Specialties

Growing with Music and Movement offers an educational music experience program for children ages 2 to 11. The program combines elements of Orff Schulwerk and Kodaly methods with traditional philosophies of music education. It encourages musical, social, emotional, and physical development of young children through a multi-​disciplinary approach by singing, playing, listening, moving, and creating. Classes focus on teaching basic rhythm, vocal training, and music notation through various musical games, songs, and dances. Children will be introduced to various percussion instruments and eventually will learn to play the recorder — a vital stepping-​stone to learning to play any other instrument.

History

Established in 1993.

For over 20 years Danuta Klimczak has developed and perfected a music education program, which she offers through the Recreation Parks in Long Beach and Seal Beach as well as through session classes at a private studio. Hundreds of children in the Long Beach and Seal Beach areas have benefited from participating in this music education program.

Business Owner

Danuta Klimczak is a music teacher specializing in early music education. She teaches children from 19 months to 11 years old. With a twenty-​year experience of implementing Orff-​Schulwerk and Kodaly methodologies, her program emphasizes an informal, gentle, and friendly approach to developing musical skills.

Danuta Klimczak has a master’s degree in early music education from University of Silesia in Poland. As an active member of Orff-​Schulwerk Association she frequently participates in seminars and workshops.

My daughters started with Danuta when they were 3 yrs old. From the age of 5 they were learning to read music, playing a recorder, and finding their rhythm! Danuta would have them practice their music and then get out of their seats and learn dances to music from all over the world. My favorite was square dancing. The music that they played on the recorders was fun and familiar so they enjoyed it. The kids advance to the next sized recorder each year so they can get different sounds. My girls stopped at the end of 4th grade only because in 5th they can take instruments in school. Now my girls are in 7th grade and have performed in the Middle School Honor band. I truly believe if it hadn’t been for Danuta’s class they wouldn’t have a love for music that they have now. I highly recommend her classes! Start them young

As a former student of Mrs. Danuta’s, I have to say that her classes were some of the best times. Not only is she fun, energetic, and creative, but everything I learned really stuck with me. Even though it’s been over 10 years since I’ve been in her class, I do pick up the recorder every once in a while and I can still remember all the fingering and play many of the songs. She has such a fun and unique way to help kids learn that, even to this day, I still use her cool mnemonic songs to read and write music notes. Her classes really helped me appreciate music in a way that regular piano (or any other instrument) lessons couldn’t quite do and the friendships I made while in her class were some that have lasted and that I greatly cherish. I hope that when I have kids, I’ll be able to sign them up for Mrs. Danuta’s classes. Truly a gem!

My two boys ages 7 and 3 love their music class. Danuta uses a multisensory approach that keeps the kids engaged and on task. She uses movement to teach the musical notes before teaching them the written and formal names. The class was recommended by other families who really enjoy the class, and the teacher. I highly recommend the class, even for babies.

As a music lover, we wanted our son to have appreciation for music. We enrolled him in Mrs. Danuta’s class 6 sessions ago. He loves it, we love it, and he has developed such a love and appreciation for music. He sings and dances, often times the songs he learns in class. We’ve met great moms and other kids in class. Mrs. Danuta has passion for her class; she really puts everything into her children. She manages toddlers with kindness but is stern when another child attempts to disrupt class. I strongly recommend Mrs. Danuta’s class!!!

When my son was 1 years old, I looked for music classes for him. I registered him in several music classes for his age but quickly realized the teacher engagement was minimum. Basically, hello, one song and here are some instruments for you and your kid to play with. We tried 2 different teachers until we found Mrs. Danuta. My son loves going to her class. He looks forward to the Bunny puppet. He learned to say his name because of this puppet. My son is now 3 years and he continues to attend her class (for older toddlers). Mrs. Danuta is fun, she engages the kids and is a wonderful musician and singer. She is an awesome teacher. I found her class in the Long Beach parks & recreation magazine.

My daughter started Mrs. Danuta’s parent and me music & movement class when she was 2 ½ … I fell in love with the class and Mrs. Danuta’s teaching! She an amazing teacher that has lots of energy and a love of music and instruments that she shares with her students! Now my daughter is 5 and I can’t believe how far she’s come… She’s learning to play the recorder and read music. She’s only 5 and knows so much about music because of Mrs. Danuta’s classes and I know she will continue to learn more! My son is 2 ½ and now attends the parent & me music & movement class. I’m so happy I found these classes and will continue to put my kids in these classes because I see how important it is for them to have music in their lives! I recommend these classes to everyone!
