and was very disappointed with the limited number of dentists available in the Portland area. From what I can tell, only two within 5 miles from where I live and both have mediocre reviews on Unilocal.Yikes! Seems like a scam to me.

I have been on the phone for over two (2) hours today just trying to update this company with my new banking information. I was hung up on twice and put through to a Que where 35 people were waiting before me twice! Then at 3:15 this afternoon I thought I would give it one last try and there were zero (0) people ahead of me and the message on the phone was to keep waiting or leave a message and be called back in 2 days. I can’t believe how rude this company represents itself to the public! At least tell your customers you have closed for the day when they call again! I did leave a message for a return call, if you will follow through to do that, you might get to keep me as a customer.

So, even though the wait is long on the phone, they get the job done to help me. Sylvia help me with a long time big problem with my previous dentist who gave me grief and withholding my refund. After so much struggle and frustration I’ve been through dealing with this by myself, Sylvia help me file a claim and got me my refund back! Finally progress and accomplished! :D THANK YOU AGAIN!

Run the other way if you see this company website. They are not there to help you. They just take your money. If you see any positive reviews they are probably fake ones.
They charge you a higher rate if you do happen to use the insurance. There is a problem with this business in all the categories. Trying to get through on customer service is the longest hold time up to an hour or longer. A call back option that may be 2 days waiting and the auto answer tells you there are 35 people waiting ahead of you. The services I signed up for was dental insurance coverage but the dentist office tell me this type of insurance is worthless. Now when I try to cancel the contract, it took months to get the correct form to fill out and mail back with certified mailing. From the website to the costumer service, this company makes it impossible to leave their contract and they will keep automatically billing your bank account. The regular amount is $ 34.53, however one month when my husband did go for a cleaning, he paid the dentist $ 50.00 then the next month we were billed $ 60.00 by Dental Health. Why? Because we used their service. Seems more like Pay as you go and not Dental Insurance at all. Their website has no real information at all and should not be allowed to operate.

Nope! DO NOT buy insurance from this company! Do you like waiting on hold for 30 minutes? Well you definitely won’t like waiting on hold for an hour and 15 minutes! Even if you call them when they first open, you will be wasting an hour of your time waiting on hold. You won’t get a callback either, so don’t do that. Just wait an hour and 20 minutes that it takes to get a rep on the line, and then CANCEL this extremely poor insurance.

Very difficult to work with. Website is very difficult to read. After signing in, instead of being able to see my own plan information, it only shows what else I can purchase.

Their online system is not helpful at all! When you log in to make a payment you cannot review the amount you are paying or get a summary of your account. I logged into my account on Monday and made a payment & started calling since Wednesday to confirm receipt of payment as I did not get any confirmation of payment from their system. Their phone System gave me the option to get a «call back» & I wouldn’t lose my place in line. I never received a call back! I am still trying to get a hold of a member services representative and waiting for a call back, which I doubt I will receive!
This gives the impression that their services all around are horrible. If they can’t even get their online system right what can they get right?

Try to use their website to search dentist by City. It never has been success.

Impossible to get assigned to a dentist. Zero customer service and zero website capabilities. Go elsewhere before you are stuck.

Terrible! I can’t emphasize that enough.
Where to begin. They automatically renewed my policy without my permission and then charged me a $ 50 fee to cancel.
Among my list of additional complaints:
Rude and disrespectful customer service
Benefits that don’t cover anything (even when you buy the more expensive plans).
Pushy dentists who try to get you to do work you don’t need (I got a second and third opinion)
Dirty, I mean really dirty, no I don’t think your getting this, really dirty dentist office full of boxes. It looked like a storage unit. Yes, I know they don’t control the dentist office but this was the only dentist in my area that was covered by their insurance.
I wouldn’t recommend this provider unless you’re looking for discounted services, don’t mind a little tetanus, and are the type of person who likes being ridiculed and pushed around.

New to there services, and I had an emergency dental problem the most excruciating pain I had ever felt jaw swallon went the first dental office that would see me. The dental office called this insurance, I called insurance office and was on hold for two hours, went on line to check benefits to no avail and ended up paying the initial down payment and a promisary note, only to find out after work was done that they would not cover this particular office because they are an HMO!
Aggravated had they answered the phone in a timely manner I would have known that I had to go to another office! And not to have work completed at this WONDERFUL DENTIS OFFICE WHICH IS GELLATIN DENTAL IN DOWNEY, CA, which they did taking a chance! And now I’m stuck with a bill that should of been covered by them!!! Avoid this company if you can … Now I have to hope, Pray they cover at least partial… Shame on them if they don’t!

Their buggy website simply does not allow me to enroll. Did they ever tried to use it themselves?

Very restrictive network. I can’t find an in-​network decent dentist in all of Portland, I have to drive out to the suburbs. The website is useless and customer service is lacking. Best part: they auto-​renew your plan after one year and make it difficult to cancel!

Where is the 24 hour 7 days a week help? Since using this a couple years ago, the company has now instituted a two month cancellation fee which is another $ 100 as long as you cancel by the 14^th of the month. I got charged for an additional month when I cancelled the last time, but they did reimburse me after I provided proof of my contact with them. FYI, I always note the date, time, and who all I speak to whenever I have to handle this type of situation. It was very helpful.

. I was called a couple weeks later told that I needed to make a payment immediately or would be dropped. I don’t like to give out credit card info over the phone but I did due to the high pressure of the situation. When I got off the phone I wondered if I had been scammed. Well I was! I went online to the list of providers and I was shocked to find that NO dental office in my area had a higher Unilocal review than two stars. Gasp! These are my teeth people and I refuse to let some cut rate, underqualified, porcelin polishers inside my mouth. Read the reviews, these dentists have screwed up people’s teeth or scammed them out of thousands. These are the bottom of the barrel dentists.
I called back to cancel and was informed that because I made the first payment I was now unable to cancel. They said I could appeal and never sent me the paperwork. I did call one of the dentist and they told me with this insurance I would need to pay $ 150 out of pocket for the basic cleaning and X-​ray. The cost of the insurance was approximately $ 200 for the year. I could have gone to my awesome, 4.5 star rated dentist for that price. This insurance is a scam and complete waste of money!

Worst customer service ever. Although the dentist they recommended to me was a good one and the rate was better than going it alone when I got regular dental insurance I tried to cancel and the run around began in earnest.
They said I have to sign an «enrollment» form which is the opposite of what I want when I am cancelling. When they sent the email it went to my spam folder. The address they sent the «secure» message to did not even respond. So after spending an hour on hold I am back to square one. Additionally they want to charge for the month I am in plus 2 more months.
This is a terrible company.

I spoke to Jason this morning re: a bill that I wanted to dispute with my dental office, and Jason was so kind to take my questions and dispute and contacted my dental office. Jason called me back as promised with great news!!! I appreciated the excellent customer service he provided to me.(also, Jason went over and beyond by giving me advice on my personal dental insurance needs for the future) His patience and diligence personified what «excellent» customer service should be. Thanks Jason for being s great team member at Dental Health Services!

Their website is completely useless. It doesn’t allow you to access information on your account. Every time you click on a link, it just takes you to the log in screen. They don’t provide you with a monthly invoice, they just draft your account.
They aren’t very helpful when it comes to locating a dentist. They just provide you with a list without any background information.
I think it’s time I look for something else.

Terrible customer service. Its impossible to get ahold of anyone as they keep you on hold until you choose to hang up. Even they call back numbers are a joke as I have never received a call back.
My advice is don’t do it.

OK this place is a terrible solution. It may be the low cost leader for insurance but that’s because it’s NOT INSURANCE. This is the solution for employers who want to pay less for their employees so they buy this crap plan.
You have to pay for each procedure. You cannot see your regular dentist.
If you have a child you cannot see a kid’s dentist.
The network is full of bottom of the barrel dentists who need patients so desperately they will sign up to get nothing back.
Try calling them and you will be on hold for hours. THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE AND I WILL NEVER EVER BE INVOLVED WITH THEM.
