We have made several purchase here. Yes, they are expensive– they are also wonderful. These guys are staples of the vintage business in California.

Can you say more high end vintage furniture then you have ever laid eyes on in one store? Sure you can. Rebecca’s 5 Point Rating Scale(1-not-so-great and 5-fabulous): Store Size /Inventory — 5(Decent size store with an excellent variety of inventory, really focused on furniture for the most part.) Merchandise Quality — 5(High end, high quality and sometimes rare furniture.) Organization — 4(Look around closely while shopping. It was only after I went back and examined my pictures that I did indeed realize what prizes were sitting tucked in all the nooks and crannies.) Pricing — 2 – 3(Pretty darn high.) Service — 3(There was staff and I assume they were nice people. But, not to be painful, I took a lot of pictures inside the store. You would think someone would say, «Um, what are you doing?») Total Rating is 4(out of 5 stars) Xcape also has a good quantity of high quality glass and pottery. Very nice pieces. What I really loved was the extensive collection of metal brutalist wall hangings. You just don’t see this many, grouped together in one place. I was very impressed with Xcape’s furniture selection. I was in such a hurry on my accidental 4th Street adventure that I didn’t appreciate what I was looking at. I had no idea that retro was so accessible just 25 short miles North of me. I’ll be back. If you want to pay for their rent on 4th, go for it. But a real warning here: the pieces you find there can be found for less on e-bay, craigslist, garage sales, etc. Normally I would just say, «Suck it up. They have a gorgeous selection all under one roof,» but their prices on pottery – pottery you can easily and readily find on e-bay – compels me to warn all of you to look before you leap. It’s called«Metlox.» Look it up. Aztec pattern, I think. Don’t overpay for this stuff!

Amazing selection of mid-century furnishing and décor. My only complaint is that they are a little on the pricey side. I am one who gets excited on a good deal… Like a kid in candy store I become when I get something amazing at a great cost. I mean I know that we are in a recession and business need to survive so I understand the pricing. But. When I can go to a flea market, thrift shop, estate sale or EBay then I would much rather do that. But, whatever. It’s still fun to come in and browse. Perhaps find a steal. Perhaps…

Incredible merchandise in this store — and knowledgable owners/sales people. At first blush, it’s true that the prices are fairly steep — some of the more common items(Laurel lamps and Heywood nightstands) you might find elsewhere for less. However, it’s always worth asking if they can work with you on the price — the owners are smart and reasonable. They have far more in the store than what you see on your website, and they always seem to be putting something new out on the floor so it pays to check in periodically. They have some really high end, uncommon and gorgeous pieces, and they do a really nice job refinishing and reupholstering. Definitely a must-go when you’re ready for heirloom quality forever-furniture.
