This place is a kind of a hidden gem. The service is really good, and the food is great. I can’t speak to the quality of the food in comparison to other Mexican places, but to me it’s good. It’s family-friendly, and is good to eat at, but especially good when you want to pick up an order. This being Long Beach, don’t expect to find parking nearby.

I loved this place back in the 90’s. They had a different cook who I believed was the owner and the food was much richer and had some soul. Now, it’s not as good as they do have a new cook, the menu has changed and there are not as many selections but I understand that is always a money decision. That’s fine… The food is on the higher end of ok now and that really depends on what you’re ordering. I would still go there, but not rave as much as I used to.

Great little Mexican spot right off Broadway. Always get the Chile Relleno with a nice cold beer. Always take out of towners here for a good inexpensive meal!

Food is just mediocre, but giving it 4 stars for good service and friendly wait staff. They changed their homemade chicken soup to chicken tortilla soup(still homemade) but it doesn’t taste the same. It had less chicken and veggies but more broth I suppose for the tortilla strips(?). Salsa isn’t as spicy as it used to be but their green salsa is to die for!

My first time visit was the other day. The chicken combination burrito was gigantic and tasted great. And the price was very reasonable. I went back a few days later to get the Albondigas soup and that too was excellent. That easily turned into 2 meals. So this gets 4 stars! Would have been 5 stars if it had a full bar… Chris on Wisconsin Ave

The food here is really fresh and delicious and they serve huge portions at very reasonable prices(3 cheese enchilada plate with rice, beans, and salad for $ 9). The owners treat you like a guest in their home and the homemade sangria has lots of fresh fruit and is delicious! The chips are hot and the fresh guacamole is chunky and yummy! I will definitely be back!

mi lupita has updated their place and i like it a lot! they list a few craft beers on the menu which i really liked, but it turned out they were out of most of them when i visited a few weeks ago. the tacos on taco tuesday are a great deal and are really delish. the green sauce is sooooo yummy. only reason i took away a star from my review is that there were quite a few moths flying around in the dining room and i noticed a lot of them on the wall in the back when i was on my way to the restroom. hope they figure that out. :/

Aw man, where to start. Came here with my girlfriend on a Wednesday, we had gone to merceds the night before but we wanted to try the other taco shop on broadway. 1. Well firstly the tacos are absolutely far below my standard of items that should be even considered as food. We ordered 2 chicken and 2 Carne Asada tacos. Those are two basic menu items at any mexican restaurant. Both tacos tasted exactly the same. And by that I mean, flavorless. Even dousing it in sauce did nothing. Adding sauce to the taco would make it taste purely like sauce. It was like eating cardboard, but worse because cardboard is consistent and here you’d eventually bite into a piece of fat, which is normal in any taco, but it was a very uncomfortable flavorless ball of clay in this case. 2. The price of a single taco is 2.50. A single, sub-par, street taco… $ 2.50 That’s right 4 tacos ended up being 10 dollars. 3. Not only are the tacos gross and overpriced. Even the appetizer chips are overpriced, as in… They have a price. $ 1.50 or so. And don’t think that includes unlimited refills either, every small basket of chips is $ 1.50. 4. The two ladies with very sarcastic attitudes working there when I went. They basically stayed and chatted at the counter with each other the entirety of the time I was there and only came to us to deliver us our food. We were the only ones in the restaurant at 6:30pm. Probably for a reason. In conclusion, 4 tacos, 1 small plate of chips, two waters, and a forced tip they did not deserve cheated me out of 15 dollars. Merceds tacos 2 blocks down the street has actual tacos for a VERY Decent price. Just go to Merceds instead.

The service is horrible… they act like they’re busy and they can’t be bothered(we were the ONLY customers in there at the time). Then, if you ask for more chips and salsa, it shows up on your bill without them even telling you that they will charge you for them. The food is overpriced and isn’t that good. Rude grouchy people who hate their jobs

Just moved to this area a few months ago and this is my FAVORITE little Mexican joint around. I’ve tried a few other spots recommended by people near by and Mi Lupita is much better. The food is great and the salsas are drinkable– as in squirt the entire bottle of green sauce into your mouth because it is EPIC– that kind of drinkable. Plus they do a bottle of champagne and a carafe of OJ for like 12 bucks all week long. There is also the sweetest lady that works there and I wish I knew her name because she does a great job and she is always so friendly.

Update: I returned to Mi Lupita a few days ago because they deserved another chance, but still… No Bueno! I Love the waitresses; very sweet, and it is not their fault. Plain and simple, the food Is just okay now. What happened!?! New management? No Bueno… Flavors changed and should now be called something other than Mexican, because this once amazing restaurant with authentic mexican flavors has lost the ‘mexican.’ Even the rice and beans have lost their charm here, which is very sad… Also, coke is bottles is 3 $… It is 2 $ at most restaurants.

This is 45 minutes of waiting, cold we ass burrito. I usually give a benefit of a doubt, BUT5 people here and no reason for crappie service

Giving them two stars: one for being an operating business and the second one for the food not making me sick. Food is overpriced and mediocre at best. A side of rice and beans cost the same as a bean and cheese burrito. WTF? And it’s at about $ 5 a plate. Which isn’t much if you’re going to eat it but the food wasn’t very palatable. I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised by this place because it’s walking distance from where I live, but I dont think ill be coming back.

I frequent this restaurant allot. I like the lunch specials and I love the chili relenos. About a month ago, I stopped by for lunch and noticed that there was no lunch special. I thought no problem, I will just order the relenos … WTH … they were not on the menu. Then I took a closer look at the prices of the menu. Everything had gone up about 20 percent. I decided to order the new barbacoa burrito which turned out OK … at best. I talked to the staff of which they told me the restaurant was under new management. Change is supposed to come with a benefit … Higher prices, less choices, and no lunch leader is a move in the wrong direction. It is too bad. This was one of my favorite places to take dates for inexpensive Mexican food. I guess It is back to Del Taco. Mindy is not going to be happy.

My girlfriend is new in town and was pretty hot about trying this place out; I went along with it because we hadn’t eaten all day and were starving. In short: Terrible burito, good guacamole dip, 45 $ for a night of desperately clinging to the toilet bowl. Ladies and gentlemen just be careful with this place. Update: 36 hours later and I am still vomiting and thinking about the E.R. I’ll be contacting the city tomorrow

~~~Taco Tuesdaaaay!!~~~ Made my way down to Long Beach for a café I had bookmarked but never made it there. Parked in front of Mi Lupita and I noticed a sign that read, «Taco Tuesday» with the following offered: $ 1 street tacos, $ 4 margaritas, & $ 5 micheladas. Well, it was Tuesday afternoon… how can I pass up such a great deal, right? The place was kinda empty with one couple seated near the front of the restaurant. I started with 3 street tacos: chicken, carnitas, & carne asada. They came out hot and freshly made with cilantro and onions. The chicken was moist and the carne asada was juicy. However, the carnitas lacked fIavor. I ordered two more chicken tacos and another carne asada taco, along with one blended strawberry margarita. Yum! Overall, service was quick, considering it was quite empty. 6 street tacos with one blended margarita for around $ 10? Not bad! This small hole-in-the wall resto is a good spot to grab a bite and catch up with friends.
