Moxi Roller Skate Shop

This is a beautiful shop that has a ton of things perfect for casual skating, roller derby and bowls. Been here a few times and each time I have walked away happy… and a little less in my wallet.
They have a TON of stuff for Moxi skates (hence the name). So many outdoor wheels to choose from in all colors and styles! One of my favorite things in this shop is their toe stop bowl. Where you can just buy 1 toe stop (for when you only wore down one) instead of needing to get a pair.

I had help from Doll from California Roller Skates in Huntington Beach for sizing, but purchased my skates from here because I had store credit I needed to use.
Moxi didn’t have my size so I had to order my skates. I was anxiously counting down the days for when my skates would come in (which I was given a 2 – 3 week estimate), but it ended up only taking 1 week!
I bought lower end Riedell skates, Chaya toe stops, heat moldable toe cap, and helmet and I’m so happy with all of my purchases. I also met the owner, Pigeon, today and she’s really sweet. Try to come in when she’s working.

Today I had the pleasure of meeting Pigeon and Milli, both working at Moxi Roller Skate Shop. I went in for some new wheels and they went above and beyond answering my questions, giving me great suggestions and even adjusting and adding the wheels on my skates… they never rushed me and genuinely seemed to love what they do! I can’t rave enough about this skate shop! Thank you ladies! I will be telling all about your awesome skate shop!

The guy there seemed uninterested, but he did place an order for new wheels supposedly. He said he would call me when they came in. I totally forgot about it because I didn’t pay up front for the wheels. After a few months passed. I called for status. Still nothing. Customer service follow up not the best. The young lady there was in training. Full of energy and nice. Hope he doesn’t rub off on her.

I ordered a pair of expensive skates online with 3 day shipping.
8 days later, I still haven’t received my order or any response from the company.
The business phone number is also offline.
I was really trying to have these by Christmas & now it’s not looking like that’s gonna happen.
Weak.

Honest, knowledgable, friendly service and they never try to oversell you. One stop shop for everything skate related. If they don’t have they’ll order it.

I’ve been saving and longing for my own pair of Moxie’s– I’m so thrilled to finally own my dream skates! I’ve seen their skates many times– usually the Internet websites such as Pinterest and Tumblr. I’ve also spotted them at Urban outfitters.
I’m so glad I waited to go to the official Moxie skate store! If I decided to purchase them elsewhere, I would have received a completely stock model. Here at the storefront — you have the ability to customize your wheels. I had so much difficulty choosing my color combinations… the possibilities are endless! Thankfully, the gentleman who helped me out was very patient and encouraging. He was the manager, but was humble to everyone that walked into the store and remained friendly toward my friend and I.
I recommend this store to any seasoned skaters or amateur ones– the employees are more than happy to help you out and are VERY honest.

Come here for all my roller skate needs. My family all roller skates and this is where we go for everything. Pigeon and Jacob will take of you and are super cool.

Yesterday my friend and I were determined to learn how to skate. We went to Moxi and had an awesome sales rep. He was attentive, social and most of all he went out of his way to search for skates since they didn’t have two of the same pair of skates. He told us about the Roller Derby, skating lessons and most of told us where we should skate in Long Beach since it was our first time. He was truly an awesome person. Thank Moxi for making our skating experience a great one.

Came in the other day with my mother to buy skates for me as a 21^st birthday gift. For someone who works in customer service, I know what crappy service looks like & I must say the service was subpar. The young man & young blonde girl working that day were rather listless & barely made any effort in assisting us. I found that it was a little bit hard to talk to them. They definitely appeared as if they didn’t even want to be there. My mother & I almost walked out! We ended up placing an order because they were trying to sell me an obviously old & faded display pair of skates! When my skates came in, the guy showed me how to unscrew the breaks & put it back on which is the most help I ever got out of him surprisingly. However, I’m guessing he didn’t screw it back on properly as one of them fell out while I was skating today. It’s a shame. I used to skate here with my girls back in high school & back then the people working there were sweet & accommodating & were always willing to answer any questions we had. I won’t be coming back.

Love this skate shop. The staff was very helpful. I just ordered a new pair of skates and I cannot wait to get them! The shop is small and hot inside but, there is a good selection of everything you need. The area its in is super cute with all the shops and close to the shore. I love my skater socks I just got there and I will be going back!

this was my first time at the shop, I went in Yesterday to buy me some new skates!
I had an old pair of them laying around the house… and i took them in and Pigeon gave me store credit (which was awesome) the girl that helped me out was super cool and friendly and not stuck up… lol… she helped me choose the perfect skates!
and gave me all kinds of advice and made sure I had no more questions when i walked out the door!
I will definitely be coming back here for all the cute little things they have!

My first visit to Moxi was in April 2014 — I had never been on roller skates before, but was hell-​bent on learning so I could play roller derby! Pigeon helped me with everything I needed, and gave me great recommendations on all my gear. My skates fit perfectly, and I have continued to go back for anything I have needed because of Pigeon & Jacob’s awesome knowledge and advice. Plus they offer skating lessons! Whether you are a roller girl or just looking for a healthy & fun way to exercise, this is definitely the place to go :)

The employees are very helpful and personable, although a tad bit of unorganized, or perhaps just more laid back thean what I am used to. I did get assistance finding a great pair of skates and was delighted that a free rollerskating lesson came with them. I’d absolutely go back again.

Just went in today and bought a pair of black sure grip skates and I’m in love!!! «Pigeon» was super helpful and friendly. She told me about lessons and about local roller derby leagues. The shop is also located on Retro Row and is super adorable.

Knowledgeable and friendly staff. I’ve found the same item at other places for cheaper however (up to $ 8) but the location is very convenient if you’re in long beach and you can’t make it to other similar shops in LA and orange county.

Came in to the shop for the first time today. Great vibe and very personable. They were there to help you and answer any questions. They let you take your time (and did I ever… I wanted to make sure I got a good comfy pair) and I never felt pressured to hurry or make a purchase.
They have a great selection of both skates and accessories.
I just love my new skates and the (new i believe) owner. We will defiantly be back!
The only downfall is the location… parking is quite difficult (but we did go on a Sat)

I’ve held off on writing a review on this shop for so long but after seeing all the 5 star reviews I just HAVE to say something. I purchased bearings at the shop over the summer. When opened the box and went to work putting them in my wheels, I noticed one was squished and wouldn’t roll. I pulled them back out of my wheels and back in the box and went back to moxi. I came in and explained what was up, the woman in the shop said they had no more bearings in stock (seriously you are a skate shop how do you not have bearings?) and then decided to act entitled and just point at the sign that read «no refunds or exchanges.» All she had to do was replace the one bad bearing. I will not return to this Moxi shop, I went all the way up to Hermosa to get bearings and he owner of the shop there just swapped my bad bearing for a good one. It’s worth driving to not use this shop again.
Since then I’ve heard a number of complaints from local derby girls who will not shop at this shop for similiar reasons. Apparently the woman who runs the shop also has something to do with the derby girls so no one will write a bad review even though they feel the same way.

I was told by several people, that the skates sold at Big 5, Sports Authority and Sports Chalet were not the best in quality and that I would have to buy another pair after a month or two of derby. So I went in search for a decent pair of derby skates … I just didn’t know where look! My friend and fellow derby skater «Hell Toro» recommended this place and we were on our way to shop!
Moxi Skate Shop is actually located in the back of Lil Devils Boutique.
I walked in and saw derby posters and calendars all over the walls, with old school skates hanging from the ceiling! The new skates were on racks on one side and in the glass case, the outdoor/​indoor wheels were on display, next to bags and boxes of candy (Pop Rocks, Skittles, Mike and Ike’s and Jujyfruits) to match the color of the wheels!
«Estro» (the owner of the shop) asked me what was I looking for and what my budget was. I told her that I was looking for everything I needed for derby and she had it all! Cushy 187 Knee Pads, Elbow Pads, Wrist guards, Knee gaskets, Helmets, cute long socks, colorful shoe laces and my skates!
She showed me a variety of skates that were within my needs. I was looking for a pair that would last a good eight months of practice (aka pain and torture) and wouldn’t cost me an arm and a leg! Some skates can go as high as $ 800! I finally picked mine out, some shiny new Red, Riedell «Diablos»! I found the remaining items I needed and I handed over my card. Charge it! Since I was joining the derby league, she also gave me a 10% discount on everything!
