Dr. Doug Emery graduated from Carroll College with a BA in 1982 and from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry with a DDS in 1985. He is also a member of the ADA, CDA and Harbor Dental Society which he has served as the Foundation Treasurer for over 20 years. His passion is the Long Beach Rotary Club. He serves on the golf committee and recently participated in Camp Enterprise where Rotarians took local high school students on a retreat to help teach them leadership-​business skills.

Dr. Alyson Emery graduated from UCLA with a BS in 1982 and from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry with a DDS in 1985. She is a member of the ADA, CDA, and Past President of the Harbor Dental Society. She will be inducted into the American College of Dentists at the ADA Convention in October. She is an active member of the Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. Since 2003, she has been involved with National Charity League where she served as President in 2008.

Had an appointment with Dr Allyson Emery today. She had to remove my bridge (which was 30+ years old) fill a cavity that had developed under my bridge and put a temporary bridge on. Dr Allyson and her assistant Maria were wonderful! She numbed my mouth and I never felt a thing! I’ve been going to Dr Allyson for over 10 years and will continue to drive the 15 miles through traffic to have Dr Allyson and her staff work on my mouth. Highly recommend Dr Allyson Emery!

I love my dentist, Dr Alyson Emery! She has been my dentist for several years. Before going to Dr Alyson I had many dental problems. Since she has been taking care of my teeth, I have not had to worry about my crowns falling out and paying big dental bills. She is highly skilled, thorough and detailed. I always leave knowning that my teeth have been cared for and protected. Her fees are reasonable and the staff is very warm and helpful.

I have been going to Dr. Douglas for a couple of years now for regular maintenance. I finally decided on a smile transformation (cosmetic dentistry) and I cannot stress how beautiful my smile is now! My teeth were really not bad at all, however, I believe that teeth can really age a person, and I was ready for an uplift, but not on my face! Dr. Doug is an artist. He is an absolute perfectionist and has the patience and talent to create the perfect smile. It was worth everything involved, and I could not be happier with the results! He is truly the consummate professional and expert at cosmetic dentistry, and if anyone is considering an upgrade to their teeth, he is the one to go to. Of course, he is an all around perfect dentist: careful, compassionate, ensures there is not a bit of discomfort or pain, and on top of that he has a wonderful personality. Hard to believe that going to the dentist can be a great experience!!!

I took my mother in law in to see Dr. Alyson Emery today and have never had a more amazing experience at a dental office. We went to see her to get a second opinion on my mother in laws case. A dental office never felt so right. Dr. Emery explained thoroughly some options that she was thinking while also being mindful of our max budget. She gave us such an amazing experience that we will for sure be having our work done there. Such a morally and ethically wonderful dentist!

I never really told you guys, so let me say it here. Your practice is first class in every way. A great staff, a patient-​focused approach, and the latest in dental technology. I’m an old customer as you know and I am overdue in giving you the praise you deserve. Just yesterday Dr. Doug saw me on the same day I called in for an impromptu oral exam. Who could hope for that at some other practice? And of course Dr. Alyson and Melanie have been forced to endure my bent sense of humor for longer than any human being should have to. So that’s on me. Most important of all, you are great dentists. All these years in, thanks, you guys are the best!

I am terrified of going to the dentist after many horrific experiences in the dental chair. I am embarrassed to admit that it had been many years since I had been seen by a dentist. I was referred to Dr. Doug Emery by a friend, and from the moment I walked in to the office the fear began to go away. Dr. Doug sat with me and listened to my history and told me that everyone in the office strives to treat each patient in the same way that they would want to be treated themselves. He patiently explained that he would take one step at a time to deal with my dental issues. My experience since that first day has been very positive. My hygienist, Elizabeth, is gentle, thorough, and kind, and because of the care that I am receiving, I am committed to continuing on this journey to dental health. I recommend them highly!

I just started going here and I must say I agree with all the reviews posted. We just moved to Long Beach from San Jose and I have lots of crowns especially in the back of my mouth. Not long after each crown the pain got so bad that I always needed a root canal. It was like clock work, it got so routine I was thinking of getting the root canal before the crown. Dr Emery was the first dentist that did a crown for me and its been six months NO $ 1000.00 ROOT CANAL NEEDED! The office is clean modern and comfortable.

Just left my favorite Dentist Dr. Alyson Emery who fixed a teeny spot on my tooth then had a great, painless cleaning by Melanie! She always remembers that I like Cookie Dough flavored polishing stuff! I have been with Dr. A and Melanie since 1998! How great of a testimony to their care and great service is that!

I’ve been going to Emery & Emery for the past 12 years. Doug is my primary — he’s a lot of fun. Since I had my two front teeth broken before Christmas in 8th grade, he’s been there every step of the way on my recovery to a better and brighter smile. The other half of the battle with any Dentist is billing. Their staff has been incredibly patient and taken initiative throughout all of the insurance battles that surfaced along the way. I had never been one to go to the dentist regularly, only when I had a problem. I went to Dr. Alyson for one of those problems (close to 30 years ago) and ended up being a regular twice-​a-​year patient ever since. She is so gentle and caring, always concerned for my comfort. My hygienist, Melanie, is the same — gentle and caring. They have become friends that I look forward to seeing every 6 months! Everyone in that office is great and I highly recommend both Drs. Emery!

I had not smiled confidently in years and I unfortunately always appeared unhappy … I was so happy inside but nobody could ever tell because I was insecure about my teeth and due to past nightmarish experiences with Dentist I was completely terrified to seek dental treatment. I was refereed to Emery & Emery DDS by a loved one who accompanied me to my first visit where the Dentist took my hand in his, acknowledged my fears and sat with me. That was 5 months ago and I have not stopped smiling since. in fact I smile so much that I have been approached for random photo-​shoots based entirely on the beauty of my smile. I cannot thank Emery & Emery DDS enough for everything they did for me. My life has changed so much for the better and it all started with a visit to their office. My dental hygienist KAYLIN is the best! Every time I go in for a cleaning she is so friendly. I am never nervous to go to the dentist because she is so gentle when doing my cleaning! I would definitely recommend Kaylin or Dr. Emery to anyone! :)

First time at this place and I had an okay experience. I don’t have insurance so it was pricy for fillings. I had two small old cavities and they replaced it with new fillings and did a horrible job. My teeth now hurts all the time when I eat… even when I am not eating. Initially, the cost was around $ 600 and then charged me $ 100ish more without telling me. I guess she drilled deeper. I shoulda waited until I got back to central California to get my teeth done by professionals that I seen in the past. I don’t recommend! Too pricy and not worth it since they do a horrible job with fillings. My poor tooth :’(

This is the best dentist I have ever been to. A few months ago I came here to get a filling after a chunk of my tooth fell off. I was very very nervous because in the past, at another dentist, they didn’t numb my mouth enough and I felt some of the drilling. After telling Dr. Alyson about this, she gave me two numbing shots to make extra sure that I wouldn’t feel a thing. I am a big baby when it comes to shots but she put a numbing gel on before she even gave me the shot so I didn’t feel anything. I was so happy, this was a painless experience and throughout the entire procedure Dr. Alyson talked me through everything she was doing in a very nice voice that made me feel very at ease.
I am so happy with my experience here and I am happy to have found them.

This place and the people are awesome. All of the staff are very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. I came in with a dental emergency and they helped me so fast and made me feel so much better.
Dr. Alyson and Dr. Doug are amazing!
I am a regular patient of the office for routine teeth cleaning and dental care but today I came in because my wisdom tooth had become infected. They immediately starting helping me fight the infection and gave me the necessary antibiotics right in the office.
Dr. Doug then got my tooth out ASAP! I feel so much better. Thank you both for your professionalism and quick action to make me feel so much better :-)

I refer EVERYONE who asks (and even those that don’t) to Dr. Doug and Dr. Alyson. I have been going to this office for almost 20 years. The entire staff is amazing. If you need a dentist, stop right now and book an appointment. You will not be disappointed.
Over the years, I have convinced most of my family to give the office a try and they all LOVE it.
I came to see Dr. Alyson after a bad dental experience. She was extremely patient with me and got my teeth back in tip top shape. Over the years Dr. Alyson, Dr. Doug and their entire staff have completely eased all my fears. I actually LOVE going to the dentist. You are greeted by name when you walk in and never have to wait. Melanie usually cleans my teeth, but I have had my teeth cleaned by each of the hygienists. They are all very gentle, professional and great.
Some facts: The office is always clean. Everyone wears goggles and gloves and equipment is covered and protected. The environment is sterile. The technology is state of the art. You take digital X-​rays and charts are computerized. (They take pictures of your teeth and they pop up on the computer screen.) There are TV’s in each room (except the waiting room because like I said. there is no waiting. LOVE THAT!) Dr. Doug and Dr. Alyson stay current on all the newest dental technology and continue to educate themselves and their patients.
I look forward to my check ups because I get to see the staff and catch up. I leave feeling like I just had lunch with old friends.

I was looking for a new dentist and came across the Emerys’ fantastic Unilocal reviews — thank You, God! I made an appointment and got in fairly quickly to see the female Dr. Emery (husband and wife team.)
She was exactly what you want in a dentist. You may not even know what you want, but I can tell you this lady is it. She has SUPERIOR bedside manner (can you use that term with a dentist?) She will make you feel comfortable and she thoughtfully listens to your concerns. She really is just a warm, friendly person! I love that. I felt so at ease, and I was able to explain my problem and get her expert advice.
I have not had a cleaning here yet because that is the one appointment that is hard to get, but I will update when I do.
So excited that I found this office! Oh, and one more thing, they are on the low side when it comes to charging. I know this because my insurance is very conservative about what they allow as «usual and customary,» and I often have to pay quite a bit out of pocket. I barely had to pay this time! Yesss!
