Fresh & Easy

its great to have a healthy alternative to the big name grocery stores nearby. this is where i go to get good deals on organic basics like celery, tomatoes, salads and a wide variety of nuts and other organic produce I just can’t find elsewhere. They also have Marley coffee brand and its really hard to beat the fresh juices options like lemonade with cucumber and mint. Some things are quite pricey but I like that I know whats in the products, like I always tell my parents, isn’t worth a few cents more to know what you’re putting in your body?

One year ago, I would have given this store 5 stars. I shopped there 2 – 3 times a week, and was very loyal to the store.
Ever since the chain was sold to the new company, their prices continue to rise. They also stopped sending out coupons in the mail or newspaper. This store is no longer a great value.
I also noticed the original employees are gone. They were always very friendly & personable. The new staff is like robots. They’re not rude, but not friendly either. I don’t know what caused the change, but I don’t like it.
My business now goes to Sprouts!

They’re now open until midnight!!!
…not that i am ever up that late. But i like going to bed knowing that fresh and easy is still open.

I like this FnE store more than other ones that I have been to.
The store is clean — the people that work there are helpful — the people up front will break their backs to help you with coupons /​store cards /​etc. AND to bag your groceries for you.
I love it that I can come in here and do a week’s worth of shopping in about 20 minutes and still get out without paying an arm and a leg.
I notice that I am running in this store more and more often when I have to just grab one thing! It’s so easy to get in and out of here quickly… and even faster since they have the parent and child parking literally in front of the front door!
Grab your grocery cart outside — this shop is so small they can’t get them inside at all.
Lots of produce options, lots of beans, dried grains, plenty of pasta options, and delicious tortillas and fun breads. This store also seems to have their bakery section still open. Raw and healthy bars, trail mix, great seed options (cheap!), and lots of dried fruit make it easy to stock stuff that it easy to eat on the run. And — check out their awesome selection of (fairly) local craft beers!
For my vegetarian /​vegan friends — check out the freezer section (near the back corner of the store) for the AWESOME selection of quick meals and ready to eat things.
Overall: nice, attentive service and lots of healthy options means I will be back.

I’ve been going to this Fresh and Easy location for about 3 years. The employees have always been nice, it’s never crowded, and I like its selection. I also like that Fresh and Easy carries their brand and other commercial brands so I don’t have to go to multiple stores to get what I need like I do when I shop exclusively at Trader Joe’s. However, the one thing I HATE ABOUT FRESH AND EASY, and as a result, shop only at Trader Joe’s, are the COUPONS. As a full-​time working mother of 2 toddlers, I don’t have time to clip them out weekly from their ads, nor do I have time to print them from my e-​mail prior to going to the store. I often only remember I have coupons upon shopping, in which I am then forced to stop my shopping in the middle of the store to check my e-​mail so that I can get the dang coupon. A typical Trader Joe’s trip costs me about $ 120, a typical Fresh and Easy trip without coupons costs me about $ 175 so the only way Fresh and Easy is affordable is with the stupid coupons. The lesson is, don’t go here without a coupon.
What forced me to finally write this review is that on our way home from a Halloween event (¹⁰⁄₂₇), my family and I stopped here unplanned and gosh darn it, I didn’t have a coupon on-​hand. As I saw our bill entering the $ 150 range, I quick checked my e-​mail for a coupon only to find none (instead I had a coupon for points, which is also lame… but that’s a whole other review). Desperate, I asked an employee who had none. I saw two guys checking out beside me using a coupon and yes, I lamely asked if I could use theirs when they were done (It’s $ 30!!! That’s a lot of money!!!). They were sweet and passed it to me. As I was checking out with their coupon, another employee came (gentleman) who was clearly annoyed that I had finagled a coupon and said that when customers leave their coupons behind for other customers, he just throws them away and that people, referring to me, should remember their coupons! He’s saying this all while my two boys are on the verge of killing each other because they’ve had to wait for me, yet again, to find the dang Fresh and Easy coupons.
Here’s a thought Fresh and Easy as you go through your transition. Follow Trader Joe’s lead and get rid of your coupons. Just make the prices reasonable from the get-​go and hire employees that actually want your customers to have an affordable shopping experience.

I like that they have a pretty good selection of organic stuff, especially ice cream and baking items. However, their organic selection in the meat and cheese and yogurt arena is dismal — in fact I don’t think they have any of these items in an organic option. In fact, most of their dairy isn’t even rbst hormone free. GROSS! Get with the program Fresh & Easy — you sure do stock a whole lot of GMO-​laden crap on your isles.

I’ve come to this location a couple times prior to today. I noticed they have a very good clearance section for produce. We always load up on water, veggies, and clearance meat. We were on the hunt for a new sink spigot thing that F&E has and the gentlemen could not find one. As we were at the register he ran back over and said her found one and gave it to us. I have not seen customer service like that in a long time. This time we were standing in line, one of the ladies in the front was more than happy to help us out. Every other F&E I’ve been to trying to get help at the register is like pulling teeth. We forgot our coupons so she told us about the app on our phones that we can get and was just very pleasant to talk to. I will now be taking the bit of extra time it takes to come to this location.

Perfect place to grocery shop for dinner for two! They have all these prepackaged fresh meals that just need to be cooked and portioned in the most perfect sizes. I also love how neat and clean it is in here. I prefer to shop in smaller markets and this is the new love of my life when it comes to grocery shopping. Don’t get me wrong, I still need my Sams Club and Costco, but when I just want to pick something up quickly to cook for my boyfriend and me, this is my new go to location. Another plus, the wine selection!!! They also have a good sized chilled wine section so if I really am picking up things last min I don’t have to worry about chilling wine as fast as I can.

We always come here when we go to the doctor’s office across the street. It’s clean and the staff is relatively friendly. I normally can find what I need.

I should say first that I don’t know why Tesco is planning to possibly scrap its F&E stores in the U.S. because this location is always hustling and bustling with shoppers. I like how genuinely community-​centered they are… there’s even a bulletin board for community events and even lost dogs! When you walk in, you are usually greeted by seasonal flowers and plants, plus wooden floors add some extra interior warmth.
As for their wares, it’s sometimes hit-​and-​miss. They’ve got the «Easy» part down, but sometimes the «Fresh» is a little misrepresented. Most of their refrigerated produce is prepackaged (for self checkout, of course), but since they aren’t exposed to a mister, a lot of the lettuces and leafy items appear dessicated. They also seem to have a «fruit-​fly» problem from time to time which is not something I want to bring home.
Bread, milk, and eggs are competitively priced with the surrounding markets… they even have their own brand of almond milk which I prefer. Name-​brand cereals are generally pretty expensive here, but their store brand cereals can have some good deals on occasion. They have *great* deals on spaghetti sauce (depending on the kind), and the largest variety of rice-​based pastas I’ve ever seen.
I have found their self checkout system to be intuitive and reliable. The reward points system is worth exploiting, but it can be a little confusing to get started. If you can get a system of mailed coupons (or from the newspaper) and reward points going, Fresh & Easy is quite a bargain for most items!

When I used to work in the area, I would sometimes go to this Fresh & Easy location during my lunch hour. As someone else mentioned, if you’ve been to one Fresh & Easy, you’ve been to them all, since they have the same basic store layout and carry the same products.
This store is in a bustling commercial area, with other retailers close by. This store is also located close to Millikan High School, and I noticed that sometimes some of the students would come to this store on their lunch break.
I noticed that all the Fresh & Easy stores have enclosed their refrigerated foods cases (the ones that display meat and other perishable foods like yogurt, cheese, etc.) are now enclosed with glass doors. They also now have onsite bakeries that bake and sell freshly-​made baked goods like pastries and cookies. The floors used to be bare cement but are now covered in laminate woodgrain-​style flooring.
I like the fact that Fresh & Easy has self-​service checkout stands. To me, they’re easy to use and fast – although I have seen a few people struggle to use them and then they have to flag down a store employee to help them out.
The employees at this location have always been helpful and friendly to me (I guess I’ve been lucky that I haven’t come across an unhelpful or unfriendly employee yet). This kind of store is a good place to shop if you already know what you’re going to buy, and you want to get in and out quickly.

I love Fresh and Easy! The staff here are always helpful, the produce is fresh, and their prices are reasonable. I especially love their homemade salsa and salad dressing.
My only complaint is that they should put their food in the 50% off section (aka a college students dream!) one or two days before the expiration date rather than the day of. Especially for things like dairy products that go bad quickly. It would cause them to waste less food at the end of the day.

Not that bad of a location.
If you’ve been to one Fresh & Easy you’ve been to them all.
I’m not a fan of charging 10 cents per paper bag, which makes me try and remember my own re-​useable bag.
Good food. I like shopping for the healthier options and I feel this place has more healthy food instead of Vons, Ralphs, etc.

Convenient, clean, and good selection. Don’t forget to bring your bags though!

I was cooking a lovely lunch for a romantic anniversary.
I cook the whole chicken and cut into it to serve
and guess what!!! The whole inside of the chicken is GREEN!!! SPOILED ROTTEN!!!
I haven’t been able to eat chicken the same way since.

The same day I called to tell them that their chicken was rotten and green and the manager didn’t even care. He said if I really had a problem I should come in and claim a new one. I asked if he would pull the chicken from the shelves and he said no. There is no way a perfectly fine chicken goes sour unless it has not been refrigerated properly!!!
So much for «Fresh» and easy!!!

This is the location where one of their employees ran me down with a handcart — and pushed me into the cold foods. No, they took no responsibility for my bruises and didn’t have anyone on staff who knew what to do when you injure a customer.
But if you take a look in the cold food section, they have now enclosed many of the cases with doors.
I guess that’s a move in the right direction to ensure customer safety.
But I tend to get a knot in my stomach when I’m forced into using this particular location because it’s on the way to many of the places I travel. So, it used to be a neat store to me, but just to be careful, watch your back. It’s not fun living with bruises because of a careless company.

okay well, to the review. ALWAYS CLEAN, has a AWESOME pre cooked food section, they even brought in lanb shanks! LAMB SHANKS at a grocery store! & their prices i think are reasonable… they even show how some of their prices compare to the albertsons across the street. also, this is like my mini costco when it comes to food tasting! LOOOOOVVEE their food tasting, today they had cheese & crackers. :D Even though this is a small grocery store, its definetly not lacking, always has wonderful products & the workers most of them are very helpful. :]

Hah, I saw that inconspicuous «People Love Us on Unilocal» sticker right next to the sliding automatic door. I entered this tiny yet tidy & neat market, & I was faced w/​very straightforward signs at an interestingly lowered height compared to those big, chain supermarkets – or maybe it’s just me –_​_​_​-​.
But I was there to quickly find a last-​minute potluck dish, & b/​c I was bringing more Christmas party goodies to a friend’s house, I only wanted to grab an inexpensive dessert tray…
Ooh, they had the last (2-​layered) Red Velvet Cake at $ 5.99? Snatch. And a rapid Self-​Checkout machine? Swipe, bag, boom – in & out the market in less than 5 minutes.
That was easy =P, & the cake turned out to be wonderful &, yup, pretty fresh, & I consider this to be a bit better than Ralph’s version.

Don’t tell Trader Joe’s, but I’ve been seeing someone else on the side. Yes, I’ve been a-​cheatin’ on TJ’s, fooling around with that cheap floozy, Fresh & Easy. Hell, even her name makes it sound so obvious… how’s a man supposed to resist? The burritos in the fresh-​foods section, especially the pollo asada, are super tasty and convenient, and the steak & egg one isn’t half bad, either. Her heat-​and-​eat chipotle mac & cheese has me coming back for hot and spicy seconds.
And her ready-​made Greek salad has me frequently sneaking off at lunchtime, hat pulled low and sunglasses on, for yet another secret rendezvous, where I get all freaky with the balsamic dressing. Yeah, I know I’m a dog for having two loves, but don’t hate the playa, son. What TJ’s doesn’t know won’t hurt. And keep Joey Greco from «Cheaters» away from me. He doesn’t need to be all up in my lunchtime business.

Whenever I want to live out my childhood dream of becoming a check-​out clerk, I come shopping to Fresh & Easy, where I can use the Self-​Checkout machines — pity they don’t allow you to use the till, uh?
Fresh & Easy is the market I come for top-​quality navel oranges, Frank’s Kraut, Fresh & Easy’s baked bread and vino, vino, vino. There wine selection and prices are fabo! Reasonable and good. I love the diverse selection of wines they offer.
Of course, being the cashier that I am, I check for I.D. when I buy here. I self-​card myself… «I’m like, hot momma, lets see some I.D.

Fresh & Easy… this is my fun store for playing cashier, for purchasing top quality produce and more. I love Fresh & Easy. Between Sprouts, Trader Joe’s, Marukai, and Fresh & Easy, I loyally shop. But I like Fresh & Easy the best for fruit, specialty items, and breads.
