Let me start off saying that I don’t really buy jewelry that much, especially diamonds. Hence, I have no idea about diamonds and how to choose the right one. I was driving by this place and decided to make a stop. The woman there, I think she was the manager, Liana, was extremely helpful. She got me a very good deal on a very beautiful necklace. Then, when my cousin was getting engaged, I introduced him to this store. And that’s where he ended up getting his ring. Once again, left very satisfied. Thank you Diamon Brokers of Los Altos!

SO disappointed. 10 years ago, my now husband purchased a BEAUTIFUL wedding set. Platinum, a stunning stone and lovely band stones to compliment. I was thrilled and excited.
After the wedding, we went back and had it soldered together. Great. Looks fine.
A few years later, I notice that one of the prongs on the large diamond was worn, I took it in for repair, they replaced the prong. Fine.
Fast forward to now, 2015. I live in Morgan Hill now and it’s a bit of a trek to Los Altos. I need my ring sized, so I go to the local jeweler. After a few days, they call me back and inform me that there will have to be a seam in my rings, because he can’t fire the rings because the soldier was done in white gold. NOT PLATINUM. They explain that gold melts at a lower heat than platinum. So if they fired hot enough to use platinum, it would melt the entire solder. Further, upon inspection, the prong that had been replace was also replaced in white gold, not platinum. To my untrained eye, I had no idea… except…when I had that prong replaced a few years ago, the person who helped me at the Diamond Brokers told me that the yellowing I was noticing was just because it needed polishing — and age. Well, what do I know? Ok, says me.
Until now… that’s why my solder was yellowing — it was white gold NOT platinum. $ 800 later to remove the white gold soldier so that I can have my ring sized without a seam — and then replaced with platinum, you have a very unhappy customer.
*VERY* unhappy customer. :(

I decided to remake my wedding set and stopped by the Diamond Brokers of Los Altos. I was immediately greeted warmly and professionally. Garo provided good ideas and feedback on what I envisioned as the «end result». I was very specific on my design preference and what I received was nothing less than perfect. At one point Garo asked me to trust him, as the 3D image was not as I had expected… so I trusted and what I got was a wedding set that I ADORE!!! I receive compliments daily, and love wearing the set (my last set became too uncomfortable to wear due to arthritis in my fingers). I trust the expertise of this merchant, the quality of their work is stupendous, and their customer service spot on! My new favorite Los Altos gem (pun intended)! Also… I was invited to come back any time to have my rings cleaned… which I do regularly!

I recently purchased my fiancés engagement ring from the Diamond Broker of Los Altos. I was referred to Garro at the Diamond Broker from my Father, who had purchased my Mothers engagement ring here years ago. I can’t explain how happy I was with Garro and his excellent service. He walked me through every step of purchasing a diamond and gave me a detailed course on the do’s and don’ts when purchasing a diamond. I went to Garro with a picture of the ring my girlfriend had seen at Kay Jewelers and he matched it perfectly! And the price was substantially lower in cost. In the end my fiancé loved the ring and was also excited that in the future we had the option of upgrading to larger diamond and the lifetime guarantee! Ignorant, arrogant, and incompetent.
Ignorant: I have lost my ring. I submitted a claim to State Farm who asked Garvani & Company for a quote on the replacement cost. The lady from Garvani’s called me to make an appointment to bring my [lost] ring in for a quote.
Arrogant: When I explained I didn’t want to come in and browse, I just needed a quote, the jeweler angrily said, «my time is valuable.»
Incompetent: The quote they gave State Farm to replace my ring is 50% more than my husband paid for it 25 years ago. Does anything today cost just 50% more than in 1988?
I have asked State Farm to go to a different jeweler for a quote and they have graciously agreed.

If you are interested in buying a loose diamond, you should buy it from The Diamond Broker. Not only will you get the best diamond at the cheapest price, you will also gain security knowing that the loose diamond is going to be set at the same location. They can also send the loose diamond out to the GIA laboratory to have it laser inscribed before having it set. They also re-​size the ring for free.
I researched for months and months online for the best loose diamond prices. I found the lowest prices for the highest quality of diamonds at
. Paul at the diamond broker not only beat their prices, he found a loose diamond with a slightly bigger carat weight than the one I requested. Needless to say, we were very happy and will be returning to purchase our wedding bands. We would refer the diamond broker to anyone.

We went shopping for my wedding band because of the positive reviews. There was a design that we really liked and asked them for a quote and they provided it in Platinum, 18k gold and 14k gold. It seemed to be pretty high (because our friends recently got a wedding band there for a much lower price). We asked if that’s the best they could do and they said yes. Granted it was 2 weeks before the wedding, we didn’t want to get rushed into a decision.
We talked to our friends about it and it turns out they only got a low price because they comparison shopped, found a low price and asked them to price match. they grudgingly agreed to price match.
There’s a big problem with that… I believe that a good business should offer competitive pricing to begin with and should do their best to win your business. We did more comparison shopping and ended up at Derco at the gift center in SF where they had the same band at prices over 50% lower than Diamond Broker (I kid you not 50% lower).
Now do we play the match the price game by calling them back? Hell no. They will not get my business. I ended up with the band I wanted at the price I wanted and it wasn’t at The Diamond Broker

There are two things that matter, in my view, when it comes to buying an engagement ring. First, your fiancé-​to-​be must absolutely love the ring that you end up buying. Second, you have to develop a relationship with your jeweler that is predicated on TRUST and HONESTY so that you can know that you are getting a high quality product that the jeweler stands behind.
Out of the fifteen or twenty jewelers that I visited in the bay area and online, the Diamond Broker in Los Altos best satisfied these two criteria. They helped me custom design – for an incredibly affordable price – a ring that my Fiancé absolutely adores, and they did it with incredible attention to detail, openness, and flexibility (big props to Paul, who I worked with throughout the whole process, and who is a consummate professional). I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who is starting to look for a ring – you will not be disappointed.
A couple more specific observations. First, the Diamond Broker will beat or at least match any online price you can find for a mounting and loose stone. A couple of my friends had suggested getting a ring with Blue Nile, and so I spent a fair bit of time looking at their settings and stones. The best thing you can do is spend some time on those websites (Blue Nile and
were the two I relied on most) to get a sense of what kind of stone you want that can fit within your budget and what kind of setting you like. I particularly like
for settings – they have a large selection.
Then, I recommend you to go in to the Diamond Broker and tell them what you’re looking for and let them work their magic. Over a two month period before actually buying a ring, Paul brought in 6 or 8 different stones that matched my specifications or were close to it (in fact, I ended up getting a larger stone than I had expected precisely because it was so affordable). Paul even called me on a few occasions with updates about new stones in his inventory, and we ended up choosing what he found to be an incredible value– a .98 G VS2 EX EX EX for a little over $ 5k (including tax). Considering that the diameter of the stone is 6.44×6.48, which puts it squarely in 1.00 karat range, you won’t find a better deal online at the Nile or elsewhere.
To give you an idea for how Paul and the Diamond Broker team earned my trust, from the outset they were clearly interested in designing the best ring for us, not in making money. Paul even suggested that I get a 14K white gold band instead of an 18k or platinum band because even though it’s cheaper and his margin would be less, it is the best fit for my fiancé who is fairly active and uses her hands a bunch, since 14k white gold is the most sturdy. At one point, through no fault of the Diamond Broker’s, the cutter who was shipping the stone we decided on was taking longer than usual and Paul was worried we wouldn’t make the timeline I had set out – and so he volunteered to cut into his profit margin (which he even revealed to me up front – how straight-​up is that!!!) to get a comparable stone that would have been more expensive. It turned out that the stone made it in time for the ring to be finished for the proposal, but his offer was genuine and highly appreciated.
Another terrific thing about the Diamond Broker is their ability to custom design a setting that you like. Want a Tiffany’s setting but not at a Tiffany’s price? Come see the Diamond Broker and they’ll customize something similar but much more affordable. That’s what they did for me — I found a design on
and matched it with the awesome stone that Paul helped me find as described above.
Lastly, let me compare the Diamond Broker a little bit to the stores in the area. I read lots of good reviews for Diamonds of Palo Alto and checked out the place. The folks there were super nice just like at Diamond Broker, but ultimately their prices were 50%-75% higher. Not all of their stones were GIA certified, to begin with (nothing wrong with the other cert labs of course but GIA is the gold standard as I understand it), and a comparable stone at Diamonds of Palo Alto to the one I got at Diamond Broker was in the $ 8 or $ 9 thousand dollar range. And let’s not even get started with the commercial stores like Zales, Kay, Helzberg, etc. – those places will pass on their enormous advertising budgets to you, resulting in prices two times or even higher than what you should get at DB.
In conclusion, the decision where to get your engagement ring is a HUGE choice, and if you’re going to spend time and a fair bit of money on it, you should do yourself a favor and stop by the Diamond Broker. If you want to spend one or two thousand dollars on a pre-​made ring, a mall store like zales or kay might be better for you, but if you want something truly special for the right price and from people you can trust, the Diamond Broker is the best in the business.

Although my fiancé and I are not getting our rings here, we were really impressed by the salesman who helped us. I can’t remember his name, but it seems like (from other Unilocalers) that the staff here is really nice. My fiancé and I had gotten a quote from another jeweler on the ring I liked, and we wanted to do a little price comparison with other stores. Although this store carried the designer, they did not have the setting I wanted in the store. The salesman suggested another store in the area that also carried the designer. My fiancé said we had just gotten a quote from them and were price comparing. Surprising to us, the salesman sat down and ran some numbers. In the end, he said the quote we got was very fair and assured us we would not regret it if we took that deal. He said he knew the other jeweler and they were good people. I guess he could not offer us a better deal, because he did not try to sell us anything. It was nice though, that he took the time to make sure that we weren’t getting ripped off. Very, very cool!

There just isn’t a better group of people to work with than the staff
at The Diamond Broker. Even if you don’t live anywhere near Los Altos,
CA you can work with them to locate or design and build the best piece
of jewelry you can afford. I looked everywhere for a stone and setting
that I would not hesitate offering to my girlfriend, but I only found
salesmen, who either wanted to quickly pawn off their gawdy inventory
on me or who wanted to overcharge for designing a custom piece. I
looked for three months on both the east and west coast and only Jerry
at DB was interested primarily in have a conversation about what I was
looking for in a ring. When I finally found Jerry, he quickly located
many possible diamond options. I decided on a unique 1.5 ct Asscher cut
diamond, which was offered at a very competitive price. We then went
about putting together a setting design that fully complemented the
stone. Since I live in San Diego, we worked entirely over the phone and
by sending images and drawings of what we had in mind via email. (It
helps to learn the setting and diamond jargon.) Jerry let me know what
was necessary and possible. His design experience guided the entire
process. He incorporated all the elements I found beautiful in other
rings, had endless suggestions about where we could take the design,
and he pulled all the individual elements together so that the final
piece was a perfectly proportioned piece of art. On top of that, the
final cost was exactly what I originally said I wanted to pay.
My fiancé loves her ring and I can’t thank Jerry enough for making that
happen.

When my fiancé and I went to the diamond broker for the first time we were amazed at the stores collection of both Tacori and Scott Kay settings. Paul, one of the sales associates was great. He was very patient with our questions and attended to all our needs. I tried on a lot of rings and fell in love with a Tacori setting. Paul was very helpful with different ring designs and also was able to get a hold of some rings I was interested in that were not in the store.

Purchased my fiancé’s engagement ring from Garvani, they had a great selection of rings and center stones. I mentioned my budget to Garo (the owner) and he immedietly pulled out one of the nicest stones I had ever seen, and I was shocked that the price was so low. He did not try to upsell me, nor did I feel pressured to buy now.
I gave them a 5 star, because I was surprised when I got the appraised value of my fiancé’s ring, and it was double of what I paid. Needless to say, my new wife is very happy with her ring and I will definetly do business with them again. I always refer my friends to them by word of mouth, and now that they are on Unilocal… I am recommending my new Unilocal! friends to check them out…

Jeff and Jerry at the Diamond Broker are true class acts. They really helped my fiancée and I find a quality engagement and wedding set and didn’t try to sell us crap (which other places has no qualms about). They were very honest about the value and quality of the diamond we chose, and gave us a fair price. I would recommend them to anyone!
