Just an update: They are not re-​opening on Broadway after all. So I guess they are gone for good!

I love this place. The food is soooo good and the vibe is awesome. I had my 40^th birthday here and it was a dream come true.
My fav is the french toast and the wine is great!
Sometimes the service may be a little slow but the food is always worth the wait!

Arrived Thursday evening, stood at the front extrance for quite some time with no greeting/​acknowledgment from ANY staff… not good
A few empty tables, service pretty bad, here’s why: restaurant staff needs to have a pulse, and be able to speek to customers, it was really odd. Our waiter kept getting interupted by another worker with lame questions, like while he was trying to tkae our order. Our waiter seemed irritated by this but couldn’t shake the kid. Ordered the Mango Chicken (i can cook better at home) and the Met. burger which was OK. We were really excited to try this new place. Appearance seems dirty and unkept, bugs flying around, needs help. Sorry won’t be back. Waste of money even with a Groupon!

It was OK.
The good: Service was amazing, and the bread and olive oil were great!
The mediocre: The sweet potato fries were missing something… Gorgonzola burger was good, smokehouse burger a bit dry.
All in all it was OK, but I wouldn’t drive too far for it.

Small local restaurant that seats around 25 – 30, so wait can be long at times. My friend called ahead with a reservation for 4, but when we got there they said they didn’t see our name on the list. We waiting for 30 minutes.
Once seated we looked over the menu, waited, and waited until our order was taken. Then long after the order was taken our water or bread was still not out. Had to ask for water twice and bread before we got any.
I like to say for a small place like this, I would expect better service. Food came out shortly, but nothing tasted out of the ordinary or good. The friend that took us here was even disappointed saying his first time here was much better. I guess the rush of people made their food quality go down.
We ordered Steak Gorgonzola, Lamb Chop, Paprika Salmon, and Pesto Pork Chop. Nothing special, I would say it was average. Taste could be better but it’s not the worst I had.

I came here awhile ago and knew I would be back b/​c it is around the corner from my house but honestly was NOT impressed. I had a great experience this time.
It was like they finally got their junk together and things are in sync.
Last time the menu (physically) looked like crap. It had typos, wasn’t enticing to read and the items weren’t that appealing.
This time a lot of the items sounded tempting and everything we ordered was thoroughly enjoyed.
The Trio app is perfect. I love tapanade, bruschetta and hummus, the bread is toasty but soft and the presentation is cute (espresso mugs). i would recommend a coffee mug for the bruschetta though need a bigger portion of it!
I had the Mediterranean burger and it was a good.
My husband had the chipotle burger and devoured it.
The wine list looked MUCH better. I was embarrassed for them on the previous selections. This time the selections were simple, some eclectic and reasonably priced. I wish they had a Cava or sparkling wine though. They were out of Albarino though which is what me and my husband wanted so we compromised on PG.
Menu layout (again physically) looks MUCH better. Easy to read and attractive.
I am happy to say I will go back for a casual and nice dinner with the hub as well as recommend it to others. Only bad thing I can really say is their actual dish machine must be horrible b/​c they have nice sized wine glasses that glaringly show the spots leftover from the rinse. Blech! Other than that, it was a good experience!

I love the location, since it’s convenient to my house. But that doesn’t help you guys, I guess.
I want to like it, I really do. I keep trying. Hubby likes the fettucine alfredo. I like the gorgonzola burger. And that’s about it. Not that anything is bad, per se, it’s just that the menu is so limited and there’s not much on it that grabs us. The sweet potato fries are really bland and a little mushy. The wine list is hit-​or-​miss. I’ve had a pinot that was really good (doesn’t matter now that I can’t remember the name, because they never had it again).
I will say that the prices seem reasonable for the quantity, and the service has been consistently quite good, friendly and helpful. I will give it a couple more chances, just to see if they change up the menu seasonally or anything, but in general unless I’m specifically in the mood for a gorgonzola burger I probably won’t go.

If you are in a rush this is not the place to go. If you want food, made to order, fresh, and made with love it is worth the wait!!! I usually choose the garden melt which is the most amazing veggie burger I’ve ever had! Today I had the lasagna rolls which is also vegetarian dish and delicious and comes with a salad that I love! They have plenty of non vegetarian dishes as well, so the meat eaters don’t have to worry :)
The chef is very personable and really cares what goes into her food. I will soon be going for breakfast to try her French toast which i hear is fantastic!

Okay I REALLY wanted to like this place. (because it’s in the space of my fave coffee spot from days gone by) At any rate — Dropped in for a late lunch with a friend. Ordered a burger, medium. All burgers come with sweet potato fries unless you want regular fries. I was okay with sweet potato fries because WHO doesn’t love sweet potato fries right? At any rate, the server (who was slow and inattentive even though there was only one other party in the whole place) came and told me that they didn’t have sweet potato fries and asked if i wanted regular. I said NO and since they didn’t have what was SUPPOSED to come with my burger could I get a side salad or cup of soup. The server said yes but it there would be an additional charge. Wtf? you don’t have what my meal is advertised as consisting of then want to charge me for a replacement side? I was irritated at this point and said never mind, don’t bring me any sides. So when we finally do get our meal not only did it arrive with a side of regular fries, but my «medium» burger was as well done as a hockey puck.
I complained to the server who kind of slunk away and only returned to bring the check.
Oh yeah my friend had a cup of soup and salad. Neither of which was worth commenting on.
I wish my coffee spot was still there.
Update: In all fairness — the manager contacted me after I wrote this review and offered for me to come back gratis for the same items that were ordered on my unhappy visit. I have to take him up on that offer but when I do I will gladly report back.

Went here for Gema C’s birthday celebration and really liked it.
As I drove here, I was wondering if I wrote down the right address. It’s in the middle of a nowhere district. I called Gema C to check and she said if it looks like you’re in a place with not much going on, then it’s probably the right place. Yup, I was in the right place.
All of our party arrived at the same time and we were seated right away. On this rainy Saturday night, the place was pretty empty. I like that. The décor is quaint and intimate.
We were brought our water and bread and butter. The butter was a sweet butter and was delicious. It went well with the pretzel-​like bread rolls.
We each ordered different things and fairly liked it. My quinoa pilaf was a little plain but the grilled chicken tasted good.
The burger, which Gema C, shared with me was scrumptious. She’s right, when in doubt at this place, get the burger. Her advice is also to ask for «medium» for a «well-​done» burger.
The service was fantastic from my experience. Waters were refilled. Plates were whisked away. Things were prompt.

In reading everyone’s reviews, like everything read before, I Would love to say that the food was great but the service sucked.
However, my fiancé and I were unable to even taste our food BECAUSE the service sucked.
7pm: sat at our table, got served water, no menu.
705pm: fiancé had to grab our own menus
710pm: same server who didn’t hand us our menu, serves us water and bread and then asks, «have you guys decided yet?»
715: ordered caprese salad appetizer, the gorgonzola steak (medium rare) and a gorgonzola burger (medium) (which btw should both take about 10 – 15 min
730: noticed those who came in after us have received their food; received our caprese appetizer.
745: asked for the manager, who turns out to be the chef, who Is also THE ONLY one cooking! (since their food station is visible)
750: turns out our waiter served our food to people who came in after us who ordered the same food.
tried to give us a discount on our food that was almost ready, we said no and that well pay for our drinks. $ 10.43, gave them $ 11 and walked the f*** outta there!
DO NOT EAT HERE. EVER.
I would give zero stars if I could.

another place I wish I could give a 3.5* to. GREAT caprese salad, nice warm bread (although I miss the bread from trattoria limone), very friendly service, even with kids. They even have a kids menu, which I appreciate in a bistro. The manager even came over and welcomed us. Still, the scampi had so much garlic my husband was actually sick for a whole day later. Nice local place for date night with a glass of wine and some good art, just avoid the scampi if you are sensitive to huge amounts of garlic.

OK so maybe I should have read the Unilocal reviews before going to this place, but I had several friends recommend it so I went without checking it out. I have to say they do have several kinks that still need to be worked out.
–Wine list, only had ten wines??? what exactly are we sipping and everything was expensive, except that the wines themselves were not expensive bottles… ok I’ll give them a pass on this, their rent is probably thru the roof.
–Menu and hours were not accurate, but the chef told us they were in the processing of changing, ok another pass given
–All meats come smothered in sauce, a sign that they use poor quality meat (in my mind and stomach on this occasion)
–Floors and kitchen appeared to be dirty, they could go for a good scrub down, especially since they seat guests at the kitchen…
On to the food: I had the strawberry fields salad which was good, I will definitely go back for that, the steak couscous, ok so maybe I should have known better, meat was ok, but totally undetectable under the thick layer of sauce, which was not that good and the couscous, well I’d pass on that.
The kicker was that both my boyfriend and I had stomach aches after eating here. So sad :(The only reason I gave it 3 stars was because they had a nice guy playing keyboard and the service was good for us. I hope they clean up their act soon, I love little hide away restaurants like this.

Wow, I rarely give 5 stars but this spot really deserves it! The atmosphere, the local products they use to cook with, the friendly service, and the good energy really make the place worth the 5 stars.
I now know where half the attractive men in long beach work, score! Haha
Honestly though, I went New years eve with my mama and we totally indulged. Spinach salad and tomato bisque to start, endless warm delicious bread, then a light shrimp pasta with garlic and some butter for me, while my mom enjoyed the salmon, green bean and scallop potato plate, and a glass of wine. Just talking about the place makes my mouth water!
Right across from Hole Mole, Sipology is kind of in a funny location but the food is no joke! Check it out.

Red is a nice, neighborhood-​casual restaurant. The salads are well prepared, fresh and nicely dressed. The entrees are, for the most part, tasty and well-​presented. I like the lamb pasta — the lamb is nicely cooked and the pasta (while a heavier style it’s is intended to be and done right) has roasted garlic cloves throughout that are just great.
The wines are decent as is the beer selection. Though I believe they removed their German beer options which I rather liked. Wish they’d bring them back.
Well worth trying. Also, the owner is very attentive to your experience and works hard to make things right if things don’t go as well as you hoped. This alone almost makes it five stars in my book.

Red has a nice Calif. casual atmosphere perfect for the neighborhood. The dinner menu consists of gourmet burgers, some pasta dishes, and traditional dinner plates with a Sipology twist.
My wife and I checked out this place for Date Night. She ordered the coffee crusted pork chop and I ordered the pepper crusted steak. Both were cooked perfectly. The steak, to my specification, and the pork chop was delicious and moist (Yes, I ate my steak and some of her chop too). The sides consisted of yummy veggies and tasty mashed-​potatoes. We definitely want to go back and try some of the other items on the menu (steak gorgonzola, sweet potato fries, etc.).
Some things that kept me from giving Red 5 stars:
–Once we placed our order, the food came out quickly… but service from the waiter was slow.
–I ordered an Americano after dinner and was brought a shot of espresso (not thrilling since the restaurant is an offshoot business of the local coffeehouse)
Like I said, we enjoyed the meal and will go back again. Can’t wait for the second location to open up within walking distance from our place on Broadway!

I went for lunch with my sister after flying in from San Francisco. She told me that they had great daily lunch specials. We both got the tuna burger. The regular burger was on special for $ 5 and the tuna burger was on special for $ 8. Both came with sweet potato fries. Specials require the purchase of a drink, which was fine. I got a tea because I was nursing a cold.
The service was attentive and friendly. The burger was fresh and good. I would have liked the tuna to be more rare in the middle, but that was fine. I didn’t specify when I ordered. The sweet potato fries were delicious like all sweet potato fries are. I would definitely go back, especially at such a good price.
It sounds like they are still experimenting with specials, hours, and menus. From what I could tell from the conversation with the waiter, they seem to have changed some of the daily lunch specials and added happy hour drink specials. I recall the waiter saying that the best deal was getting a large Belgian beer for only $ 5. They also seem to have extended their hours. We showed up at 2pm, the lunch closing time as indicated on Unilocal,and we were seated without a problem.

I live practically right down the street from this place, so when I heard the same folks from the Sipology coffee shop were opening a restaurant, I became quite curious to try it out.
Since I’m quickly becoming of fan of the Unilocal community, it only made sense that I would look at the reviews from my fellow Unilocalers to see what others are chiming about. The gorgonzola burger was on mind as to what I should try out. However at the last minute I changed my mind and selected their featured item for the evening: BBQ Pork Chop, mac n cheese, coleslaw, and corn on the cob dish. My husband had the Grilled Salmon and both dishes were very good. The Salmon and Pork Chop were cooked just right, plus it was evident they were using fresh items. Nice job, chef!
I’ve read some of the reviews and it appears the primary complaint is bad service, however that was not our experience. We had a table for 8 and the waiter, Don, was attentive, friendly, and I always had water in my glass. That’s a big plus.
Would I go back? Definitely! I’m all about supporting our local restaurants and I would love to go back for the lunch hour and try out the burgers everyone is talking about. Stay tuned for the next report!

Two to three stars for the food. Really bad service drags it down to one star.
Three of us went on a Friday night. I ordered the pesto pork chop. one friend ordered the tomato beef couscous and another ordered the all-​American burger.
The waiter did not take the menus, which I suspect led to much of the confusion. We chatted and waited for our food. For a long time.
Then our waiter came to our table and asked to take our order. We said we had already given it to him, but he said he was told by the people in the back to come out and take our order. I think it’s because the menus were sitting there on the table and we were waiting so long.
The waiter walked away and came back and insisted that our order had been submitted. So we waited. And waited.
Finally, the tomato beef couscous came and they set it in front of one of my friends. He didn’t want to eat until we got our food, so he waited. And waited. My pork chop came out next. But there was a problem. The menu described it as two pork chops, not one. I got one big pork chop, so I’m sure by volume it was the same., But it didn’t seem right. Also, the pork chop was blackened and suffocated with balsamic vinegar. Look at my photo on Unilocal.The waiter insisted this was their pesto pork chop. Finally, about 10 minutes or more after the tomato beef couscous arrived, the burger arrived. My friend asked for it cooked medium. It was well done. Plus the bun had obviously been burned. My friend tried the beef and said it was inedible.
We summoned the waiter. We gave him an earful. He insisted that he had put the order in after taking it originally and that it was just busy that night. It was exceptionally long between the time we ordered and when we were served.
The waiter came back and said they were giving us the food for free. I was the only one to eat anything. The pork chop was okay, but not especially well prepared. It was a little tough. And it was supposed to be a pesto pork chop. There may have been some pesto in there. I’m not sure. It was overwhelmed by searing from being blackened and by the balsamic vinegar. If there was any pesto it was buried under the other flavors. We brought a 1983 Verset Cornas to drink but that much vinegar will just ruin the wine. I hope this one star is motivation for them to get their menus accurate.
The broccoli that came with my dish was badly overcooked. The mashed potatoes were pretty nice.
Although they offered us the meal for free, since I ate the pork chop and potatoes and we used their glasses for wine I left $ 20. But they’ve lost our business.

I read the reviews of other patrons and thought they were a little harsh. Just dined at this restaurant tonight. The food was good. I had Spinach Fields Salad and Veggies and Couscous. They were both wonderfully tasteful. I could do without the walnuts on the Spinach salad, but I typically don’t like nuts on my salad. My friend had the Angel hair pasta and Shrimp which were pretty large. She said it was well prepared and tasty. Still not enough to keep her from this place. The wine was our only real issue. The wine was just okay. Everyone cannot pick out a good wine. I suggest going to Trader Joe’s or Cost Plus World Market for an inexpensive good wine selection. Note: the wine wasn’t horrible, but needed improvement.
The service was good. The hostess and waitress were attentive and prompt with service. She cleared the tables and brought hot food in a timely manner. Several visits from the owners also enhanced the customer service. Everyone made sure we were taken care of.
The artwork and music was our favorite! Nice ambiance, cool music, and beautiful artwork surrounding us. It was so relaxing and with the right company, a really nice atmosphere for evening dinner.
This is a cool, local neighborhood spot. I didn’t expect large crowds or an extensive menu. What I expected was good service, homely atmosphere and good food. Sipology Red delivered!
