Friendly service and good pizza ! Came on lunch and got the appetizer combo which came with groovy twists(there cheesey Brad stick) hot wings and seasoned potatoes wedges for 10.99 not a bad deal to split came with 4 groovy twists 6 wings and a handful of wedges. Also got a individual pizza. I love there sauce and they don’t skimp on the toppings. The owner is great she’s always super friendly and in a good spirit over all great place to come if you don’t mind the daily baseball parties and kids running around with there winning tickets from the arcade

This place while not terrible is really not good. The pizza is lacking on cheese and sauce and there is an air bubble between the crust and the top layer of the pizza. The service was ok but the staff wasn’t what I would call friendly. Also I’m not sure if they were short staffed but when I came in I wanted to sit in a booth but none of the tables had been cleared off by the time I left there were 6 tables that hadn’t been bused yet.

People were very friendly and the food was decent, not the best but decent. I arrived with my family to watch the 49ers and steelers game. They had it on in the back room where I guess«people watch football.» The room and seating was great BUT the 3 flat screens that they had couldn’t be any bigger than 32 inches and the tvs were very high up making it hard to see anything. Sadly I didn’t bring my glasses so I was screwed. For being a place that promotes sporting events they need to upgrade their televisions. Also maybe do some thing with their tattered menu. I opened it and the first page fell off.

Straw Hat used to have very good pizza. I have been on a low carb diet for over a year and decided I wanted a good piece of pizza tonight. I ordered a large pizza and paid almost $ 30. I wish I’d gone to Little Caesars and got one for $ 5! I have never had«bad» pizza. I didn’t think It was possible. The crust was chewy and tough, there was hardly any sauce and small bits of toppings. There was not much cheese on it either and really just had NO flavor! I actually called and complained, which I have NEVER done. While I appreciate the managers offer to send out a new pizza, the new one wasn’t much better. The crust was better and it was hotter, but that’s about all I can say for it. Done with Straw Hat. They’ve gone the way of all other pizza chains: less than fresh ingredients, smaller portions of toppings, and less cheese. I’ll order a pizza from Marris or Eccos next time.

If you are looking for a late night snack, beware that this place sometimes closes early without notice when it is a slow night. Recently I was at the restaurant and they were closing up an hour early, even though I still had food and alcohol on the table. When I left the restaurant there were people on their way in, but I had to inform them that the restaurant was closing up shop for the night. The pizza itself is good, and the staff is very friendly. It is a bit of a pain that you have to order alcohol at the cash register, then go to a separate area to present your receipt to have the alcohol poured for you, but I guess that’s because people under 21 are on the staff and can’t pour it. Despite being nice, the staff is a bit slow to take orders. The restaurant has a very large room good for big groups — it can probably fit 50 or more people in that large room. But again beware that they might shut down your party if the restaurant’s business is slow!

Drove from OC to try some good old straw hat pizza, what a waste of time. Salad bar was a little brown, pizza sauce is a little different tasting to me and the yellow cheese on it threw me. They also forgot to put the first two items that we ordered as toppings. No wonder the place was empty. Save time buy DiGorno!

Unbelievable. It’s been over twenty five years since Iv’e been to a Straw Hat. We used to have one in Orange on Chapman where I grew up and I remember I used to go there for Hot Hat’s. It’s a super thin calzone with a thin crispy shell stuffed with Italian sausage, peppers and cheese. They were only $ 4 back then. Now you pay $ 6.50, which is still a bargain comparatively speaking. In any case, this location, while a bit smaller, is still a family restaurant. I ordered a Hot Hat and it’s pretty much exactly as I remember it. It sure brought back some memories. The staff was also super friendly as well. You can’t this anywhere else, so it is a unique item. I sure hope the next one I have is a little sooner.

DONOTCOMEHEREATANYCOST! WORSTLOCATIONEVER! I never never never write bad reviews but if I could give a place a NEGATIVE10 stars for lack of customer service… I would. Spoke with the OWNER herself and she was nothing but rude. Our family went to pick up our already ready pizza and we had a BOGO coupon(mind you we had an identical coupon we used 2 weeks prior and they honored, no problem) and the owner proceeded to argue with me that they wouldn’t honor our coupon simply because we weren’t eating the pizza at the location. When I mentioned that the coupon DIDNOT say we had to eat at the location she replied«it says we can do whatever we want» so I then went on to ask her, «so you’re saying that the only way you’ll honor this coupon is if we literally sit here for 5 minutes and then we can ask for a to-go box?» She replied, «are you really going to do that?» But really lady? Are you really going to make us do that? FORGETITLADY… we’ll take our money and our business elsewhere… besides the VILLAGEROAD Pizzeria on Norse Way off Carson is a million times better… and they definitely know the RIGHT way to treat their customers!

Let me start by saying I would give this place 4 stars if it was solely based on the quality of the pizza & toppings. I have now tried this place twice. One time was an in store pick-up and the 2nd was delivery. The first time they forgot my favorite topping. I figured mistakes happen and didn’t worry about it too much. The 2nd time I ordered online so that it would be in writing and hard to make mistakes. I set it for a future order a few hours out. First off, they delivered it way too early so by the time we were ready to eat it, the pizza was cold. They forgot my favorite topping — again! I called to get some sort of resolution & there was none. They offered to drop off the topping separately at my house? Not helpful. They were not even able to give me my $$ for the topping. Maybe it would be good if you eat there so you can send your pizza right back when the order is wrong?

This place is nothing special. My friend took me here for their pizza and salad bar lunch special. It was an okay deal for what you are getting. I don’t know why some restaurants insist on putting carpet in because what happens is it leaves the restaurant smelling old and musty. It made me a bit nauseous to eat there.(I know, harsh. but come on!) I like the personal sized pizza but not the salad bar because the salad ingredients could have been a lot more fresh. I don’t think I would waste my pizza calories and money on place like this again.

3.5 stars, but rounding up to 4 because of the nostalgia factor.
My stars:(5=epic«best of»)(4=really tasty and want to go again and again)(3=good and will go back once in a while)(2=fair, might return for a visit if there was some glimmer of hope)(1=avoid at all costs) Go or No? Go Tease: Straw Hat Pizza was the gold standard of pizza parlors in the 70’s…and the one we checked out matched my highest expectation. Why I went: I did not realize my childhood pizzeria was still in existence(in a different city mind you), and I wanted to re-live the experience. When: 7÷19÷14 Food: My wife and I split a small sausage and red onion pizza. It had a really nice thin crispy crust, good rich sauce, a nice layer of cheese that wasn’t too much or too little and a fair amount of toppings given the size of the pie. The place I’d most compare it to is Round Table. It was a tasty pizza. Really, better than we were expecting fearing(like many things in life) our memories were better than the reality. But it was a win. We’d gladly go again. Service: Very nice. Hints/Final thoughts: We went looking for nostalgia and got it! The place is a bit of a blast form the past. There is a room for ball teams to celebrate and there’s an arcade section. They had a good selection of tap beers including Firestone on one end and PBR on the other. They have other items like salads, calzone, sandwiches and other snacks. We can only attest to the pizza, and it was a tasty thin crust pie.

I Love Straw Hat,… It has been My Favorite Pizza since I was a little kid growing up in LB, and Almost every Tuesday I try and order a Large Pepperoni. I live in Huntington Beach now but in my opinion it’s Worth the Drive! I read another peoples Reviews regarding the 50% Off on Tuesdays that was negative and I can tell U I have Never had a bad Pizza from Straw Hat! Some people would Complain if they were Hung with a New Rope! I would Highly recommend Straw Hat to Everyone :)

This is my hubby’s favorite pizza spot. Apparently the original Straw Hat Pizza is located in Riverside, which is where my hubby grew up. Well, after all these years — he’s still a loyal fan, and I’ve become a fan too! There’s definitely a «Mom and Pop» kinda feel to Straw Hat. It’s a small business chain, and seems to have been around for a little while. The décor and furniture in the restaurant are likely the original, but I think that’s what my hubby and I like about it. It’s classic. The pizza is great! The crust is thin(not too thin), and they are pretty generous with their cheese and toppings. And their beer? You can get a big olé’ 32 ounce for only 6 bucks! Pizza and beer is always a great combo :) Prices are reasonable, considering the quality of food you’ll receive. Check it out if you get the chance, and you’ll see what I mean. Enjoy!

This Straw Hat is as good as it gets. Reminds me of the pizza places when I was a kid. Great service, friendly employees and fantastic pizza. I just love their pizza. I am a sucker for that thin crust. They have a nice game room for the kids and plenty of tv’s to catch the game. If you want to throw a party they have a nice size team room that we used for our group. If you want some great pizza, cold adult beverages with great service you need to try this Straw Hat. Enjoy, Don
