Razorbacks Barber Shop

Razorbacks was a short but great experience. Short meaning quick and easy. Willy trimmed my beard like a boss and was helpful in giving advice for maintaining my beard.

I asked for a trim to a hairstyle that I sported for some time. After communicating that I liked my present style and just wanted a trim, my barber gave me a new style, in hipster fashion. Unfortunately, I did not want a hipster haircut. I liked the style I had prior and only needed a trim. I will now be sporting a hat for a few weeks until I can get another cut.
I expect from a barbershop that a barber listens to the client. This did not happen and while the venue had a cool presence and veneer — I lost trust that barber and question returning at all to the venue. Even if Razorbacks is a hipster barbershop, not all clients want a hipster haircut.

This place is great! The atmosphere here is comfortable and friendly and most importantly all the cuts are extremely clean. I go see RJ and every cut iv had has been consistent, you can tell the quality to detail is very important here. If you want a clean cut and a reliable barber check out Razorbacks.
Only tip I can think of is to call and make an appointment before, although iv had a couple walk ins, just in case its busy.

$ 30 for a fade is pretty pricey. shocking actually.

Jessie is awesome. So is Razorback’s! Before I went here I had my sis cut my hair for fun. I was planning on just buzzing my head but she carved a hawk out of it. Thought I’d keep it around for a week just for shit’s n giggles… ended up getting an interview halfway thru the week.
Went in and not only got hooked up by Jess, but especially with what I gave him to work with, he worked magic. Thanks Jessie!

Today was my first day here. I came to get my beard trim. I think they did nice work. I will definitely come back here.

Let me start by saying I’ve lived here for about four months now because I attend the university here and I’ve been longing to find a place to cut my hair.
Back home my mom was a hair stylist and she would cut my hair every weekend and I really got use to that. Once I moved down here I was Unilocaling barbershops and comparing reviews. In the end I came here.
Walked into the shop and was immediately greeted and was told I could sit in the waiting area since I was 30min early until my barber was done with his client.
The place was really rad and had a great vibe. I sat down and was looking around and was offered water or a beer. I asked how much the beer was and the said complimentary. I immediately said yes!
I drank my beer and continued to look around and examine the place. Finally my barber came over and greeted me and brought me to his chair. Asked what kind of hair cut I wanted and got to work. I was very pleased with my hair cut and the service here!
Overall price was $ 30 and I gave him a $ 5 tip. I guess this could be a little pricey, but I feel that it was well worth it. Will be coming back here again.

After 6 months I decided it was time for a hair cut. I made an evening appointment at Razorbacks. I live locally so thought I’d try it out. As soon as I entered I was offered a beer while I wait. That’s worth a couple stars on its own. My barber Brain introduced himself and sat me down. Quick talk about what I’d like and how to go about the cut.
It was quick comfortable and at the end I got a hot towel, quick massage, and straight razor around my ears. I’ll definitely be a return customer. Excellent service.

Jair gave my 7 year old a decent cut, but it took him 20 minutes to do an uneven fade. He used a razor to edge a child which is an absolute NO-​NO. But the killer was the $ 25 charge. That’s ridiculous for a fade. He says he normally charges $ 35 for a haircut & shave. Okay, that’s overpriced too. I’m not the only one with this complaint. There’s nothing that they’re doing in this shop worth what they’re charging. My advice-​find a barber that realizes that there are different kinds of cuts that should be priced accordingly.

I’ve heard good things about this place so I decided to check it out. They give you a beer, which is cool, but pretty standard practice in Long Beach’s coastal barbershops.
Anyways, I set up an appointment for 5 pm and showed up about ½ an hour earlier than expected. They handed me a beer and told me to wait while my barber was ready. so the barber I was assigned (not going to disclose any names) was not busy at all. in fact. he was just standing around hanging out with the other barbers in front me the whole time until my scheduled appointment, at which point he called me over. Okay, I get it. I had an appointment, but what’s the harm in cutting my hair earlier if there are no other customers instead of just hanging out?
So I sat down and asked the barber for my cut… «executive contour, tapered fade on the sides please.» His response… «what is that?» I should have probably walked out at that point, but I didn’t want to be rude so I pulled up a picture of my phone. The guy took a quick look at it and said, «oh okay, a gentleman’s cut, got it!» I asked if he was sure and he said yes.
This dude then proceeds to give me what was basically an ivy league, no taper, no fade… (an ivy league is basically a crew cut with the front long). I was pretty upset, but it’s not like he could uncut my hair. I tipped him $ 5 and left.
Basically, I paid $ 35 for what is a $ 10 super cuts haircut. extremely under-​whelmed. Who knows, maybe I got a knew guy with little experience and they have better barbers. I, for one, will not be stopping by here again. There are plenty of other barbershops in LBC with talented barbers.
tl;dr pricey. $ 35 for a $ 10 cut. there are better places in LBC.

I would definitely recommend this shop. I had RJ cut my hair. I wasn’t sure what style I wanted so I showed RJ some pictures, he said «I got you.» Once he was done he held the mirror up & he nailed it. These guys are pro’s and it’s a great barber shop atmosphere. The cut was $ 30 but I truly believe that you get what you pay for. Razorbacks is my kinda place and I’ll be a regular there.

The haircut was ok. Nothing too great. Nothing bad either. The price ($ 30) for a regular low fade was definitely overpriced. Especially they didn’t bother putting gel in my hair at the end. Cool place. Looks busy. Just not for me. I’m not cool with $ 30 fades every week. Asked about the hair paste price and those little cans of paste cost $ 26. That’s straight ridonkulous. I won’t be coming here anymore but if you have to money to overspend on a haircut then it’s cool.

I’ve been coming here since December 2013. Started getting my cuts done by Michael Santillanes from day one and couldn’t be happier with his work. As far as the shop it’s clean, I get to drink beer and kick it. I don’t really have interactions ever from the other people that work there, which is fine by me cause Mike is always welcoming and that’s more than enough. If you don’t mind paying a little over $ 20 for a haircut then I would recommend this place. The hair products they sell are also pricey too.

Had a few haircuts here from several barbers. Pedro hooks it up, friendly, and I was happy with the cut.
The other times I’ve gone I got a cut from Johnny. Mediocre haircut, Dude was rude. Acted like it was an inconvenience to be cutting my hair. The last time I went at the end of the cut, Johnny just walked into the back and didn’t come back out. Haha… We get it dude. You’re cool. Paid the guy at the front. That alone makes me not want to go back.

This spot is legit. I have had my hair cut a few times by Pedro and he is a perfectionist. Man this guy can cut hair and i highly recommend him. Now it’s been some time for me since i have been to Razorback because it’s not the closest place to me but I am well overdue and when i am ready i’m sure Pedro will be there to take care of me.

Super LBC vintage unfinished look. Everything looks antique. The floor is completed unfinished but fits the look of this place. All the stylists are tatted from head to toe. It almost reminds me of a tattoo shop. I am surprised it’s not Razorbacks Barber Shop/​Tattoo. I’m just kidding bro.

The last time i was there I asked for a Flat-​Top style cut. I wanted to look like Guile from Street Fighter. I have really strong wavy hair and its really hard to work with but Pedro is a Master and he styled my hair into a perfect Flat-​Top. I wish i would have taken a photo of it. It was a work of art.

Unlike some other barber shops that are by appointment only Razorbacks is flexible and won’t turn anyone away. Now that’s how it should be. Expect to wait a little bit but everyone will get there turn i promise.

I’d say that Razorbacks are pretty competitive with their pricing for hair cuts. It all just depends on what you want but they are reasonable. If you want a certain style it might be more expensive.

I called and scheduled an appointment. Once I walked in I was greeted and seated within 20seconds. The place looked super clean and well kept. The barber was super nice and was really easy going. Keep in mind it was my first time there and i will return real soon.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

The boyfriend will never do this himself, but he’s been getting his hair cut by Joel at Razorbacks for over a year now and it’s the best! He’s had a few hiccups and bad experiences at some other spots in LB, but the week after he first came here, no shit — he got a huge promotion at work.
His favorite part about this place, however, is that nobody talks to you if you don’t want them to.

Good vibe when you walk in. Great people. Amazing hair cuts. Worth the price.

So i’ve been on the hunt for the perfect barber ever since I realized that I’ve been going to the same Fantastic Sam’s since I was 7 years old. I am now closer to 30 than I’d like to admit, so it’s definitely time for a change. In researching barbers, I came across what seemed to be a very trendy, almost cult-​like barber shop culture specific to Long Beach and this is the first Long Beach barber shop I’ve tried out. I had a very positive experince with the exception of a couple small things but the good definitely heavily outweighed the bad.
The good: I made an appointment and was seen within 10 minutes of my appointment time. I don’t remember my barber’s name but he is a true artist. He made me look better than I’ve looked in the past. I’m not a model by any means but I was so pleased with the way I looked, I took a selfie (which I will attach to my review), uploaded it to instagram, and also made it my profile picture on Facebook. I wouldn’t say my barber was the most personable person but he made me look good and really that’s all I care about =).
So there was one slight thing that I felt the need to dock half a star for. As I mentioned, I made an appointment. When I called and made the same day appointment, the guy that ansswered the phone, made my appointment for a couple hours later, and was very polite. I arrived, checked in, and was offered a drink. When I sat in my barber’s chair he asked me what I wanted and I told him I wanted a haircut and a full shave to start Movember right, he asked if I had said that when I made my appointment. I wasn’t asked when I called and didn’t know I was supposed to mention the specific services that I wanted. Maybe this is common knowledge and I’m just ignorant to the fact that you’re supposed to do this. But my barber said that he wouldn’t be able to give me a full shave because he had an appointment after me but that would buzz it really short so I could shave it myself.
I was looking forward to getting the full shebang but if I were the customer after me I guess I would appreciate my barber not budging to his previous client’s request and making me wait longer to get my haircut. it was a small thing and I was extremely pleased with how well he cut my hair, that I feel that if i do go back here, I will mention everything I want done when I make my appointment and will probably be inclined to update my review to five stars.
