Ok so this place has gotten better in some regard and worse in others netting an additional star. I would like to note that someone claiming to be a manager called me after my original review and wanted to discuss my concerns. I told him that I couldn’t talk at the time and asked him to call me back; he never did. Poor follow through, lasting impression. So the food has gotten better as the majority of Unilocalers will attest. The menu is reduced and they implemented some sushi dishes. The consistency of execution has improved as well. Gripe comes in with the remodel. The old place had an outside and an inside, which meant that if I was inside then I wasn’t outside. Seems obvious. But now it’s an inside with huge windows that open to the outside. Sounds nice in theory but discretion must be exercised. I was there for dinner on an October evening when it was 90° outside and 100% humidity, literally, and all the windows were open. It was very unpleasant. I asked the server if the windows could be closed. She said the manager would not allow it so we left. Ridiculous. I get it, there’s a table next to every window and you would have to approach each one to close a window but nobody was enjoying the outside weather. If I ask to sit inside, it had better be inside completely and not some in between space. Secondly, the remodel removed a lot of carpet which absorbed A LOT of noise so now it’s very loud when it gets busy. On second thought, this recount has brought back some negative feelings so no additional star. You remain at 2.

Took Moms out to lunch and we enjoyed every minute of it. THe last time I was at the restaurant the décor was a lot different, I love the new improvements that they have made to the restaurant. The seafood is fresh and I have no complaints. We went during the lunch hour, it wasnt really crowded, but it felt like the over fifty crowd was chillin together. As I always do, I had the shrimp pasta and loved it. If you ever want some where to take the family on Sunday, you should go here.

This is a favorite of my family for bday celebrations, etc. For me, it’s just ok. They recently renovated this location so there was some confusion as to where to enter. Thank goodness for the awning to indicate where the new entrance was. We didn’t have any reservations so we were seated in the bar area. Which, was way too loud to have a normal conversation. Service was spot on, though. Food wise… it was ok…

This restaurant is as good as it gets and our server Steve(wow) is also as good as it gets! My friend Eddie and I walked in on beautiful day today and was amazed with our service. Steve’s style, attention, and passion truly allowed us to have an amazing experience. I sure hope you will be there during dinner hours Steve because I will be back to see you and order from your awesome dinner menu! Next time, I wear my other boots.

The simple opinion is this place isn’t as good as it should be. Oyster freshness is a bit of a gamble, service is very friendly but you get the feeling they know(like we do) things aren’t quite up to par and are covering for it. The shrimp and scallops were better than average, but for $ 24 for 3 scallops and 4 medium size shrimp(plus 2 sides) I expected more than better-than-average. The non fish items, ironically, were the highlights of the meal. The fries, potato, bread and zucchini I very much enjoyed.

Kings has reemerged, following a renovation, and kitchen rebranding, better as a sustainable seafood purveyor. Poseidon was one of the twelve Olympian deities of the pantheon in Greek mythology. His main domain was the ocean, and he is called the«God of the Sea». Kings stately sets a table for fruits of the sea, and does so sensationally. Their raw bar, is briny & sweet — both Eastern & Pacific oysters; chilled shellfish platters; hand cut sushi rolls; flavorful chowders; and an ocean of choice, excellent, select, fish. Prepared grilled, blackened, fried, or fresh-flapping on your plate. From their house-stewed Cioppino with Wild Canadian Snow Crab to their New England Clam Bake, added to any lobster, to Grilled Farm British Columbia Salmon Tacos, all savor Poseidon’s domain with refinedness. And the warm sourdough bread pairs nicely with King’s Spicy Seafood Chowder(tomato based) or a chunky New England Clam Chowder. There are steak, chicken, and pasta entrees for the non-seafarers: All the same, a favorite is the Louie Salad with Romaine hearts, iceberg, cucumber, carrot, celery, tomato, onion, egg & avocado; with jumbo shrimp($ 17.45); with jumbo shrimp & lump crab($ 20.75); and with wild lump crab($ 21.75). Management is accommodating to all requests and celebrations and John as General Manager is congruous. Steve as Bar Manager /Server in the pub-like annexation is attentive and amusing, as are the cocktail napkins.

Had lunch here with a friend who is a local when we were in Portland in November. Really nice, well presented and great tasting food. Obviously, lobster is awesome(it’s from Maine!!). Loved the place — will definitely be back at some stage.

What started off as a bad beginning turned into a fabulous dining experience! We sat down and were given happy hour and regular dinner menus. Happy hour was ending in 15 minutes. After 20 minutes our waitress showed up only to tell us it was to late to order off the happy hour menu and she couldn’t do anything about it. I ordered a Pinot Grigio and was hit with the response .” We don’t have that” ??? Hmmm it clearly states on the menu 2 are available. Ok fine. The worst part was her unfriendly demeanor and lack of smile! I was just about to get up and say something when a manager(actually the GM John) came over and took over. He couldn’t have been nicer. He quickly took our order and was very apologetic. Our food arrived promptly and was delicious! We were also attended to by a lovely waitress Madison. Madison suggested we try the new butter cake. Wow! I thought Mastro’s had a great butter cake then tried Reunion Kitchen and Drinks butter cake and was impressed, however the new winner is Kings Fish house. Best warm butter cake served with a good scoop of vanilla ice cream a side of whip cream and berries! Great coffee too! Thank you John and Madison for your great customer service, friendly attitude and making our dining experience fantastic! Can’t wait to go back! BTW, the new interior décor is great! Cool vibe! Love the new entrance!

Comfortable, stylishly relaxed restaurant with plenty of seafood and other options. The oysters look gorgeous, the sushi sounds awesome, and the cooked fare we ordered was all pretty tasty, too. Pricier than we had thought when we Unilocaled it, but figuring the portions would be good-sized(and they are), we made it work without breaking the bank. And really, isn’t it more fun when you split things anyway? We started with the roasted beet salad, which was plenty to share. Aside from maybe more dressing than I favor, it delicious and satisfying.(Red & yellow beets, baby arugula, Drake Farms goat cheese, toasted pecans, dried cranberries & grapefruit red wine vinaigrette). While the kids are gnawing at their own arms and the awesome warm sourdough bread, you may want to order from the Kids Menu. Popcorn shrimp with a side of either fries or mac n cheese(might have others, too). These were a hit — and for scientific purposes, I can concur that they’re tasty. Not oily, a bit bready, but good. The Strawberry Lemonade has a great flavor and made we wish I had a sneaked in a flask of vodka. Actually, there’s plenty of Adult Bevs including some impressive-sounding craft cocktails, plus a perky wine list. Tried an unoaked Chardonnay(btg, half bottle or bottle), and was pretty much smitten by its casual, refreshing nature. OK, and do be careful of the aforementioned Sourdough Bread. It comes warm and the creamed butter is well worth tossing some calories overboard. To the main: The Wild Macadamia Nut Crusted Alaskan Halibut with orange ginger butter sauce is one of their more popular dishes, and it’s easy to see why. I could have gone with less of the orange ginger butter(you’re sensing my preferences here, I guess). Still, it’s a winner. Hard to argue with it. Perfect crusty crispiness pairs well with the meaty, succulent fish. In some ways, this dish reminded me of a certain chain that favors Cheesecake… as I recall one of their seafood dishes tastes good, but like it’s almost cheating with the buttery stuff. But, taken on its own, King’s Fish House is friendlier and more fun to be at. How can you not love a place whose menu states: WECHEERFULLYACCEPTRESPONSIBILITYFORYOURMEALNOMATTERHOWYOUORDERIT. The kicker is, though I didn’t see this til later — I already sensed that they do their best to accommodate. Exhibit A is the Staff. Delaney, our server, did everything to make things great — including her gentle guidance on our dessert choice. There are many to choose from here, and you probably can’t go wrong with any of them. A different, sort of unpredictable choice is the Hooked on Buttercake.’ Despite the pained name, it’s a dangerous great-white of a sweet. The creamy sweet-but-not-too-sweet middle is not just the in-house Frozen Vanila Custard. Nope, it’s a sweet cream cheese. Thank Neptune I didn’t know that, because that may have turned me away. But dive right in. It’s awesome. And it really wasn’t that expensive after all. We had a lot of good food for a fair price. (Kids can get a nice Chocolate Sundae. It’s not hot, but they may choose their ice-cream flavor)

So everyone knows that King’s Fish House has been a Pine Street landmark for many years now however it was mainly reserved for times when the parents or grandparents were visiting as it didn’t really scream ‘cool’ or ‘remarkable’. I heard of the restaurants renovation about a month ago but hadn’t made time to swing by until this past Friday when me and the bf went in for lunch. If I wrote this review a year ago I would have given this place a 2 out of 5 but now after this much overdue remodel this place stands as a solid 4.3 out of 5. Heres why: Service — Maybe I never realized it before but these servers are very attentive and friendly(shout out to Nick at the oyster bar and Steve at the bar). Ambiance — What a breath of fresh air this place now is… inviting, airy, relaxed and cool. Such a great change from the dark and old-timey place this place was a year ago. Food — Food has always been solid here but I feel like this place got tastier with the remodel. Drinks — The cocktail menu got such a great makeover too! No longer are they mixing the libations with fake schnapps and puckers but now they are giving you the real deal with fresh ingredients. I ordered the Agave Sting which consisted of: silver tequila, fresh lime, jalapeños, basil and pineapple with an ancho chili salt rim. SODAMNAMAZING! Light, not too sweet and perfect. I usually fancy the margaritas at Agave’s but this one is now taking the lead. I was not expecting such a great drink to come out of Kings’s and for $ 7 on HH how could you not want this?! What was ordered(also our usual order here): Seafood Cobb Salad: Jumbo shrimp and bay scalops, avocado, tomato, bacon, blue cheese and egg. Perfection. If you want a HUGE salad, order this. Louie Salad: Romaine hearts, iceberg, cucumber, carrort, celery, tomato, onion, egg and avocado with LOTS of wild lump crab. Though I would have preferred this without carrots this is still one of my favorites Louie’s. Some great oysters that Nick at the oyster bar recommended… SOMEATY and exactly what you should be eating on a Friday afternoon. If you are not an oyster aficionado definitely ask for some recommendations because these were amazing. Really excited that this place is something again and whoever was behind this remodel. Job well done sir. We can’t wait to go back.

You would think that a Friday evening would result in slow service or bad food. I would say that was not the case. Service was on target and food was seasoned well and tasted fresh. It as a great night.

After hours out on the water today(whale watching!), we were really craving seafood. King’s Fish House serves legitimate American seafood. The restaurant is spacious and since it is close to the water, the evening marine breeze is quite pleasant if you sit next one of their open windows. I had the 1.75−2-pound lobster with New England clam bake. The lobster was very, very filling. The seafood also included clams, mussels, red potatoes, corn on the cob, drawn butter and a lemon broth dipping broth. The lobster was $ 38.50(great deal) and adding on the clam bake was $ 5.95. My two complaints about this order are sand in some of the clams and several unopened clams and mussels that I had to toss. Ick. Please don’t put those on my platter if you see they haven’t opened! We also got 1.5-pounds of Alaskan king crab legs. The meat was plentiful and sweet. For $ 47.50, I thought this was quite the steal. It came with two sides. Others are the table got the filet mignon and lobster tail which looked very good! The steak looked absolutely perfect and thick($ 45.75). They have several king salmon options on the menu. They all looked really good and I hope to come back to try in the future. Nothing like grubbing on some seafood after watching whales dive to feed. I’d totally come back here.

I came here with friends to eat for the 4th of July. We were seated right away, and we opted for outside seating. I liked to low lighting that the patio had, and I usually like to sit outside for the fresh air. The street was alive with people of all ages walking around the celebrating Independence Day. Out waitress, Krystal, was very knowledgeable in recommending the right dishes for our varying tastes. I ordered the swordfish, with a baked potato, and veggies. I also had a shot of patron, which was the perfect complement to my meal. The place is pretty big, and there is plenty of seating both inside and outside. The staff is very professional, and Krystal was very attentive to our needs. I will be back here, as the food and the customer service was on point. Thanks for making our 4th of July experience superb!
