Pink Canary Desserts

Stumbled upon this place looking for a cake for a colleague’s birthday. Met Amy, the manager. She was wonderful and very friendly. At the time, I was planning a baby shower and didn’t know what I was going to do about a cake. So I decided to order it from Pink Canary. I spoke with Amy, gave her a copy of the baby shower invitation and asked her to copy the colors and design scheme. They did an absolutely wonderful job. The cake was NOT dry and the icing was NOT too sugary or rich. I’m very glad I found this place. I have already recommended it to several colleagues.

Amy, I cannot give you enough thanks for your accommodations today. I hope everyone knows that in the blizzard of 2016, you not only provided me with a cake for my moms 60^th birthday, but you also called to make sure I got it before you had to close. I was not able to have the party she flew up from Florida to have because the trains stopped, but I plan on meeting her in the morning and having cake for breakfast. THANK YOU!!!

Just moved to LIC and discovered this bakery while researching cakes for my daughter’s first birthday. The owner, Amy, did a wonderful job of communicating cake design ideas via email and photos. The cake turned out fantastic, and guests marveled on the design and taste (highly recommend the red velvet!). The decorated cookies were super cute and lovely treats that complimented the cake. The prices were quite reasonable given the work and quality. Glad to discover this hidden gem in our new neighborhood. Will definitely use again… today!

Beautiful and delicious treats. Too often, when you get beautiful cookies, they’re a novelty creation that don’t taste that good. But the cookies here are cute and clever and ALSO really tasty. I love the cake pops too. The full-​size cakes are incredibly inventive, with a variety of flavors available.
I came here for a gingerbread house workshop. After trying some gingerbread cookies, tea, and other delightful treats, we were provided the gingerbread pieces and all the candy, icing, and tools needed to construct a house and decorate it. Amy gave us direction and help, where needed, but then allowed us and the other workshop attendees to follow our own inspiration. When we were done, she helped us pack up the house so we could bring it home safely.
I think some of the older reviews here were written when the place was under different management. With the current team, the attention to flavor, service and detail are flawless.
Whenever I need cookies or cakes for a special event, I get them here!

I’ve walked by this Bakery numerous times and never walked inside. The women who run the shop are incredibly helpful and artistic (see cake). I ordered a Vanilla cake with vanilla frosting with two black cats. The cats were incredibly cute and the cake was moist and delicious.
There were a group of Japanese women eating cupcakes and drinking espresso. They looked happy. If you want to have a birthday party there is a setup for this as well. The shop has great sweets, café style coffee, and lots of other yummy items.

Great and helpful staff, called to order a dozen mini cupcakes, half gluten free specialty ones too, and they had my order ready the same day (about 5 hours later) cupcakes are a little pricey ($ 18 for the dozen mini cupcakes, half gluten free, two smores, two red velvet, two with rainbow sprinkles) But worth it, my friends loved them! Would recommend.

We celebrated a birthday party for 10 children at this location over the weekend. Amy the party coordinator was helpful from the start and was in communication with us finalizing details prior to the event. The cupcake and birthday cake were delicious, the kids and parents raved about the flavors, everyone took extra home. Overall we were happy with the activities planned, and the children enjoyed themselves emensely. Amy followed through with creating a fun Inside Out themed party.

I pop into Pink Canary frequently for an iced coffee (or an affogato) and a treat, but last week is the first time I placed an order. My colleague and I ordered about 3 dozen pencil shaped sugar cookies as a back to school gift for the teachers in our building who we coach. The cookie were perfect. The attention to detail on the decorating was amazing, and the cookies themselves were delicious. They were packaged well (they even offered to individually wrap them for me) and held up fine on two subway rides. I will definitely be doing a special order with them again.

I stopped into this cute cupcake shop on my way home from brunch this past Sunday and of course the décor of this place is adorable. Pink galore, with a cute store front and pink party room towards the back. I needed some cupcakes for a thank you gift and picked out some full size ½ dozen delicious looking flavors from their awesome cupcake display, as well as a half dozen of mini’s for my boyfriend and I. They have a great variety of flavors in both regular sized cupcakes and mini’s. Before checking out, I saw the girl struggle to put the cupcakebox in the bag (she didn’t use the counter to properly place the box at the bottom of the large paper bag, she «freehanded» it if you will…) and it never dawned on me that they were then ruined until I got home. Every single cupcake was mushed and shifted to one side of the box. Problem here is that even if she placed the box in properly, the cardboard caddy used inside their boxes are not the exact size of (or supportive enough around) their cupcakes. That’s a huge flaw in the cupcake world ! After all people are on the move ! and I know plenty of bakeries who understand how important cupcake packaging is.
This was a gift, I was so disappointed because there was no saving them to be presentable enough as a gift.

I discovered this cute little bakery on my way to the Gantry State park. Decked up in pink, this place has a small variety of cupcakes, mini cupcakes, cookies, coffees n cake pops. Anyhow, I tried their mini M&M cupcake n got a chocolate cake pop free (It was their first b’day!). The chocolate ganache on the cupcake was heavenly but the cake was a bit dry. But I wud love to try their other flavors!

I really wanted to like this place because of how cute it was! Popped in here to get a couple of small desserts and a cupcake for a colleague. While I’m not sure how his cupcake turned out, I can comment on the cake pops. First off — the price tag was a tad steep at $ 2.50 for a cake pop, but hey, they were cute little chicks (which I am assuming were made in preparation for Easter). As visually appealing as these cake pops were, the taste simply did not live up to the price.
The cake itself had a strange flavor (I cant quite put my finger on it). I got one chocolate and one vanilla. We tried the chocolate first which was alright but the frosting simply had an odd flavor and consistency. The vanilla was marginally better (note, I say «marginally») but again, nothing to write home about. While I’d say the flavor was around 2.5 stars, the price tag (and the fact that I was told the price after the treats had already been bagged up) definitely brought down my rating.
It’s a real shame because they were incredibly cute cake pops but the ones at Starbucks (yes, Starbucks) taste infinitely better.
At that price point, I’m not sure I want to give this place a second shot, particularly being so close to Manhattan.

Interesting place where they make the cupcakes made to order. Can’t wait to bite into the mini cupcakes later.

This is a cute place! I’ve only had two of the cupcake flavors but they were both very good. Friendly service, too. I would definitely recommend trying it out.

Pricey for a small cupcake (~3). I had the wedding cake cupcake. Pretty good. There seemed to only be about 6 cupcakes left at 6 pm on a Tuesday. Not sure if they sold out or because they don’t have so many…
It’s a cute place to Pop in and out for a quick dessert (they offer cookies as well) and coffee but i feel as if they cater more to events/​custom orders than a store front selling single items. Friendly people, but not memorable.

We had a great experience this past weekend with two custom birthday cakes, pictured (the insect/​garden and space/​rocket cake). We gave a theme and sent a few idea pics and they took it from there and created two beauties that completely wowed the birthday guy and gal. They were delicious too — really nice fondant, awesome not-​too-​sweet filling cream (strawberries and cream in one and cookies n cream in the other), and great moist vanilla cake. Nice cupcakes too. We will definitely be back.

This place just opened two months ago and it really cute. My husband surprised me with an assortment of mini cupcakes that hit the spot. I may order a cake from here for the next baby shower I attend.

We ordered a cake one week in advance and they promised us it would be ready the day of our baby’s birthday party. The baker called and said that our cake was due the day after the party which was clearly a communication screw up. Even on the receipt, it showed the date of the party. I knew we shouldn’t have trusted the counter girls. They seemed incompetent and I was right. Now, our daughter has no cake for her birthday. There is no excuse for this, new baker or not. Funny thing is that I recommended a few people here. Not any more. LIC continues to have inferior places. 0 stars.

Here’s a quote from my coworker (I just bought her a cupcake): «This is literally like the best cupcake I’ve ever had since I’ve been alive.» I agree! The cookies you get from the jar by the register are my favorite — heavenly, fresh chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin. I haven’t had the ice cream yet, but it looks wonderful, too. I’m so happy this neighborhood has a good bakery! They also do beautiful cakes, and there’s a party room for the kids. The décor is sweet, pretty and everything is über-​clean. Welcome to LIC, Pink Canary!

Ran over to Pink Canary since I’ve been dying to try their cupcakes. I was in a rush because a huge storm was moving into the area.
I waited to be helped because the girl at the counter was talking to someone about setting up a birthday party there.
When it was finally my turn I had to ask what flavor cupcakes they had. There was no menu listing the flavors of the day. The girl didn’t seem extremely knowledgable about what they had but the place is new so I’ll give her a break.
I ordered 4 cupcakes, red velvet, rainbow cookie, vanilla and chocolate.
She goes in the back and comes back with only 2 both with vanilla frosting. I guess she forgot about the others? And didn’t hear that I wanted chocolate?
It already took so long to get the cupcakes and she seemed harried so I didn’t say anything. I just wanted to get out of there before the storm (didn’t happen by the way, it starting pouring as soon as I left).
Anyway! I tried the cupcakes as soon as I got home with my expectations pretty low. They looked kind of bad. And they tasted bad too!
The vanilla cake tasted like it came from a box. The chocolate cake had no flavor and tasted like it came from a supermarket bakery. The vanilla frosting was waxy and completely artificial tasting.
Also they were $ 3 each.
Since Pink Canary just opened I would still try it again. Maybe they need to work out some kinks such as: having a daily flavor listing with descriptions and not going into the back to put the frosting on every time someone orders. These aren’t cannolis, they don’t need to be made on the spot. It takes too much time and the frosting looked crappy and sloppy. Also, obviously, make a better tasting, higher quality cupcake.

Yay, mini-​cupcakes in LIC! I stopped by Pink Canary’s grand opening this morning for an iced coffee and a strawberry cheesecake mini-​cupcake. It’s the breakfast of first-​to-​review champions. :-) YUM!
Pink Canary has a cute little storefront with a counter featuring sweets and coffee on one side, and a pink bench and three little tables on the other side. In the back, there’s a party room with pretty cupcake decals on the wall, which would be perfect for a baby shower or little one’s birthday party. Oh, and they sell a few little toys, like a cupcake set, so if you’re running late to a 3-​year-​old birthday party in LIC (and who isn’t) you could consider stopping by for a last-​minute gift.
Pink Canary is open from 7am — 8pm weekdays, 9am — 7pm weekends; desserts by NY Cupcakery; ownership same as Shi and Skinny’s Cantina on Center Blvd.
