Just moved to the area and I stalked out the right place. I’ll do anything to avoid corporate chain groomers and we are glad to have found this place. The vibe is awesome and so are the people. My ona loved it there and she was well groomed and shedding is gone! I have a forty pound golden retriever border collie and she is looking fancy pants. Looking forward to brining the fat cats for dinosaur and lion cuts next month. I only wish my dog was a light color to get some fancy dye job I see they are fantastic at. Prices are really good. We will be staying with these guys for sure.

I have taken my pup to many different groomers over the past 8 years and can hands down say this is the BEST groomer I’ve been to! The wife and husband who own and work in the shop are always so friendly and accommodating to my last minute schedule. My pup always leaves smelling amazing and very happy!

I love love love Messy Mutt! I love the owners Steve and Kayleigh (might be misspelled) lol they are seriously the best! I always bring my kids here. (My dogs) they know and remember them perfectly every time I call. I have three dogs and each of them get crazy amounts of love from them. My babies always love going to the groomer a and I feel like they actually have a really great bond with the groomers as well. Always loving and playful. They always let me know when they can squeeze me in for all my dogs. Even if it’s last minute, sometimes they take me in as a regular customer. I highly recommend them! They always let me know if they find anything wrong with my babies and give me options on how to take care of it. Which I always appreciate. Letting me know if I should take them to the vet or if they need special shampoo. Baby, Million, and Gold love Messy Mutt as I do. Honestly, the only place I go to because my babies deserve nothing but the best! I’d give them 10 stars if I could. This was a long time coming review lol. I have been with them for over a year now.

I found this place walking down Broadway and when I walked in with my Husky (Kai) I immediately felt the warmth and friendliness. They took Kai in as a walk-​in without and issues and assured me that they could take care of her insane blow-​out. Once they were done they gave me a call to tell me, but my hair appointment was running late… They went on to tell me that Kai didn’t really like the Kennels, so they were just going to give her a dog bed in the common area to make sure she was happy!!! HOW AMAZING IS THIS!!!
Once I picked her up I spoke with Steve (I believe) and he was just amazing
They even threw in a few freebies plus you get $ 5 off for your first visit.
Let me just say this; This was hands down the BEST grooming I’ve EVER had for Kai.
She looked like a brand new dog.

Love love love them. I only have my dog Bronco literally 3 months out of the year. Otherwise he’s my mom’s dog and lives in Colorado the rest of the time. They remember him each time and take such good care of him while he’s there. They’re awesome and really care for every animal that comes through there!

Just called and the owner Steve was so cool. Offered me $ 5 off on our first shampoo and also free desheading solution. Looks like we found our place.

Just called… Asked if he had an opening for a same day appointment and the worker said «hell no»… I’m sure he does great work. But not very professional.

I love calling to make a grooming appointment and at the mention of my dog’s name, the receiver is familiar with who I am and what I usually get done to my Shih Tzu.
The customer service and friendliness of the owners are unmatched. It does help that the last time I brought Nello into get groomed, without being guided, he walked directly into one of the open crates. That to me was a great sign that he is treated well and that he does not associate the crate with perhaps a bad or unpleasant experience.
I’m glad I found this hidden treasure especially now that I pay $ 15 less than what I use to pay taking Nello to Pussy & Pooch in Belmont.

What a great place to get your dog groomed. I have been to other places before and they charged an arm and a leg for a haircut and it turned me off to the idea of getting my dog groomed regularly.
Messy mutt to the rescue! I noticed all the great reviews here and decided to go there. The owners are very nice and you can tell they love what they do. They have great communication and their prices were perfect. I have now been there twice and my pup (Sydney) love it and he always looks so handsome when they finish with him.

I have found my new favorite spot to have Rupert Giles get his wash and grooming. Michelle was great with Rupert. Rupert is an English Bulldog who can be a handful at 70lbs. He also can be very scared around other dogs. Michelle was so good with him. Everyone was. They let me see the place and even hang out with them while he got his bath. He is so clean and I can see all his little black dots on his white coat. If you have an animal that is hard to wash this is the place. They even washed a cat that day.

I love messy mutts! I have been taking my three dogs to them for awhile and I would never go anywhere else. The owners are soooo sweet and compassionate and also very knowledgable about all the different dog breeds. They take the time to make your pets comfortable with them which is awesome! On top of the amazing work they do, their prices are great as well.
My dogs are a Pomeranian, chihuahua, and chihuahua poodle mix. The chihuahua is short haired and easy to work with; the chi-​poo has nice hair that just gets buzzed off. The Pom is a piece of work since he has very dry, corse hair and skin. These guys do such an amazing job on him and do whatever they can to hydrate his hair. For anyone who is a Pom owner, this is the place to take you dog!

I cannot even describe how pleased I am to have found Messy Mutts!!! I have a not so easy, «difficult» Pom (as I was told by previous groomers). After I was told by his previous groomer that they could not bathe him, I was back on the drawing board looking for a new shop.
And here I found Messy Mutts on Unilocal.DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE REVIEWS; they are worth 10++ starts!!! They are amazing!!! No restraints, no muzzles, no sprayers, and they have lots of patience!
I messaged them and received a response within minutes, on their day off. Yep, I felt special. Lol I spoke to the owner and I was in tears because I just felt horrible for putting my baby through so much stress with groomers and he assured me that they will take great care of him.
The day came, they blocked off several hours just for us so they can take their time with him. They welcomed me to stay through the whole process and they didn’t just jump right into the grooming. They sat down, talked, (tried to) play, (At this point my dog knew what’s up) and then they began bathing/​grooming him.
To my surprise, my dog was cooperative. One scream here and there but nothing like the previous experience he’s had. She spoke to him sweetly, soft to touch, and very very patient.
They told me that he seemed to be traumatized from his previous grooming experiences and that broke my heart. I broke into tears. The thought of someone forcing him to being groomed and possibly being mistreated, angered and sadden me. Lesson learned.
After a couple of hours, he was done. I’ve never seen him not fight the whole process. Amazed! They are by far the best groomers and people! Thanks again guys! See you soon.

My dog is 8 years old, and has seen some terrible groomers in her day. This place not only makes her happy but shows that they genuinely care. They are great at communicating, are very knowledgeable, and honestly I would recommend anyone and everyone to this place. It makes me happy to know there are places in the world like this, and they are perfectly located in the LBC. Keep doing amazing things Meassy Mutt! Yall are changing the face of grooming one dog at a time!

Since SoCal’s corgi beach day changed locations from Huntington to Rosie’s Beach, I was required to find a new groomer since I’m not from around the area. So I found this nice little place on Unilocal.
They did an amazing job on my pup even though he can be a handful when it comes to baths. I appreciated how patient and loving they were to him throughout the process, and I would definitely come back if I were in the area.
On top of that they gave him a little nice butt trim that makes him look fab.

Just moved to the Long Beach (Bluff Park area) from DTLA and was looking to find a great groomer for my corgi, Wilbert… Fortunately, I was walking Wilbert in Bluff Park and came across a guy (Greg) with another corgi and asked where he took him to be groomed. He mentioned Messy Mutt, noting the great work they did with his dog who looked pretty good.
I called to make an appointment and luckily they had availability that same day. It’s a very nice shop and the first thing I noticed was how clean and fresh-​smelling everything was. The couple, Steve and Kaleigh introduced themselves to me and Wilbert. It was a very friendly atmosphere. I explained that Wilbert was a heavy shedder (double-​coat) and exactly what I wanted done. Every question I asked they had an answer, as you know we doggie lovers are very concerned about the care of our babies.
When I asked about the price, I was expecting $ 60 – 75 as that is what I normally pay. When Steve said $ 35 ($ 5 first time discount) I nearly flipped, after explaining everything I wanted. He said a lot of places overcharge for things that don’t take a lot of effort. Steve and Kaleigh really seemed to enjoy what they do and that is always nice when leaving your baby in someone else’s hands. I got a call back within the estimated time and when I returned to pick up Wilbert I was pleasantly surprised.
He looked amazing. His coat was so soft with no shedding (if you have a corgi, you know exactly what I mean). I was so tickled when Steve said that Wilbert nodded off during his bath soak. Again, was really impressed with these guys and they were even nice enough to recommend a local vet upon request. Wilbert will definitely be back!
