Gina Serraiocco, MD

This review is to tell you how wonderful of a doctor Dr. Serraiocco is. I had a problem and I emailed her. She responded within an hour and said she would squeeze me in after all her patients that day. Everything she suggested I do was helpful. She even contacted me the next day to check on me and to tell me she consulted with a specialist and gave me that information. She followed up a few days later by email. Dr S is the most carrying Doctor i have been to. She is an excellent doctor and I would highly recommend her to anyone else needing an internal medicine doctor who truly cares about her patients.

I am nervous about posting another positive review for fear that the secret will get out and make it harder to get an appointment with her!
Dr. Serraiocco provides truly personalized attention at a time when the medical profession seems to actively discourage this. I found Gina after seeing several other doctors at the Los Altos/​Distel branch of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation. They were fine, but the process felt like going to a fast-​food take-​out place: generic service squished into 15 minutes. «Here, I’ll write you a prescription even if you don’t really need one, just so you’ll feel like you’ve gotten something out of this visit. Bye!»
Gina is completely different. As other reviewers have said, Gina will suggest non-​pharmaceutical solutions and take a more holistic approach to your wellness. She diagnosed my longstanding issue with fatigue as a Vitamin D deficiency. She’s gotten me through several nasty flu/​sinus infections.
Bottom line: I feel well-​cared for, and I can’t imagine having a better primary doctor.

I’ve been going to Gina for years and she’s awesome. She’s conservative in her approach and always tries to focus on the real problems. I’ve always appreciated her strong ability to listen and her super quick responses (i.e. refills, need a referral, advice, etc.) and feedback when I need it. I highly recommend her.

As I said before she made a lifetime diagnosis after listening to me for 15 minutes… In retrospect this was not a good idea because she started me on medication before really understanding what was wrong with me which goes 100% against her «no quick fix» mentality.(She also suggested Yoga, eating healthy, therapy and exercise). Furthermore my problem was psychiatric and should have been treated by a specialist or at least confirmed clinically over a period of several appointments… The meds were effective for a while but when I started having problems with them she didn’t know what to do and then suggested that I talk to a psychiatrist after the fact.
The main reasons I am giving her 4 stars and I continue to keep her as my primary care doctor are:
1.She is VERY fast with referrals and answering e-​mails
2. She works well with specialists and other doctors you may be seeing
3. But mostly, she really does care and goes out of her way for her patients
When all is said and done I would still recommend her to anybody for non-​psychiatric problems.

Dr. Serraiocco is outstanding! I’m so grateful I happened to select her as my primary care doctor. How awesome is she? Let me tell you…
— She has the patience of a saint and is super nice!

— She clearly knows her stuff, but takes the time to (really) listen to me and collaborate with me on my health care.
Recent example of Dr. S awesomeness: I messaged her yesterday about a health concern, and she squeezed me in at 7:45am this morning before her first official appointment.

I went through a lot (a novel long story) of trouble to be able to see Gina. I decided I wanted her after a strong recommendation, the reviews I read and her affiliation to other doctors I needed a referral for. I am SOOOOO happy I went through all that trouble.
Honestly, I was so relieved after meeting her that I would have gone through all that trouble again. She is so honest and listens and is so efficient. I was so comfortable during my visit and really satisfied with our conversation. She is obviously very knowledgeable and has great bedside manner. She is literally the best doctor I have ever had.

Dr. Serraiocco is great! I just came by last week for my pap smear, and as awkward as those things are, she did her best to not make anything awkward at all!
I also like how she is young and energetic, so seeing the «doctor» is not a dreadful thing at all. She seems to live a very active lifestyle, even as a busy doctor, so it’s also a plus to know my doctor is so active and healthy.
I like her! I was recommended to her by a friend, and I am now recommending her to my other friends who are search of a female doctor.

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Serraiocco. She’s a phenomenal primary care physician, and has taken great care of me for years. She makes you feel like her most important patient, and not just another number. I really appreciate that she’s not the type who just throws pills at you — she wants to figure out the root problem and also encourages non-​medication solutions.
Her assistant, Michele, is also fantastic. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Serraiocco!

I love this Physician to no end, there’s no other way to describe my feelings for her. This doctor is the reason I am willing to commute 2 hours each way just for a quick visit. What the heck? Sounds crazy but there’s a rhyme and reason to my insanity. She genuinely cares for her patients, listens thoroughly and is incredibly sensitive to each person’s unique needs and concerns. She is attentive and so professional yet personable– it puts you immediately at ease. She is so responsive that even for something minor, she will try to get back as soon as possible even if that means responding to my emails at odd hours of the day. This goes to show you how incredibly dedicated she is to her patients. Whether it is something minor as a cough or a life-​changing-​event, she will do whatever is within her means and power to take good care of you. When I moved back to the Bay area, I was devastated to hear that she was no longer able to take on new patients. But I asked the care team to see if she would be willing to take me as I was a former patient and even though it had been years, she still remembered me like it was yesterday! Dr. Serraiocco has had to personally call my pharmacist/​specialists and let me tell you– people are always telling me how lucky I am to have such a gentle, kind, compassionate and sweet Doctor. They are so impressed that she will take time out of her busy day to personally take care of something as small as a referral or a refill Rx for her patient.

I had my first visit with Dr Serraiocco. I found her based on Tessa’s review. I did some more research on her and found only positive reviews. She’s definitely interested in everything I have to say. She wanted to treat the patient, and not just the disease.
The Palo Alto Medical Foundation is also great. Everything can be taken care of online such as appointments, lab results and even messaging to the doctor. Her staff is friendly and so helpful. Their lab in Los Altos is speedy and efficient.
I’m glad people like her decided to go into medicine. She’s going to be my lifesaver!

Top four reasons why I [heart] my doctor:
1. She patiently listens when I explain for 15 minutes why I think my sniffle might actually be a brain infection draining though my nasal cavity. «Really doc, we should run some tests to be sure.»
2. She says, «Why don’t you just take a couple days off work and call me if you don’t feel better.»
3. She doesn’t freak out when I tell her all the bad things I do at Burning Man. She just shakes her head and reminds me to get enough sleep and stay hydrated.
4. She prescribes yoga.
