History

Established in 1995.

Auto Tec has been in business for 17 years. Auto Tec was previously owned by Patrick Taylor, a well-​known member of the Loomis community. As of January 1st 2011, Jason King filled in Pat’s shoes as owner of Auto Tec. Pat built Auto Tec’s reputation to what it is today. If you ask any one of our customers they will say Auto Tec is one of the most honest and trustworthy repair facilities around, and Jason has done a wonderful job upholding these standards and he plans on keeping these standards for years to come.

Jason is a hardworking man, anyone who has met Jason can say that he is a very honest mechanic, which is hard to find now days. Between himself and Auto Tec’s lead technician Michael, they have 50 years of automotive experience under their belt. Jason and Michael both are ASE certified mechanics. Jason has been at Auto Tec since 1997 until January of 2011 when he took over ownership of Auto Tec.

Jesse was amazing, fit me in when I had trouble with my 2007 Subaru. The car was making some loud noises and vibrating, was getting worse. Took it to a dealer just a month before and they checked it out and it was «fine.» Then it got worse. Jesse is an expert in working on Subaru’s and found the problem right away and fixed it at a very reasonable price.
He went over my past service records first to see what had been done on the car. I had another service shop charge me for a «very dirty» transmission fluid change where that service person said it had to be done twice as it was so dirty and had never been cleaned. I had told that other service guy I had it cleaned before at a dealer. Jesse caught this immediately in my records and stated Subaru transmission fluid is just much darker than most.
I live in Truckee and come all the way down to have Jesse work on my car. As a woman, I worry I am getting cheated by other mechanics. Jesse is honest and straight forward. He explained everything to me, showed me the defective parts and the finished work. Very professional. I won’t go anywhere else to get my car serviced.

For a place that bills itself as an Acura specialist they seem to have very little knowledge on Acura’s. The last 4 times my Acura has been in the shop here its been a bust and ended up taking the car to Niello instead. Last year I had a recurring AC issue that Auto-​Tec was never able to figure out despite 3 separate visits to the shop. Niello figured it out in 1 day. I took my car in for suspension issues last month and the technician said it needed new steering arms and struts. We had the arms replaced and the car drove better. A couple weeks later my husband checked my tire pressures and found that on one of the tires the lug nuts had not been torqued and one actually had fallen off. I hate to think what kind of nasty accident I would have been in if he has not found the loose nuts. We also talked to Niello regarding the struts, and the service department said the struts did not need replacing. I try to spend money at small businesses, but I have had too many issues with Auto-​Tec at this point to warrant returning.

I am so happy with the quality work and customer service I received from Auto Tec; my 1993 Subaru had been in need of a check up for some time… The owener Jesse, and his staff were very professional, clear, and kind with me. Taking time to explain exactly what was going on with my car, then giving me all the information I needed to make my mind up about fixing the issues it was having. My car runs better than ever now! I highly recommend the quality work you will get when trusting your vehicle with Auto Tec. I am blessed to have such a wonderful local business I can take my vehicles to so close to home.

Guys over there really know there stuff and are straight up and honest. They do great work and while I was there the owner jesse even offered to pay for a ladies rental car if she couldn’t find a way to leave her car there for repairs. I would highly recommend Auto Tec you can’t go wrong

The new owner «Jesse» is incredible! He knows cars like the back of his hand and can fix just about anything. And if he can’t, he will tell you. He’s upfront, honest, and stands by his word. He has worked on several of my cars and I honestly wouldn’t take them anywhere else. So happy to have such an honest and quality mechanic in Loomis. Outstanding!

These guys are amazing! I have a class A motorhome that the fan for my radiator went out at 3pm on the Friday before Labor Day. I was traveling from TX and scheduled to be in Reno the next day. These guys found the only fan left in town and were able to fix it and get me back on the road that night. I was very impressed. Thanks again guys!

I have a 1952 studerbaker ask owner if he could get it started and bleed the brakes he said ok then he calls me two weeks after having the the car there telling me the wheel cylinders were shot and brake fluid saturated the brake shoes the wiring was shot charges me $ 120 plus 5gals of gas so I picked it up took it to another shop the they had to take a puller to get the brake drums off witch ment he never looked at the braked we looked and everything was new it took 15 mins to get it started and bled the brakes and drove off the owner at auto tec told me it would cost me 4 to 5 thousand to get it running very dishonest person he lied every thing was fine beware

These guys are awesome! It’s a smaller shop so you get excellent service. Their prices are reasonable and they are honest. Very competent too. What more could you ask for? Ignore past reviews, new owner Jason is great as is Alex, the service manager. Highly recommended. I’ve reviewed them before but for some reason they aren’t showing up.

I have been taking my cars to Autotec for the last 10 years and they are the best! It started with Pat the original owner and Jason use to work for him. Then Pat sold his place to Jason and it’s never changed. Totally honest and easy to talk to about your car problems. Alex is a great office support person for them. He explains everything going on with your car and what the mechanics are working on. What a team!

Recently had my 60K tune-​up done by the guys at Auto Tec in Loomis. I work nearby and the mechanics here are regulars at my café. I had talked to them about having some work done and they told me to come over anytime. The day I showed up, they were really busy so I offered to come back since I needed my car later. They insisted on helping me and even brought my car back when they were done. Even though they knew me beforehand, they treated me like a valued customer and got the job done in a timely manner. I would recommend Auto Tec to anyone seeking honest auto repair work at a fair price!

Amateurs. Like rednecks working under the shade tree. Prices vary upon which one writes you up. They charge 3xs the cost of parts, and they put a/​m parts but charge you for OEM. Owner is over flipping burgers next door at his new joint instead of paying attention to the real money maker. He leaves the 2 amateurs in charge. Younger «mechanic» is a spaz and he steals. I had something stolen from my car after it leaving it with the freaks for 4 hours. Oh and they open at 8 and close at 5 sometimes 430 without notifying anyone of the change. DO NOT GO HERE.
