Eknath Deo, MD, FACP D.

Business Owner

Dr. Eknath Deo is Medical Director at Coast Hematology-​Oncology Associates and is Director of Oncology at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center Todd Cancer Institute. He is an awarded Fellow of the American College of Physicians and maintains licensure in California and New York.

He is Triple Board Certified in Hematology, Medical Oncology, and Internal Medicine; and has years of clinical experience in addition to his background in clinical research. He is Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at UC Irvine and Consultant Hematologist-​Oncologist at all hospitals in the Long Beach area.

Dr. Deo, a cancer survivor himself, lost his sister to Leukemia at a young age. It was this loss that directed him to becoming a doctor to help cancer patients.

Absolutely the most caring group of doctors and medical staff. I was diagnosed with leukemia last November and Dr. Vora has seen or spoken to me almost every day since. He’s been by my side every step of the way. Most importantly, he’s never seen me as a disease. He’s always seen me as me. Through the scariest time in my life I’m lucky these are the doctors seeing me through it.

worst wait time ever! been trying to rule out illness, so im not sitting in the open treatment area. this is the second time they «forgot» me in room 4. even after I specifically stated «don’t forget me this time». been here an hour and 25 min. last appt was 90 min and the one before that was nearly two hours while they debated on what tests to run. this is nuts. im about to leave without seeing vora. I need to get back to my job. I don’t see myself coming back here again.

I had to see a specialist for a low WB count and was referred to a hematologist, Dr. Deo. While a visit to the doctor is hardly a rave-​worthy experience, I have to say that Dr. Deo was one of the most personable physicians I have ever dealt with. He took time not only to listen to my concerns but also to find out about me as an individual. While I had blood drawn, I had the opportunity to watch the staff interact with other patients. I was impressed by their professionalism balanced with care and patience (no pun intended). In sum, if Dr. Deo was a primary physician, I’d go to him/​recommend him in a heartbeat. My overall experience was extremely positive.

We were referred to Dr. Deo’s office when my aunt was diagnosed with Lupus, I have to say I was surprised from the first phone call. The girl on the phone promised us that we no longer had to «worry about a thing» and it was true. We were greeted warmly and with genuine concern. Both the Doctor and the Nurse were open to our questions and explained every step. The office really seemed like a close group between the staff and the patients, and it was nice to get to know other families going through similiar situations.
The waiting room felt too small, and we waited fifteen minutes past her original appointment time, but by the time everything was done I can say my aunt thinks it was worth the wait.
We are scheduled to return in two weeks and it will be nice to discuss treatment options after finding out more information.
