Double Q Events

I was engaged for a year before getting in touch with Hazel and diving deep into the wedding planning process. I had never planned a major event, or have been part of planning a wedding before, and my prior years’ attempt in trying to do it myself left me completely frustrated, crying (literally), and even more confused than when I started.
From the moment I first spoke on the phone with Hazel all my worries were pacified; not only did I find a planner to make my wedding a reality, Hazel «got» the quirky and not so traditional vibe my fiancé (now husband!) and I were going for in our wedding.
In short, she made wedding planning a dream and guided us step by step; from taking us venue shopping, picking out caterers, negotiating contracts. to just coming by and helping me put together our invites. Not only did she help us stay perfectly within our budget WITHOUT compromising what was important to us, she SAVED us money by negotiating some of our contracts and getting us in touch with quality vendors/​businesses that fit within our budget.
Not only was the planning process easy, we has so much fun at our wedding. Didn’t have to worry about a thing– drunk family/​friends, flakey vendors, setting up, tearing down, cleaning… it was all managed perfectly. Thank you Double Q :)

i come from a logistics background. it’s what i do for a living. so you can just imagine the feeling of frustration i felt when it came down to planning my wedding. my knowledge about anything wedding related ran on minus zero. where does one go to for all matter of resources and ideas to make it all work? i’ll tell you where and who: hazel. her background as event planner is well diversified and it shows in her ability to customize scenarios with aplomb, even at the very last minute. planning with her you get a sense that she’s seen it all and if she hasn’t she can certainly come up with a plethora of ideas to choose from, ranging from practical to grandiose. each person’s budget and tastes are unique, but i can say with confidence that hazel’s experience, use of wedding planning software, and professional demeanor make for a steady handler for such a volatile an experience as wedding planning is. so many things can go wrong with this kind of planning, but she will help you ground every idea you have and see it implemented smoothly. personally, going into all the wedding planning, i only had a vague idea of what my wedding was going to be like, but by the time the day of my wedding rolled around, every single concept was fleshed out, handled and implemented so beautifully, i could not have asked for a better wedding. from the handling of the caterers, to the synching up of the DJ, to the cake and photography booth, and every other transition of the ceremony and reception, i’ve never felt as fantastically at ease as i did letting hazel take care of every aspect of the wedding. she is a true organizer at heart and has a great ear for understanding what one wants and how to maximize a couple’s budget to fill those wants. i highly recommend hazel, her experience and aplomb in such an important day are invaluable. you want her on your corner, looking out for you on your most important day. i did and it was indeed, a most wonderful and unforgettable day.

It’s been approximately 10 months since our wedding and in a nutshell, I can say that I’m super thankful for excel spreadsheets and Hazel Q. Having never planned a major event, I was terrified about planning a smallish wedding with an even smaller budget. Couple that with adopting a DIY philosophy, I seriously thought I could do it all. I couldn’t. That’s where Hazel came in. She helped us organize our ideas, see them through, advise us on the significant and insignificant, and more importantly, she helped us stick to our budget without judment.
Hazel researched and organized excel spreadsheets with the items we needed and different price points. Her floor plan software was on point when trying to figure out our layout with the limited space we had. She’s a crafter as well, so she knows all hidden fabric/​craft store gems all over LA and OC. She took care of being in contact with the vendors, venue, and rental places to make sure everything ran smoothly. And everything did. She kept everyone on check during the rehearsal, set up, ceremony and reception, and executed beautifully. Yes, that even means knowing who not to give the mic to gracefully (my mother).
Hazel and her husband Mike also helped us tremendously with our photo booth as they played photographer and photo printer. As soon as our guests took pictures, their pictures were printing and ready to take home. A few days after the wedding, we had all the pictures emailed to us. I still go back and look at all the pictures and can’t help but smile. All our guests had a great time and it was enhanced by the memories captured in the photo booth. On a side note, it’s so incredible and inspiring to see how Hazel’s husband Mike is so supportive and a part of her team immediately. He helped with our set up and so much more. Talk about an exemplary supportive couple that we can all hope to be like.
Now that I’m thinking about the wedding, I can’t stop beaming. We had the support of all our family and friends. If you’re thinking of doing everything on your own, you can. But it’ll be really stressful and time consuming. Do yourself a favor and enlist help. With Hazel’s background in wedding and venue planning, combined with her own DIY and crafty nature, you are sure to make the wedding of your budget and/​or dreams come true.

Hazel was our wedding planner and we cannot thank her enough for all her amazing ideas and seamless execution of our ceremony and reception. She did it all, from helping me pick out fabric & actually making our table runners for the tables at our reception, to making sure everything started on time so we got the max benefit of the time we had at the venue.
Planning a wedding seemed like a daunting task as we got into discussing the details, and though we were lucky to have help from our parents, we still were on a limited budget with only 5 months to get’r done. Hazel was fantastic! She is so organized! She had a ton of great ideas and asked questions about me and our taste, which she would then look into and always came back to me with fresh ideas like our beautiful DIY succulent centerpieces-​green was our accent color so these were PERFECT. I really loved the way everything turned out! She had the attitude that nothing we wanted was out of reach, it was all do-​able, and within our budget. After the first meeting I was positive we were in good hands. She dealt with the staff at the venue, the deliveries on the day of our wedding, made sure all the presents made it into our car. All the big stuff, and all those little things that might have fallen through the cracks had she not been so on top of everything. Throughout the entire process, really just knowing she was there behind the scenes put me at ease :)
Also, something I feel I owe her a special thanks for was the way she handled the roughly 15 unconfirmed folks that came to our reception. We were on a different floor doing pictures and had absolutely no idea. She dealt with the restaurant and had people seated by the time we made our grand entrance. It’s been a year and I still can’t stop smiling about how special our ‘special day’ was thanks to our fantastic planner and Jane of all Trades, Hazel. Bravo!
