I got my 18^th birthday cake here and was assisted with my auntie because she is relatives with the owner. The cake was delicious! However, I went to have breakfast with my friend and brother and we had horrible service. The person giving us food was very rude. I noticed when other people came in they didn’t get rude service. And there it clicked in my head, we don’t speak Tagalog and I figured that was why.

I really enjoy their Sans Rival cake! To describe it… it’s like Rice Krispies and meringue put together with very light cream all around, the finished off with roasted cashew bits all over! I haven’t tried making it myself but one of these days, I’ll try. MAYBE! They make it so good, I doubt mines will turn out just as good. -.-
Other sweets I get are the bibingka and egg pie! Both are worth trying and their prices are reasonable too. They seem like plain desserts but sometimes plain is enough or else they’ll be too overwhelming to eat. Truth. Simple is good in this case!
They open really early to bake fresh pan de sal, which are Filipino buns! They’re so soft and fluffy when hot! Perfect for breakfast to go with egg and/​or spam! Sometimes I make corned beef sliders with them! They’re really good.
My review is mainly on their desserts and pastries. I haven’t tried any of their main entrees. Next time.
Parking lot is a bit small but I normally get a space in the AM since the other stores are still closed. The plaza has recently been «expanded» since they took out the Easy Market at the other end of the plaza. Still, parking is somewhat an issue. It’s worth stopping by for the desserts though. Order ahead of time to reserve your sweets! They’re very accommodating.

Small place but it really makes the best if what it has. This is how I feel about this Filipino eatery and bakery. The staff is kind and super nice. There is Filipino fast food such as dinuguan (pork blood and pork bits), beef steak, eggrolls, and sinigang (sour soup with veggies and meat). Different days bring different dishes but I love them all. The deserts are great like the Halo-​halo. This place has been here since I have lived half my life in The LBC.

One of my favorite places to visit for authentic Filipino food! I’ve literally been going here since I was a kid. I’ve gotten nearly everything here from freshly baked pan de sal in the morning to their lumpiang sariwa. Everything is delicious and makes the quaint little bakery feel like a home away from home.

The last couple of weeks I’ve ordered the same cake I had on my wedding (white cake, strawberry filling, whipped cream frosting) and it just isn’t as good as it used to be. The cake was dry both times I ordered it and the strawberries sparse. I probably won’t order from them again anytime soon.

It was a hot day in Long Beach. It was one of those days where you didn’t want to go outside to check your mail because it was that hot.
Knowing it was that hot, I assumed it was best that I go for a run. I was a fool to think that.
Luckily, I came by Gemmae’s bakery. First off, they noticed that I looked like hell and was probably going to pass out, so they immediately offered me water. While the water was nothing special, they get five stars for not waiting for me to ask. In fact, they even added ice to the water so that it would even more refreshing.
After a few minutes, I was able to regain some consciousness and realized I wanted something cold to help beat the heat. Seeing Gemmae’s is a Filipino bakery, there was halo-​halo on the menu – no hesitation when it was ordered.
My god, it was glorious. And it wasn’t just because I was having an ice based dessert on a horribly hot and humid day. It was glorious because it was delicious. The ratio of red beans, coconut jelly, corn, and all the other ingredients were perfectly balanced – not too much ice either. Topping it all off was a fat scoop of ube ice cream that, when bit into, brought me back to my trip the Philippines when it was horribly hot and humid and I was feasting on halo-​halo.
After it was all said and done. I demolished that serving of halo-​halo and immediately felt like I can take on the day. I couldn’t. I called an Über, ordered another halo-​halo to go, and took off into the sunset.
That wonderful experience alone will be what brings me back. Five stars all around.

By far one of my fav Filipino Bakeries! I used to go here when I lived in California. I had an Ube (Sp?) cake made from them which was absolutely delicious and it had the most amazing whip cream frosting!!! If anyone is familial with Wegmans, you know that they have great whip cream frosting, but Gemmae puts them to shame! It was the most moist cake I have ever had. and To this day my family still talks about it!
I also had poncit from there which was the best I have ever had! The portion was great very fresh and flavorful. I had a few different type of breads/​rolls, which i don’t remember the name of them, but they were super fluffy and so tasty.
I wish this place was closer to where I am now so I could have them make my wedding cake!

One of my favorite places in LB. Breakfast is awesome and affordable. Pastries are better than Goldilocks.

I stopped by this place for breakfast after work because i was craving for Filipino food. The lumpia was good but hated that they only have vinegar for dipping (not a big fan of vinegar). The sweet and sour sauce would’ve been good with the lumpia! The fried rice was good too. But their pork tocino has that stinky/​gross porky after taste. I marinated and cooked it again lol and it tasted a lot better. Also the bibingka tasted like torta, that sweet bread from Cebu City lol. It was good, but i was looking for that authentic bibingka taste from the Philippines. I really wanna go back though for their turon! :)

The little mini egg rolls are the best we ever had. I totally recommend it. And the price is cheap very cheap.

They have the best lumpias but their organization and customer service is terrible!!! I ordered a tray of 100 lumpias for a party, when I went to pick them up they said they didn’t have my order!

The food is mediocre is at best. The customer service is good, except for this one woman that seem like she got a stick up her behind. And she looks miserable, like she doesnt want to be there! Go there if all the other store is closed, but otherwise its not woth your money.
Worst thing I’ve ever done is to come back here and give it another chance. Servers are the worst, not friendly, like they are very unhappy with the world. When you order one of the turo turo foods, you can actually see how stingy they are, like they are counting how many beef they are giving the costumers. What a sad sad place! I will never come back! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!

I only come here for HALO-​HALO during hot sunny days after some form of cardio. After chow king downsized their version of halo-​halo, I was not having it. Over priced and under made, forget it! So this has become my go-​to spot for now.
Their halo halo reminds me of the ones I would eat during my childhood days. I appreciate how they put actual ube paste and leche flan in it. The beans taste like they just came out of a jar (typical) and their coconut jellies were yummy! The shave ice could be more fine but it’s fine.
They also sell many filipino desserts, appetizers, and to-​go food. They even sell mangos by the box. I recommend you check them out if you want some quick food or halo halo.

2 stars for the taste of food. They are pretty tasty compare to the other filipino fast food.
0 star for coming here twice and ordering a 2 item combo, CORNED BEEF and Tocino, and twice getting charged $ 1 extra. It says on their board that «$ 1 extra for Beef and Fish and Tortang Talong.» Can someone please explain to me how Corned Beef, a process food, should apply to this $ 1 extra? If this is the case, then if they have some Ginisang Sardinas, they will charge $ 1 extra again! This is why I hate coming to this place. Today, i had no choice coz I didn’t have my lunch packed. And it is always the same guy who seems to charge me more than what I am supposed to pay. It is the guy who has a tiny, weird voice, for a guy. By the way, it say $ 5.99 for a 2 item combo. I paid $ 7.61 for a Corned Beef and Tocino.

STOP BY FOR FILIPINO BREAKFAST!!!
This is a small hole-​in-​the-​wall Filipino bakery and food corner. How did I find out about this place, you ask? One of my co-​workers brought in a hot bag of pan de sal (sweet bread rolls) with some butter. The bread rolls smelled sooo good! I took one bite and was SOLD! I didn’t even need the butter!
I had to check this place out on my own to try some of their other goodies. Yes, this place gets four stars from me! Now let me warn you, they have a tiny tiny parking lot shared by other establishments. There’s street parking on the side but still, it can be frustrating finding a spot in the morning. There’s a few small tables for dining in but it looks like most people take food to-​go.
Lots of Filipino baked goodies. Here are a few goodies I’ve tried and liked in the past: Puto (steamed rice cake), Sapin sapin (sweet layered glutinous rice and coconut milk dessert w/​toasted coconut flakes), and Bibingka (sweet textured rice flour with coconut milk). They’re all delicious here but just make sure you look at when it was made, especially during the summer months (It is a small hole-​in-​the-​wall place that doesn’t seem to receive much foot traffic after the morning rush hour). I haven’t tried any of their cakes from here so I can’t say vouch for them.
Now, the MAIN reason I keep coming back to this place is for their Filipino breakfast combo! There isn’t very many places, surprisingly in the South Bay, I like to go to for Filipino breakfast. Garlic rice, two eggs cooked in oil (yummy!!), and longanisa (sweet Filipino breakfast sausages). I’ve tried their tocino (sweet pork belly) but I love their longanisa much better! I take it to-​go and have them at home with a freshly brewed cup of coffee!
Other Filipino dishes I’ve tried in the past for lunch includes chicken adobo and pancit but those were just okay. This place opens at 630am until 630pm Monday through Saturday and 630am to 530pm on Sunday. I would say the price range here is reasonable. Quick service here. They accept credit cards.

One of those Filipino locations in Long Beach where you cannot help but wonder why it is still in business. The food sold here are tasteless and not worth your money. Service is poor and not somewhere you would like to be during any time of the day. Parking limited. Small location. Feeling of being inside a port-​a-​potty with intended baked goods of Filipino delicacies… ugh! Not!
I stopped going here years ago because of the cake I literally bought already pre-​made with the WORST EVERYTHING! Reasons my cake and experience here was horrible:
1) The cake was pre-​made and when sliced into there were 2 egg shells inside the cake. F$@&!!
2) I literally wrote down on a piece of paper for the middle aged Filipino lady working that I wanted the cake to read …
«Happy Birthday Chloe. From Ate Rica and Kuya Romyr.» Just my luck to not open the box while in the store because when it came time to blow the candles on the cake it read (very upset)

3) Nothing is fresh or made with love here. Expected fresh out of the oven bread in the morning are hard and not even a hungry beggar would eat.
Cakes are obviously not their specialty. Customers are the usual older Filipino population who have probably trained their taste palates to eat the food. Nothing special about this place to even consider coming back. Trust me.
