The manager did contact me and said that he would use my experience as training for the staff at Islands. I do appreciate him reaching out to me and explaining to me that they did not meet the standard of service they usually provide. I’m choosing to update my review because the manager contacted me.

DONOTCOMEHEREIFYOUPLANTOEATWITH A BIGPARTY. After a long day of setting up for a trade show at the convention center, my coworkers and i(18 people total) decided to end the night with some good food and drinks. However. Manager of the night confused and shocked all of us with his unprofessional and rude approach to our seating requests. The excuse for his unnecessary brash forwardness was him not having enough servers for the night. He also takes it to the extent of insisting we go elsewhere, so… We went to CPK which is literally across the street from them. We would’ve given better understanding if he had handled the situation with a more humble persona like every professional and experienced management personnel would, but he didn’t and loss the patronage of 18 people– not just for the night, but most likely for a while. Either Islands restaurant policy is practiced differently than every other restaurant business in the states or it’s a «job well done» by the manager of Islands Restaurant in Long Beach branch. **This review is specifically for the manager in charge on Friday(1÷29÷2016) @around 8pm.

My family ate at this restaurant on Saturday, January 23rd. We were attending the ISS show and the restaurant was busy. We had super poor service from our waitress, and at one point, none of us had anything left to drink. The refill of the fries came after we were all done with lunch, and we asked for three containers but our waitress never brought them. My son wrapped some of the fries in his napkin rather than waste them. My husband lost his patience and ended up standing by our table waiting for her to return with our check because it was taking so long. What redeems this experience is that I called and spoke with the manager, Garrett, and he was very apologetic and is sending me a gift card to reimburse us for lunch. The next day, I had lunch at another chain in Torrance, and had a poor experience. I spoke with their manager and he apologized, but didn’t offer to do a thing about the bad service we received. That prompted me to write this review. Obviously, Islands cares a great deal about the dining experience and will do what it takes to «make it right». Thank you Garrett!

Solid and consistent. Came here on a Saturday afternoon around noontime. The service was friendly and prompt. The food was to order. The place was clean. It’s Islands. I got the Island’s experience. So if you like Island’s, like their food, and appreciate free refills that are promptly refilled, you will be happy here.

Our server, William, was very attentive even though he was super busy! Still had a smile on his face everytime he came to our table. And he was on top of refills for drinks as well! Great service and awesome food! The fries are amazing! Would come back if I lived in the area!

Just bad judgement… on my part and theirs. I was lazy and hungry and live next door. Didn’t feel like a burger and got the«Mahi bowl». For $ 15, i was served veggies that looked like they go with a TV dinner, some bland rice, and a piece of prefrozen tough playdough for a fish fillet. Do yourself a favor and if you go to a burger joint, GET A BURGER. Stupid! If you want veggies, go to Veggie Grill. If you want fish, go to Pier 76. This is a burger joint… and nothing more. And I’ve had better burgers… Louis Burger down the street, The Counter in DTLA. Not sure why this place is popular. Maybe the convention crowd, undiscerning locals, and random tourists can keep this place in business, but its not for me!

Came here for the first time and was not thrilled at all. Sat at the bar since it was happy hour(totally excited for this) seen the happy hour menu and it was pretty sad. And pricey if you ask me. Anyway waitress came by we put in our order right away and asked for chips and salsa since that was going to be fast to munch before we got our burgers. Yea well chips and salsa never made it to our table. We got our burgers. I got the Malibu burger. With grilled onion and avocado. Well got the burger and the tiniest slither of avocado. I mean for an extra 2 bucks i would like a piece of avocado in every bite. That of course didn’t happen. My boyfriend got the pipeline burger, he ordered that cause it came with chili in it. He wasn’t very satisfied with there chili. Oh and he ordered a sprite which didn’t make it to the table till we got her attention that the sprite never made it. Here’s the worse part. THEFRIES were SOOOOOOOO salty. I had to brush them off before i would eat them. And I like salt so for me to comment and say they were salty cause they were SALTY. and looked like we got the last batch. The fries were really small that i just used my fork to eat them. pretty disappointed, wont be going here again.

We were the last group of customers right before they closed. The waitress and food was just as wonderful as if we were the first customers of the day! I was honestly expecting mediocre service for that time of day, but everything was great. My only complaint would be the manager who seemed to be bothered that we showed up… maybe he had plans?

Wow, overall very impressed. The quality of the burgers are on point, love the red ales. They also have a nice selection of beers. Their Hoisin Bowl is amazing and an excellent healthier alternative to the burgers. The service was excellent.

I have to say I haven’t been to an islands in forever!!! We decided to have lunch here with the family after seeing The Good Dinosaur at the pike in long beach. They greeted us and say is quickly… that’s a plus since my 3 kiddos and hubby were starving!!! Our server kelsey(I believe that’s what her name was) she was very attentive and got out order correct on the 1st time… I have picky eaters… our beer was ice cold when brought, the kids shakes were awesome and the food was nice and hot. Thank you for the great experience. Servers make it all worth coming in!!!

I came here while LB Convention Center at a conference and it was crowded. I found this establishment to be newly staffed and it seems like they’re working out their system. The time I went it was rather busy and I don’t think it was the best day. Seating was limited and I was seated at a handicapped seat and it was hard to get a server. My advice would be to go on a down time and you may have a different experience.

If for no other reason I keep coming back here, it’s because of THEHAWAIIAN(medium rare) A succullent creation of burger masterpiece! Very juicy, tender, burger married to a ginormous slice of pineapple for the just right amount of sweetness. Paired with a breaded Crispy Onion Rings & Ranch dip. And you will be transported to burger heaven! My friend ordered The Boardwalk. It was ok. The ambiance in any Island’s restaurant is always lively. Family friendly, and not as brightly lit which is good for mood lighting. I will keep coming back for The Hawaiian!

Located in a shopping center in the heart of the LBC, there is parking in the parking structure and Islands validates 90 minutes. Islands is a chain and the first time i tried it i didn’t like it. This last time i ordered the Kilauea burger and it was actually well made, very juicy and a spicy kick. The fries are only Ok nothing special. This is a large restaurant with lotS of seating. Overall i enjoyed my experience.

Ehhhh I never come here because I don’t like places like this but my lil brother came down from NYC and was craving this for some reason so me being the awesome sister decided to come with so he can satisfy his cravings. Anyway, Mediocre from start to finish. I ordered the chicken nachos as an appetizer to share and a Maui burger. Nachos were ok, nothing spectacular. The cheese tasted like something out of a can. Big portion though so I guess that’s a plus? I wanted my burger medium but it came out well done… It irritates me when people ask how you want something prepared and then do what they want. What’s the point of asking if you aren’t going to fulfill my request? Maui burger came with French fries and was a basic patty with onions, lettuce, and some type of guacamole spread. I opted to skip the mayo and went with a wheat bun. I didn’t care for the burger and I didn’t even finish it which rarely happens. Service was lacking but what can you expect from a joint like this? We had to flag someone down for almost everything we needed. Come to find out our server went on break and didn’t think it was important to let us know… Another reason why I won’t ever be stepping foot into another one of these establishments.

There are so many good restaurants around my neighborhood that it took me 2 years to finally pay Islands a visit. I’m not sure if it’s a Southern California thang, but growing up in the Bay I never heard of Islands. Sometimes I crave burgers. I’ve exhausted myself from Ahimsa, Beachwood, Berlin, and Congregation’s burgers. They’re good and all, but sometimes a vegetarian wants something than mushroom and arugula. And I didn’t want Johnny Rockets. Yeah, there’s that option, but I’ll pass. Islands serves up unlimited fries as well! I got the Maui. It was whatever. The Gardenburger variety of conventional frozen vegetarian«burgers» has to be one of my least favorites. I was super bummed on that to be quite honest. However, it’s really nice that you can sub out any regular burger with a veggie patty. They have a pretty good selection of beers. We got a Sculpin($ 9) and a Nut Brown Ale($ 8) in large sizes because the unlimited fries were gonna suck them up and the calories would cancel out… or we’d get drunk and forget what calories were. Anyhow, some things to point out were that I asked for their chipotle aioli on the side– she brought out thousand island. Not sure if their chipotle aioli is really a cover up for thousand island or she didn’t know what I was talking about. The fries are a real good call if that’s what you’re here for. I knew I had a problem when my boyfriend said he had enough fries and I was already waiting to order another.

Was at a trade show at the LB Convention Center, and was trying to find a place to eat that we don’t have on the east coast. Found Islands, never seen before, so let’s give it a shot! I love burguers, so the decision process was easy. Here’s the lowdown: Service: excellent, very nice hostess and waitress Burger: Got the Hawaiian«special» with grilled pineapple, kalua pork(i.e. pulled pork), swiss cheese, onions, etc. Love the combination of the tangy pineapple and the other ingredients. Also got the onion rings, really awesome and gigantic. Why not 5 stars? Well, they brought the wrong hamburger, and instead of ditching it(I had already touched it) they decided to «rebuild it», by removing the wrong toppings and putting in the right ones. Also they gave me fries instead of onion rings, when I asked the replacement it took forever to get the onion rings(at least they were freshly fried and juicy). Also the price is a bit on the high side. Anyway, recommended! Cheers.

I don’t have much to say about this chain restaurant except that it has incredibly slow service. We waited about 10 minutes for our drinks, and when the other half of our party of four showed up, they waited about another 10 minutes for their waters. We waited a solid 30 minutes before our server actually took our orders, even though the booths around us were empty. Then the food came(after another 15 minutes) and it was just okay. Dry buns on the burgers, soggy fish tacos. Just alright. Great location at the Pike though, but there are plenty of other chain restaurants I’d visit before coming back to this Islands.
