Terrible service! I had them visit my home. They did not call to notify me when they would be visiting date or time. Then after they treated my lawn. The service tech broke my gate leading to my back yard.
Being that I wasn’t home because again they didn’t call to advise today was my service day I wasn’t home to verify the work. No note no slip no notification that the tech damaged my property. I then tried to call the office no avail. I then called the corporate office after over a half hour of talking to someone who seemed little help at all could only tell me no one can help me except someone at the «branch». And I can expect the issue to be resolved after I receive a phone call. Which will take more than 24−48hrs.
So my dogs will be leashed until they fix my issue. I would never use this service and anyone who has them should cancel because it truly seems like they don’t care about the customer.
And it is astonishing that a manager anywhere in the entire company isn’t available after 3pm est.

This is not starting out well. I got a brochure in the mail promising a $ 29.95 initial treatment, so I called and the salesman apparently looked up my address on Google maps and told me that price was for a ‘typical’ lawn of 5000 feet or less, and I had at least 3 times that amount so the price would be like $ 95 per treatment. So I hung up, and the next day a salesman was at the door wanting to walk the lawn and give me a better price, which I let him do. It then came out $ 71 per treatment but if I paid in advance it would drop down to about $ 62 a treatment. I asked about the discrepancy in pricing and the salesman had some funky explanation about the actual square footage being less than what the guy on the phone estimated from Google maps. Anyway, the pre-​emergent crabgrass preventer costs me around $ 50 for a 15,000 square foot bag, so I signed up. I told the salesman I wanted the pre-​emergent treatment at the first available opportunity as it has been a warm winter for the most part, so he guaranteed me a March 18 date.
Now it is a week later, and no treatment, so I called customer service and they tell me the salesman made a mistake and now it’ll be April 4^th. So I asked if they will come out to kill the crabgrass if it should emerge and try to take over the lawn, and she assured me they will do as many treatments as necessary. I don’t get any warm and fuzzy feeling of confidence however. We’ll see.

We started with this company because they had a very nice knowledgable man come to our door. After that they claimed I needed more services that I signed up for but never once came to my door to explain why. When I called about they assured me they would talk to me in person the next time they serviced. They didn’t. I asked for my service to be canceled more than 4 times and am still not sure if it has ever been documented. I wouldn’t recommend them because of the customer service.

I have used this company for the past 7 months and ended up cancelling today after discovering they destroyed several of my dogs toys by running over them with the aeration machine. A neighbor witnessed the TruGreen service person running over the toy and not even attempting to pick it up or go around it. My other big issue was a lack of communication, I never knew when they were coming. I only knew they came because of a note left on the door describing the service performed. I would have liked the opportunity to know they were on the premise and verify the job was done properly.

For the past several months I have been watching our lawn slowly deteriorate from a somewhat normal looking (albeit somewhat weedy-​hence wanting TruGreen in the first place) lawn to a sparse, patchy, dirt filled mud pit that was supposed to be aerated and over-​seeded in the fall to completely transform it into the lawn of our dreams. Each time TruGreen paid us a visit for the first couple of months they would leave a tag in the lawn to show they had been there and probably drum up business… then a few months ago when the lawn really started to look bad, they stopped doing this. Apparently they no longer want our neighbors to know what service has made our lawn look like crap.
This last service (which was supposed to be the big one) they didn’t aerate, they didn’t seed anything, or even step foot in the backyard like they were supposed to, instead they came and fertilized our driveway and part of our front yard.
So now my husband is stuck in what seems to be a common and endless loop of speaking to someone on the phone and waiting for a supervisor to call him back.
Terrible service. I’d give negative stars if I could.
Update: They finally came to do the big service after my husband calling them 2 – 4 times a week for two weeks. They ended up skipping a whole section and left a note that said we need to have our lawn aerated again because it’s extremely compacted. Yep, no thanks.

I started with this company in the spring of this year with the intention of getting a better yard for next year. They started the season with weed killer and explained that the yard would look worse initially, which was understandable as i had not had the service in past years. Thats pretty much where the story goes bad. Every time i get home after they have «treated» my lawn I look and the front yard and can see what they applied, but there is never anything on the sides or back lawn. Now, knowing that my yard needs work, I didn’t mind much waiting till fall for the aeration and seeding, and I totally understand that previous chemical treatments would not do much without this service being completed. I receive the typical automated call last week to say they will be out on Friday. Get a call friday to say it was resecheduled to Monday which was understandable due to the rain. Monday rolls around and when I get home I look at the front yard to see what was done and I see some fertilizer. I proceed to the back yard, where there isn’t much grass, to see there is no fertilizer. The invoice shows fertilizer was applied, but says nothing about aeration or the fact that once again only ¹⁄₃ on the yard was touched. When calling in to see what happened the answer always seems to be «we can send someone back out if you want». I don’t think I’m asking for much to pay for a service and not have to tell them exactly what I want. If I knew exactly what I needed, then why would I need the service!!!
Enough said. My advice is take the time to read up on what is needed and save the money doing it yourself.

Extremely disappointed in service in Alexandria, VA. For 13 years had service in Bethesda, MD and was very pleased. Have complained and am canceling service for grass and trees/​shrubs. Have requested a mgr call to discuss to no Abdul. I assume they just do not care about their product.

In spite of the awful reviews here, which I only saw after scheduling a meeting with the customer service manager (Steve) — I proceeded to meet with him and get an estimate — he was very personable and pleasant, identified several issues that made sense to us and promised us excellent service — in fact, given the reviews, we never signed up with him for a contract because he claimed he wanted to make sure we were pleased before we committed to an annual plan… good thing because we would NEVER use this company — ever — again.
First, they promised a discounted initial service, which was billed at full price but a call to Steve got that corrected, no problem. One of the main reasons we hired them however was for the aeration service and we were promised end of August/​early September — in fact we were scheduled for service last week and the technician called mid-​day, proclaiming a family emergency and that he would reschedule. I called him back on his cell, got his voice mail and ask that they try to come on Monday or call to discuss alternate dates because we wanted to be home when they came. HE NEVER CALLED ME BACK (now a week later!) So I called Steve, 3 times, every morning and ask that he call me — he has yet to return my calls — which is just inexcusable… I have his cell # and I’m confident he got my messages.
Bottom line: unresponsive companies who fail to do what they say they will do, fail to be responsive and customer service oriented, should be avoided. I would NEVER use this company again nor would I recommend them to my family, neighbors or friends. You cannot change the feathers of this bunch — they don’t understand customer service and they are in the service industry.
AVOID THIS COMPANY AND USE A LOCAL SERVICE — you will likely get better results. 0 stars!

If I could mark them less than a 1 out of 5 I would. After their unwillingness to return calls, show up on time, or provide any plan for lawn-​care I am done with this company.
I honestly feel sorry for the telephone help desk /​schedulers who have to field calls from unhappy customers. Total shame and total sham!

Horrid customer service. Continually was told that aeration and seeding was scheduled for a certain date. That date would come and nothing would happen. I’d call to find out what happened and they’d say, «We had delays,» or «I don’t see that you were scheduled.» This went on like this for 2+ months. FINALLY they came and did it. I was already done with the service.
I called and got a refund of any remaining amount on my account. No amount of discounts or deals could convince me to stay with this company.
PLUS– My lawn doesn’t look any better than it did before. It actually is a little patchy now.

This is the worst company in have ever dealt with. They do not care about keeping customers happy. Don’t no how they stay in business. Would NEVER use them again. Enough said.

I’m writing this review on behalf of my father. This company is terrible and did an awful job on his lawn. They then insisted on giving him a free session to see if he liked the results. He did not like the results and did not sign another contract with them. They have continued to send him numerous bills for work they did not perform. I do not recommend Trugreen to anyone.

This company is the worst!!! Their customer service is appalling can’t believe their still in business! They came out when they felt like it, did not professionally service my lawn care needs, and completely disregarded my calls to customer service. Tried to call supervisor several times and never one return call. Contacted BBB to get a response and finally got one. They refunded me the incorrect amount stating some bogus fees and such just not to pay me back my money for services not used. Go somewhere else – DO NOT I REPEAT —DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY AS YOU WOULD BE SORRY!

Be very careful you understand the service. They came into the backyard and sprayed toxic weed killers all over and right next to my organic vege garden. I had to toss everything. They sprayed lime all over the cars during a treatment as well.

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. Some of the worst (non-​existent) customer service that I have ever experienced.
Terrible lawn service too — missed whole sections of the lawn, scorched bushes with fertilizer, lawn actually seemed worse at the end of a year of service. Customer service didn’t respond to email. Phone service was equally abysmal with ridiculous hold times and I was promised a call back — never received. Completed an online survey that was sent and was told I would be contacted due to the extremely low ratings — I was never contacted.
I finally cancelled the service after getting the 1 year renewal notice and was finally called by customer service. I called back and, after waiting for 15 minutes on hold and 2 transfers, they were not sure why they called me to begin with.
The rep tried to sign me up again for service but after I explained that I NEVER wanted to do business with them again I then discovered the real reason was to check a single months charge (for the new year that I canceled). I was told this final charge would be forgiven because of customer service issues — but now I have begun receiving 2 – 3 calls a day from the «billing» department requesting payment.
Take your business to someone who actually cares. You might was well set your money on fire in your lawn for the amount of good that this service will provide to you and your lawn.
