Deli Cleaners And Alterations

After having crappie service at my local dry cleaners, I needed a button added and a strain removed from a favorite sweater. The people I dealt with were very friendly, the time wasn’t very long for the alteration and the spot came out. Will drive out of my way to use them again.

I will never go here again. I wish I had read the Unilocal reviews about alterations. My brand new blouse (still with tags) came back with the sleeves shorted (which is what I paid for), plus a hole in the sleeve. Not only would he not pay for the blouse or refund the money I paid for the alterations, he wouldn’t even try to have it fixed.

The dry cleaning is sufficient, nothing to write home about. But do not come here for alterations. Check out the other reviews here on alterations – they’re just not good at alterations and have no business offering them! They clearly do not have a good working knowledge of fabrics and the general mechanics of clothing.
I brought in a sweater with a moth hole in it. I asked the person at the counter whether he could fix it. He was free to simply say «no.» Instead he said he could fix it and although it would not look perfect it would come close. He charged me over $ 5. When I picked it up he placed the sweater on the rack and was calculating my final price when I started to look at the sweater in detail. He looked irritated that I was doing this and just blurted out the price that was due. I thought this was rude since I was clearly looking over the sweater, it was like he was trying to stop me from examining the service that I paid for. Keep in mind the place was empty and no one was behind me, so there is no reason to rush me. So I finish looking at the sweater and the mending of the hole looked very amateurish. It looked like he just quickly went over it several times with a needle and thread and kept on getting the thread caught in the hole and did not bother to straighten out the thread … there were loops of thread coming out from the mended area! So basically there’s this sweater with what looks like a ball of thread in the middle of it with loose loops of thread coming out from the ball. It looked ridiculous.
I asked the guy at the counter why there were loops of thread coming out from the mended area. He dead-​panned and said: «It’s a sweater. You can’t re-​weave the thread.» Yeah, I get that it is a sweater, but there shouldn’t be loops of thread coming out from the middle of it! And if his attitude was «It’s a sweater, you can’t re-​weave the thread,» then he should have said so when I first brought it in! I asked him if he could at least discount the price, to which he refused. Then I told him I was disappointed in the service and that I could have just done the mending myself given the poor quality. He could have offered to re-​do it or at least say he was sorry that I wasn’t happy with the service.

Last time I go there. What a waste of money.

I’ve been coming to this cleaners for some time now (not regularly) but it’s usually my go-​to place. After the kindness the guy showed me today, I will definitely be back in the future. Thank you!

Service is good get my stuff back on time and never had problem at all. Hard to find good service and this place will deliver.

I tried several places and none are as good as this cleaners, I need cleaners for work uniforms, they do altering, cleaning, pressing in a timely manner and pieces r always ready when they say they will be.

I don’t feel too good about giving a place such low stars, but I am not pleased at all. I was just passing by and decided to get a patch sown on for one of my uniforms. Pretty simple directions… centered & 1 inch from shoulder. I was also told and was written on my receipt that it would be ready by 1 pm 2 full days later. I went an hour early to pick it up, it wasn’t ready. I thought that was awfully irresponsible of them to not have it done by now when its just sowing on one patch. I went back home and was called that it wouldn’t even be ready by 1 pm like the receipt said. Great. I went back later in the day just to be safe and not make a third trip. Fortunately, it was done this time.
I went home and upon inspecting my uniform, I noticed the patch was was ripped on an edge now so it had some stuff sticking out. Additionally, it was not centered and instead slighted slanted towards one side of the sleeve. My supervisor is a bit of a stickler for uniform appearance so now I will probably have to buy a new patch and get it re-​done. Now I have to spend more money and waste more time on something that should have been a cakewalk. I will not be coming here again. Complete waste. Can’t speak for the dry cleaning aspect, but definitely don’t come here for alterations.

As a long time patron of Deli Cleaners, I find that the owner, Kenneth Haldane, is a shining example of professionalism and customer service. When I first moved to the area, I was still going to another cleaner, purely out of familiarity and comfort. I stumbled upon Deli Cleaners and wanted to give this business a try. Albeit the service was a few dollars more than the other cleaners, what «sold» me was that Ken took the time to know my name and truly appreciated my business, rather than the other establishment that frequently saw me, gladly took my money, but never wished to properly thank me (a paying customer) for my returned patronage. I never even received a smile. However at Deli Cleaners, Ken happily greets me by name upon every visit. I have never once been dissatisfied with anything I’ve ever received from him. If you live in the area, this NEEDS to be your cleaning and alterations place.

I was searching for a reputable leather cleaner and found Deli Cleaners. After reading some of the reviews I was hesitant but took my motorcycle jacket here anyway. I found the owner to be a nice and friendly man. I needed to have a slight mildew odor removed as well as clean all the patches and leather. When I picked it up not only was the odor gone but the jacket actually looked better than when it was new.
I’ll come back and have. The service is great, prices good and it’s easy in and out.

I have been using this place for over 5 years. I like the service so much that I still take my clothes there after moving from Long Beach to Orange. The personal comments about the owner are off base and uncalled for.

Ken helped me out on a time crunch in getting a suede jacket back in time. He went out of his way to get it to me. He was very generous with his time and effort. I just wish I lived closer to make using him regularly more feasible. I will definitely return to him though. Thanks Ken, great job and great customer service!

Just started using this place a few months ago and I think they are great! Friendly service and they turned out some alternations in very quick time. The cleaning I have done has been wonderful and the prices are good. Glad I found them and that they have been around for awhile.

This place is great! I get all my shirts and slacks cleaned here and Ken the owner is awesome! And there is always a coupon to save money on the total.

This business is conveniently located near the Bixby Knolls/​California Heights area. Prompt, courteous service & reasonable prices. They were able to dry clean a suede leather hat for me & it turned out great. I would definitely use them again.

In finally gave up on this place after being a customer for several years. Ken, the owner, is very nice — obsequious, even — until something isn’t right. Then, he’s no use at all. And their alterations are to be avoided. Over the course of several years, this is what went wrong: (1) zipper repaired on a pair of pants. Got them home and zipper was stick-​y, but I hoped it would work out over time. No such luck, on the second wearing it broke. Took it back. Ken implied I had broken it somehow but reluctantly replaced it. Pant hems have not been well done: highly visible stitching, pulled seams, etc. I gave up on their alterations after several attempts. (2) A suede jacket was completely faded after cleaning. Ken’s only response was «oh, didn’t you sign the waiver form?» (no I did not) and «oh, cheap suede is usually sprayed, not dyed, that’s why it fades». (3) I had an expensive, hand-​woven cotton jacket. I was nervous about having it cleaned. I ask Ken if they offer an ‘extra delicate’ or ‘fragile fabrics’ service. He basically laughs at me, so I take the jacket home, uncleaned. Then I notice that, over time, the quality of their routine cleaning has substantially degraded — clothes are more chemical smelling and have a harsher finish, pressing more slap-​dash, etc. I finally gave up and went to another cleaner. Too bad.

Alterations are quick and professional, cleaning is thorough and service is very friendly. I’ve never had a better experience with a cleaning-​alteration place. Also, the gentleman at the counter was very amused when I asked him to fix my (plush) octopus.

Well, I don’t know why this place has such horrible reviews!
I have taken my uniform here a few times, and not only are they fast, but the cleaning is excellent.
Bonus points here, I get a call when my clothes are ready for pick up.
Gotta bring in a skirt for alterations, let’s see how that works out :)

wouldn’t use any other dry cleaner. owner is there day to night every day and somehow manages to be quite friendly. i feel comfortable when i hand him my clothes. i know it will come back fine.

used once last week on fiancée’s wedding clothes, got to our destination and there were 3 spots on the front of his white shirt… needless to say he was livid as he didn’t have a backup. wont be going back there.

Tailoring was improved, but still very poor. NOT HAPPY! Do not go here for tailoring, they will RUIN your clothing.
