Hezdil Driving School

This review is long due as I took lessons last year Feb. So yes, I found this school via online search and selected after reading reviews on Unilocal.So here’s my contribution to the community,
— I only took 12 hours of lessons
— He was very through and knew what he was doing.
— Sometimes he asks you to pull off the car to the side and then he draws on a notepad to explain things clearly. In my opinion, that shows his dedication to teach you.
— Was always on time.
— I have heard stories that most driving school instructors are rude and impatience. But he was very polite, patience and professional throughout my lessons.

If I could give this 0 stars I would. I am 36 years old with 7 years driving experience under my belt and recently relocated to the state of California. Unfortunately I lost my license and had to take both the written and practical exam over again. I was willing to pay whatever it took to pass the test.
Mr. Hezdil showed up to my home in a Toyota Corolla which was nice since that is the same model car I first owned when I once drove. He spend the first 30 minutes of time driving to the nearest restroom when we could have been practicing. He was also EXTREMELY unprofessional and hit on me constantly even though he knew i was married.
I just brushed it off hoping he would give me the knowledge I needed to pass the test but after failing for the third time he then had the audacity to offer me free lessons exchange for spending the night with him. Fortunately, I was able to obtain another drivers license WITHOUT his help and I would NEVER recommend his services to anyone, male but ESPECIALLY female. He is a nasty, lecherous old man from Nigeria who treats women like objects. DONOT RECOMMEND!

Never picks up the phone when I call, in fact the voicemail leaves you to a completely different number, also you can’t even contact them on the official website, it says there’s a 404 error. Is he not teaching anymore?

John is great, nice, on time, and very helpful.
Although I agree what he says maybe very repetitive overtime, but I believe he just wants us to remember better.
I never drove before. I took 18 hours (3 two-​hour lessons every other week) with him right after I got my permit, and after a month I passed the driving test the first time. I think 18 hours is more than enough, I could have stopped after 12 hours but I just wanted to play safe and make sure I can pass the road test on the first try.
Also, if you have friends/​family to practice with you besides taking the lessons, you can take even less hours I guess. (I didn’t practice at all after the lessons, so the 18 hours is all I got.)
I highly recommend him if you don’t have any experience on driving.

I made a Unilocal account just so I could review Hezdil Driving School and I have to say, my experience was nothing short of excellent.
The instructor introduced himself to me as John (I assume Hezdil is his last name?). He was on time, every time.
I learned to drive as an adult and had to get my license fast as I had accepted a job that required a long commute. I took four sessions with John and passed the DMV driver’s test on my first try. John was very patient throughout my experience with him. Not only does he teach you to become a safe driver, he helps to make you feel confident and at ease behind the wheel. He calmly points out your mistakes and has you do some driving drills to help you work on improving them. If there is something you don’t quite understand, he’ll have you pull over and he’ll demonstrate the driving maneuvers to you using some quick sketches or some knick knacks he has in the vehicle. He does have a thick accent, however he is very understandable.
He drives a Toyota Corolla with pedals that he can also control from the passenger side. I was charged 75 for two hours, and 40 for one hour lesson. My first lesson consisted of basic driving skills, the second consisted of defensive driving skills, my third lesson was geared towards passing the DMV test, and the last lesson (which I took after I got my license) focused on highway driving.
He is an excellent teacher and does his job very well. I chose to use Hezdil Driving School because of the Unilocal reviews and I am very happy with the results. I got my license and now I get to make the 1.5 hour commute to work everyday… hooray?

I remember taking driving lessons with Hezdil back when I was 15! I brought the owner (forgot his name, let’s just call him Mr. Hezdil) a lot of customers— even my younger sister took driving lessons from him 3 years later. Lessons with him are super affordable!
Mr. Hezdil used a Toyota Corolla to teach me which was PERFECT because that’s what car my parents bought me for my high-​school graduation gift and the car I have to this very day.
He’s a very nice man, has kind of a thick Nigerian accent but he is still understandable. He kind of talks a lot, but that’s his method of teaching I guess. He comes to/​meets up with you to give you lessons and even gives live demos of driving situations with the random items inside his car (gum, chap-​stick, books, etc.). He would even tell you what to do and what not to do during your behind-​the-​wheel test— the «Automatic Fail» essentials!
This guy is funny too (but I don’t think he knows it). I remember my friend telling me that he made her drive to the nearest Target so he could use their restroom! LMAO. We always had funny stories to tell each other every time we had behind-​the-​wheel training with Mr. Hezdil. LOL.

I definitely recommend Hezdil Driving School. Mr. John, the instructor, is a very patient man. No matter how many mistakes I made, he was able to correct me in a very nice manner and he emphasized on how to become a good defensive driver which I think is the most important thing.
Even though I only took 6 hours of drivers training, I feel like my driving abilities have improved a LOT. and because of his constant compliments and tips, I now have the confidence to drive on my own.
