Anya’s Practice

I am a somatic psychotherapist in Palo Alto and Berkeley. I first came to Anya last year to work on my hormones. I had been to many acupuncturists but Anya is a true healer. And she has created a healing space in the midst of Silicon Valley. Yesterday, I saw her again. It’s not necessary to tell her a lot because she is so intuitive that she knows right away what needs to be done. She felt my body with her hands and right away went to my gallbladder which has been causing me trouble. After a wonderful acupuncture session, she also gave me a Gua Sha massage for pain in my neck and back. I felt 100% better when leaving. Everything in her space adds to the healing energy, resting on a bio mat, soaking in the smell of homeopathic lavender cream and Anya’s gentle and caring energy and her non-​judgmental and positive outlook on life. And she takes her time. Since my first visit last year, I have referred many of my clients to her and and every single one felt transformed by Anya. So have I. Thank you Anya.

Anya is one of those people that just makes you feel at ease from the moment you walk through the door. She is kind, warm and very knowledgeable in her field. I have been a client of hers for over two years, and have only wonderful things to say. She is always helped me no matter what issue I came to her with. She is also very patient and accommodates my crazy schedule. I would recommend her 100%!!!

I am not usually one to leave Unilocal reviews, but after seeing even one bad review of Anya I had to come her to defense. Maybe the girl who wrote the bad comments just got up on the wrong side of the massage table I mean bed or better yet she went to the wrong address altogether. Anya has been a savior to me for quite some time now for my elbow pain and life stresses. I went to doctors, physical therapist, and nothing was working for my elbow pain till her. Honestly, I got to say I was a bit skeptical to the whole needles concept when I first went to her. Acupuncture was nothing short of snake oil to me before going to her. Boy was I wrong. She has improved me to where almost all my pain is gone. Coming to her has always been the most relaxing and therapeutic part of my week. I think she should change the name of her business to Anya’s Asylum. What she does is not a practice at all she has it down to a science. She not only relieves your pain but she takes you away from the stress and aches of the big bad world by transporting you to her peaceful realm. Her techniques take me to the hard to reach place called relaxation. That ain’t no easy feat either when you got two kids, two dogs, two house to run, and too many work projects but too little time .
Thanks so much for all that you have done for me mind, body and spirit Anya. Now you know its not just women who sing your praises Anya. This man would gladly shout their appreciation for you from a mountain top if asked.

I recently visited Anya with my mother who has late stage cancer. We both sought treatment for a variety of issues. It turns out, Anya’s practice is comprised of 35% cancer patients and she’s very familiar with the ravages of this disease on the body.
I was impressed that Anya seems to «read» what’s going on even before you tell her. She’s got a very keen sense for detail and bodily signals. I am still early days with her so it’s far too soon to tell how well her treatments work but I was referred by a long time patient who sings her praises from here to the moon and back.
To the earlier review that remarked on Anya’s bedside manner and demeanor — I think different people simply interact differently. I got the definite sense that Anya frowns on traditional Western therapies but she never came out and suggested we halt any current practices. And while she was not overly friendly when we first met, once we began treatment she was so keenly aware of what I was saying and what was going on with my body that I just gave it up t her. For whatever it’s worth, Anya’s assistant seems very much in lock-​step with her and their communication seemed very respectful during my visit.
At the end of my visit, Anya had a chance to evaluate both me and my mother and the feedback I got after one short visit was spot-​on. I’m definitely going back and I’m really glad I found her.

Anya’s practice has had an immense impact on my life. Yes, she does acupuncture but she’s a healer in so many other ways. I’ve learned not only about meridian flows, nurturing foods for various conditions and to improve general health, numerous herbs and their healing properties as well as discovering my own healing abilities. Anya doesn’t just treat the symptom, whatever it may be. She genuinely wants you to be well… body and mind. But she asks that you participate in the healing process — there are no magic wands here and that’s what makes her so authentic and so powerful. She teaches you to heal yourself. I’m very grateful to her for all she’s done for me and so many others.

My manager told me about this place and I respect her opinion, so I gave it a chance. I really wanted to like Anya. I’m not sure if Anya was having a bad day, but I definitely did not feel comfortable around her. I did not get the sense that she was genuinely concerned about me. I used the term «period» for menstrual cycle and Anya was obviously annoyed and went on a long tangent about how it is not my «period». She actually made me feel very inferior and intimidated. My opinions were dismissed and I felt like a child that has just been scolded at. Yes, I’m sure she is very smart, but there are ways to share knowledge without demeaning others.
During the acupuncture I was very AWAKE and AWARE. I was counting the minutes for the treatment to be over. I left the appointment still tense and uneasy.
She was also VERY rude and disrespectful to her receptionist. I just imagined being her receptionist and the thought made me cringe. The way someone treats their employees is a good reflection of their character.
I was not informed beforehand that payment was made through cash or check. I only had my debit and credit card. I will mail a check to pay off my balance.

Anya is very knowledgeable in many areas: herbs, acupuncture, massage, and more. She has helped my family and I highly recommend her.

Anya is solid.
She embodies grounded holistic healing from her heart with the precision of her mind and divine wisdom that moves her hands. I feel so much better. My understanding, awareness and health has improved clearly from tests I took before seeing her and after. Anya is a very talented and knowledgeable acupuncturist in particular has taken very good care of my husband with good results.

I have used Anya for over ten years and she is the best massage and acupuncture therapist on the Peninsula Anya is an extraordinary listener and she is very astute at identifying, diagnosing and healing. I have had issues back and neck pain over the years and Anya is always my first call. She can break the muscle spasms and relieve the pain. I highly recommend Anya as an outstanding healer.
