Still the best sushi place in the area. I come in so much that they recognize me! They added some Chinese to the menu, and naturally, it’s delicious. I hope they add an entire Chinese menu, now that Hu Ke Lau has closed.

I come here often for lunch. Place look upscale, with a modern decoration and leather sofas in some of the tables. I’m always immediately greeted when I arrive, staff is friendly and efficient. Most of the time I try the sushi bar. The owner is most of the time preparing sushi himself, which makes a big difference in the quality and service. He thanks every one arriving and leaving with sincerity. In my opinion, this place has the best sushi in the area. I usually try the sushi lunch but the owner always slide a few freebies on the side which is a plus. Special mention to the chicken dumpling soup, a most try.

One of my favorite sushi places. I truly wish I could give it five stars but they really could work on their wait staff being a bit more accommodating. I always feel rushed with the wait staff because they are quick to bring out the check once you have finished eating your food. They typically provide a complimentary ice cream dessert and bring a check without really checking if you are interested in dessert. But the food is so good that I can handle the crappy service. Its not a deal breaker.

Went here for lunch about a week or two ago with my boyfriend and had a great time. The food was great, and their coffee is surprisingly very, very good. which i loved. all of our food was fantastic. they even brought out a complimentary sushi platter which my boyfriend said was amazing(i don’t eat seafood.) and when they brought the check they brought it with two little bowls of ice cream. its little things like that that show they care about customer satisfaction. We came here for a quick lunch, and left wanting to come back again and again. I would absolutely recommend this place.

I must say this was a wonderful first time experience dining at UME Asian Bistro. I had an inkling when I first tasted the Seafood Miso Soup this was going to be an above the ordinary culinary adventure. The Soup was a slightly rich flavored Miso broth, not overly fishy with a blend of clams, shrimp, scallops, vegetables and fish cake flavors. I thought this miso version was one of the best I have had to date. When the combination Sushi plate arrived you couldn’t help but be awed by the highly skilled plate presentation artwork, it was extremely impressive and was a beautiful photo opportunity to share with fellow Unilocalers and Sushi lovers alike. I found the fish to be very fresh and everything else more than I could have hoped for. The waitress brought a complimentary deep fried Spicy Fuji Roll with Eel Sauce which was exceptionally tasty, I could have gotten permanently side tracked and lost in that tasty bad boy!!! Once again, the waitress brought complimentary ice cream to finish off one of the most delightful local Sushi dining experiences I have had. The service and food quality was exceptional and the artistic plate presentation is something you will have to experience on your own in order to fully appreciate.

Delicious food no matter what you order! This restaurant is currently my favorite place to eat! I love all their sushi dishes, especially the Sushi Love Boat. All the sushi is very fresh and well made. Their other entrees such as noodle and meat dishes are also very good! They serve a complimentary sushi dish and ice cream for desert on occasion as well, which is a very nice touch.

The sushi is delicious! I also enjoy the sake selection. The ambiance is also a perk. Some of their seating includes giant comfy leather couches. I’ve never sat at the bar but it looks huge and inviting. Fun for a night out or to grab a quick lunch.

If you live in the area, Ume is definitely worth trying. I have been numerous times and always have a similar experience. The ambience is its main attraction; beautifully designed. As for the sushi, it is not always fresh and the service could use improvement. That being said, I still make my way back in every once and a while. Overall, the atmosphere of this place is worth experiencing. Try it!

Good, trendy sushi joint with great atmosphere. The sushi here was excellent every time. When I ate at the tables(vice the bar) they were kind enough to give me a free appetizer roll to start out. the seating area has these great comfy couches. The bartender is pretty heavy handed with the drinks, which I think is a good thing, though others may not. not a great selection of beer, but a good steady drink menu. Good place to go for a date or a quiet night out, I wouldn’t recommend bringing the kids.

The lunch specials are the best value here as the menu is pretty expensive. Lunch specials valid mon-sat no sunday. The service was average or a little lax for being one of two tables. The sushi is fresh and delicious but the veg tempura was a bit thick on the coating.

Beautiful design and wonderful decorations. Sushi is not any different from your usually Japanese sushi house. Their tables are awesome. So comfortable! The staff is awesome they even gave us a free roll to try on the house. It’s a good place to go for all occasions.

Dined here with some co-workers on a business trip and everyone really seemed to like it! The PROS –good service that was prompt and friendly –sushi tasted fresh –all the eel rolls I had were super good –seaweed salad tasted great –gave us a roll on the house plus ice cream –easy to find parking in lot –clean and nice atmosphere –calamari was good –everything I tried from other’s people’s plates was good The CONS –none that I can think of! I really enjoyed this sushi restaurant and would return again!

Disclaimer: I didn’t actually have any raw fish here so if you’re looking for a review on whether the fish was fresh or made me violently ill, you need to look elsewhere. First off, this place gave my table a free appetizer(probably because it was my friend’s birthday). Already a fan — I love free. I had two non-raw fish rolls and they were pretty good! They held together and didn’t fall apart when I picked them up. The ingredients seemed fresh and it was delicious. At the end of the meal, we got a scoop of strawberry ice cream for free. Again, I love free. Other than the free-ness during the meal, I actually thought the food was pretty good. This place is a pan-Asian cuisine place so they serve Chinese, Japanese and even a little Thai food. I can’t call any of it «authentic,» but it was pretty good Americanized Asian food.

Bottom line on top: I love the atmosphere, friendly service, sushi is very good, other food is just OK UPDATE3÷9÷2014: I finally went back and tried the sushi. It’s much better than the other food. If you stick with sushi, it’s def. 4 stars. Updating by one star based on sushi, service and atmosphere. As many others have noted, the atmosphere is a nice change from most of the other restaurants in the area. There are several tables where the benches are couches, complete with pillows. The service has been great when I’ve gone — friendly and attentive. The food is OK. It’s not bad, and it’s not great. There are some interesting and different choices(like the peanut avocado roll which has whole honey roasted peanuts in with the avocado). I haven’t had anything stunning yet. But, it’s not too expensive either… Nice place for a date night.

Having grown up going to Friendlys, it is quite amazing to find the space do a complete 180 in terms of type of food, quality of service, and ambiance! The interior feels more like a trendy lounge than a sushi place, with dim lighting, and some seating area you even have couches instead of chairs! There are alot of flatscreen tvs around though, for those who want to peak at a game being aired. In terms of food, the pricing was a bit higher than you’d expect for an Asian restaurant in Longmeadow, but definitely is vastly superior in quality and presentation than their rivals in the area. The«Surf and Turf» was done with an Asian twist, with ginger scallion cooked lobster and the beef was more like a thinly sliced pot roast type style, which was flavorful and tender, but a bit small in serving size. We also got the«Love boat», which says it serves 2, but definitely is a HUGE quantity where it includes 3 specialty rolls, around 15 pcs of sashimi, and I think around 8 pcs of nigiri… I’m pretty certain this could have fed 3 – 4 of us easy. Service was adequate, though it was hard to know who was our actual server, the manager brought out the food, and different people would check in on us.
