva Curl, and Morrocanoil that has no sulfates, silicone, or alcohol. We are all «DEVA inspired stylists» trained by Deva to do the «DEVA CUT» Our salon is excited to have stylists that love what they do.

Audrey Gallagher is our curly hair specialist, she also trained under Cindy the owner for a year, and is DEVA certified. She specializes in Goldwell color. She is great at up-do’s for ANY occasion. She is great with kids. She

is also Brazilian Blowout certified. This is her passion and she LOVES what she does!

History

Established in 2008.

I’ve been doing hair for 20 years and know that Curly girls need help. From haircuts to color and teaching how to embrace your curls. Being a curly girl myself, I wanted to share my knowledge with my clients. Specializing in Goldwell hair color is my passion. I love color and believe the right color for someone is the best gift I can give. It truly makes me happy to make my clients feel great about themselves.

I love doing hair even after 21 years. I started when I was 19 as an apprentice for a great salon in Sierra Madre, Ca. I did my internship for a year after graduating from beauty school. I still continue my education monthly with Goldwell color classes. I have been trained in Vidal Sassoon precision haircutting. I do love this method of cutting and recently became a certified «DEVA inspired stylist» to do a DEVA CUT. I love to go to classes, It keeps me inspired and up on current trends. So when my clients need a change, I am ready even if they are not.

I strive for 100% customer service and satisfaction. I feel people will spend

their hard earned money if they feel satisfied and taken care of. I offer complimentary beverages such as wine, beer, soda, coffee, tea and snacks.

If you’re a curly girl, you need to do yourself a favor and come here. My hair is thick, curly and long. I’ve committed myself to a natural hair care regimen and was recently in search of a stylist who was strictly dedicated to curly hair. Although I’ve been to a curly hair stylist in the past, my need for quality service and work had yet to be fulfilled. Having curly hair requires a distinguished effort which is evident in the results of the hair styling and health. So I take the investment of my time and money seriously with anyone who I allow to do my hair.
The salon is lovely from the outside and located in a great shopping plaza. There’s tons of parking and an ample amount of food choices if you hungry. Once I entered the salon I was surrounded by a warm rustic décor that made me feel welcomed. Everything was neat and organized, which I loved.
Cindy was so kind in her initial greeting and made me feel like she’d known me for years. She quickly begin the process by asking me what my intentions were for my hair and discussed options with me. From the very start, she was candid in her professional recommendation and was very knowledgeable. She was thoroughly engaged with the styling of hair and I appreciated that the most.
My overall experience with Cindy was one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve ever had with a hair stylist. Being able to have my vision developed into a reality in my hair was more than worthy of a 5 star review.
The prices are reasonable for the effort it takes to do hair like mine. The time it takes was worth every second. So if you have curly hair, don’t waste another moment without having this curly hair surgeon, operate her skills on your hair!!!

The 5 stars are for Audrey! I only went with her because I saw her Unilocal reviews! Not only is she super sweet but she takes her time explaining things about your hair. and the crazy part is that she doesn’t have curly hair! I have been working on my natural hair for over a year now so I was hesitant to go with someone and have them cut my hair. As soon as Audrey was cutting my hair it started looking healthy! This was just the cut no products in. She did things to my hair that I never thought would be possible. My curls had never been so moisturized and frizzless (is that a word?) before! Definitely going to keep going to her and I’m always recommending my fellow curlies to book her!
Also book in advance, my consult was booked in about a week but my actual hair cut appt was two months later, and that was for a weekday, a weekend wouldn’t be til 4 months later! So book way in advance, you certainly won’t regret it!!!

Today I had the most Amazing experience. I made an appointment with Cindy in August due to a home dye job and bad cut. I had done my research on Cindy and the Deva Cut she specializing in, I have very curly hair and it looked like a Lions Mane down to the middle of my back. It was time to get help. I arrived at the salon and was greeted by Cindy who makes you feel very comfortable.
She explained in great detail what the process was and went to it. Within minutes I saw a transformation and could not contain the smile on my face. I’m 52 years old and have struggled with my hair for years, this was the best experience I’ve ever had. My husband and children loved the color and cut, first time for that reaction.
I will never leave her or the salon. She’s stuck with me. She sent me on my way with products that were very much needed and a Great overall feeling. Can’t wait to see her in December for a touch up. If you have curly hair of any type do yourself a Huge favor and call Cindy. Love love love.

I am a curly girl and specifically sought out a specialist who knows how to work with curly hair so the repeated stream of Christmas tree hair looks (you curly girls know what I mean) would end. My prayers were answered when I met Audrey! First, she is a doll! Second, she is an awesome hair stylist… she cuts and colors my hair to perfection. Every. Single. Time. I love coming in a few minutes before my appointment and seeing what she does for other clients too… everyone looks like they feel a million bucks (and they look it too!). She is a miracle worker! Super cute location too. I can definitely recommend them without hesitation!!!

Audrey is amazing. My curls start dancing (like the cast in Grease when they’re singing, «You’re the one that I want! Ooh ooh ooh!») when they know we’re going to visit her.
There’s so much to love about Audrey, how do I count the ways?
1. She takes her job seriously. She’s a trained curly hair specialist and understands how us curly haired gals need a different type of cut and hair care regimen.
2. She’s informative. She usually starts advising me in the middle of the session.
3. She doesn’t push products!!! Seriously. She’ll make recommendations based on what they have in their salon but she’ll also tell you to feel free to experiment with other products (steer clear of those that dry out your curls!)
4. She’s damn good. We experimented the last time I visited and it turned out really well. I had her cut my hair really short and loved it! Also, got lots of compliments on my haircut.
So — in case you’re wondering… going to a curly hair specialist is pricier than a regular salon… but it’s worth it to go to someone who knows how to cut your hair so that you can love it. :)

Only recently have I attempted to embrace my naturally curly hair. I despised it for the duration of my childhood and into adulthood. I tried endless hairstyles, and product after product, which continually left my hair feeling weighed down or flat out crunchy, and all of which led me to continue straightening it. Truth is, I was just ignorant to the proper products and techniques necessary to help my curls look their best.
After lots of research (and before throwing in the towel and just getting my hair chemically straightened), I stumbled across the Deva cut. I booked an appointment with Audrey (who was highly recommended on a Long Beach thread about curly hair specialists), but I honestly contemplated canceling it several times, out of paranoia that my hair would end up looking like a poodle or a mushroom (as it had so many times in the past).
I had my appointment yesterday and I am thrilled with the results. Audrey explained everything as she went along, and taught me techniques to optimize my natural curls. My hair felt soft to the touch afterward, and it didn’t completely frizz up when I touched it, or when I slept on it overnight.

Cindy is absolutely amazing! No joke, I get great comments about my hair almost every other day. It’s been hard for me over the years to find the right highlights that complements my skin. For years, I could never find the right colorist who was able to understand and capture exactly what I was looking for — no gold, orange tones or brassy colors. Together, we must have spent at least 30 minutes talking about exactly what I wanted. I came with plenty of pictures too. Well, Cindy GOT IT RIGHT! We also talked about different techniques as well in order to capture the right look for me. I appreciate the knowledge she has about curly hair and tips on how to maintain.
Not only is she talented, but also so sweet and easy to talk to and relate to. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a fantastic curly hair specialist who actually cares about you and your hair. I’ll be back in again for the DEVA Cut once I grow my hair out a little more.

I am torn about this review. I usually wait to write reviews I like to base my experiences on more than just one visit.
My first appointment with Cindy was great. She taught me a lot of things about curly hair maintenance. I never had any problems or complaints about my hair after the cut. I could style it as I wanted, I could have it curly or I could have it straight and it would still be be even.
For my second appointment with Cindy, I had to let my hair grow very long so that I could donate it. My hair was long enough so that it wouldn’t be short even after I cut it. This second time seemed to be a struggle. I asked to have a V shape, I don’t like the boxy cut. I ended up with really short hair and there was no shape to it. Cindy knew I wasn’t thrilled and offered to give it more shape once it grew out, for free, so I let it go since it was all for a good cause and we all make mistakes.
So after a few days, I washed my hair and styled it myself and it was became obvious that my hair was uneven. Especially when I put it in a ponytail the unevenness was very noticeable. I emailed Cindy about it and she’s very graciously offered to fix it. So I come in and she gets to work on fixing my hair and she can see that it was uneven. She washed and styled my hair once again and it looked fine. But once again, once I put it up in a ponytail there were still unevenness and I can’t/couldn’t go back because my hair is already too short as it is.
What caused me to write this review is that today I straightened my hair. Even as I straightened the bottom portion of my hair is VERY uneven. At this point I have NO IDEA what I’m going to do. Probably keep it in a bun for the next 5 months or until it grows because ponytails and straight hair are waaaaayy out of the question.
It’s unfortunate that this happened. I really did like Cindy but I won’t be going back

This salon is nothing but good vibes. I came in to get a Deva haircut. I admit I was skeptical at first and a little uneasy when I realized how many inches were cut off. Audrey was friendly and knowledgeable. I’m shocked at how much definition my curls have despite the shorter length. The products she sent me with only enhance my new and healthier curls. I will definitely be back and highly recommend this salon.

Wish there waslorisalon an ‘A’ plus option. Chill is an exceptional salon. Owner Cindy is a tough boss who is well liked by her customers as well as her co-workers. It’s a well run salon with friendly, skilled stylist who take an interest in their client’s looks. This is a salon to get what you’re looking for all of your beauty needs. Curly girls — you have found your stylists. Audrey and Cindy are an amazing duo. I’ve been seeing Audrey since I moved to California and won’t go to anyone else. I always get a great cut, an amazing conversation, and really great tips for my hair for a very reasonable price. Audrey works with my schedule and knows that I need to schedule another hair cut before I leave her side. At first, it was a great way to keep me from doing anything stupid, like a last minute cut or a Groupon disaster (which I’ve done more than once and with this mane… it never turns out well). Now we schedule so I can look forward to my next visit with her! I always get compliments and while I sell her services to anyone, if you compliment my hair and have curly hair — I ask you why you are seeing anyone else. Go to Audrey!

This review is for Audrey Gallagher. If you have curly hair, you know how hard it is to find someone who understands how to cut it. After many traumatic experiences, I avoided hair salons for years until one day I finally found my stylist and hair soulmate (see my other review of Richie at R Rated Hair). It was love at first sight. Then, in 2011, Richie suddenly left. Once my hair recovered from the abandonment, the search resumed. One thing led to another, and I found Audrey reviewed on a website for naturally curly hair by another one of Richie’s former clients.
I remember how scared I was when I first met her. Let me just say it: Audrey has naturally straight blonde hair, but don’t let that fool you. My first thought was, how could she possibly know my black curls? After all, beauty schools don’t teach stylists much about curls. Those who know how to handle curls seem to have learned it at home by cutting hair for family and friends. Answer: because Audrey is a great hair stylist, that’s why! She has been trained in curly hair ever since she left beauty school, and specializes in Deva cuts. I appreciate that she always takes the time to explain how to use different products without pushing for you to buy any. She has even given me tips on color to purchase at beauty supply stores. I love the convenience of making all appointments online and being able to view her availability. She’s busy though, and sometimes it takes a while to get an appointment, so plan ahead. My hair and Audrey have now been seeing each other for 2 years, and unless she leaves town, I look forward to many more years of great curly haircuts.

Audrey and Cindy are fantastic! My 10 year old has kinky, curly, hard to manage hair and they knew exactly what to do with it. Gave her an adorable cut and told us how to manage it at home and how to keep it healthy! I was expecting the cut to be super expensive because she cut her hair by the curl, but it wasn’t! The products I bought cost more than the cut! Thank you ladies! We have finally found people who know how to cut curly hair!

I just went back to see Cindy after almost a year since my last haircut and her new locale is lovely.
Once again, it was an uplifitng experience in every way. She cleaned up my bushy hair, gave me some styling hints and never once pressured me to make another appointment or purchase any products.

First, Cindy and Evelyn are phenomenal as ever but the atmosphere in the new salon, Hush, is not as good as when they were in Chill. The salon is busy and doesn’t offer the tranquil spa feeling Chill offered. Also, although I am thankful they allow Deva cuts at Hush and allow the Deva products, it is evident they do not respect the extra training and care it takes to do a specialized curly girl cut. After my cut, it took Evelyn several minutes to find a single tee-shirt towel to dry my hair… not her fault… they just don’t have them. The chairs are not designed to allow the client to slide down to be diffused and the I only hope the stares from some of the other hairdressers were just curiosity.
I will continue to go to Cindy and Evelyn because they are great… the salon not so much.

Outstanding!
From the moment you walk in the the door, you’re warmly greeted into the chic setting by Cindy, owner of the salon. Having followed Terance, a precocious expert on men’s hair, from Newport, the Arts village in L.B.etc, I find that he has found his best haircutting home (and this is saying a lot since his last salon was featured on Bravo!)
We’re looking forward to check out the custom airbrushed tanning and the artfully designed Cactus Island arrangements by Albert Daniel.

Don’t judge a book by it’s cover… this place looks chic and cool, but it’s not. Not an «Oasis». I made an appointment specifically thinking I would get a cutting-edge style, but I couldn’t have been more wrong.
The whole time I just felt like the hairdresser was trying to get me out of there. She must have been having a bad day or something because she was not personable at all. Ive heard that these women are super nice too. But maybe i just came across one of those days… or not. Anyway. did not like my hair at all. When I got home I noticed that my layers were so uneven. I was soo pissed. Such a waste of money. But I guess thats what I get for trying to try something new. I ended up just going to my old girl and had her fix it. Should have just stuck with her in the first place.
Definitely dont waste your time here. Theres plenty of other hair salons on 2^nd st.
