My girlfriend and I went to see Dr. Kim after a very frustrating experience with a high-​tech straight western fertility clinic. Basically, after putting both of us through a battery of tests and then prep for IVF with ICSI, they told us that our odds weren’t good enough to proceed. In other words, our chances might screw up their success statistics, so they wouldn’t do it.
At a loss for where to turn, we fortunately were referred to Dr. Kim. What a difference! Instead of sterile and cold facilities, we got warm and welcoming. Instead of being condescended to, we were welcomed as collaborators in the process of conceiving our child. My girlfriend is first generation Chinese-​American and I’m a European-​American mutt, so she puts more credence in the herbal and acupuncture treatments than I do, but I certainly appreciated the way Dr. Kim draws from both western and eastern medical disciplines to create a holistic approach to fertility. And I certainly have seen enough friends get pregnant once they stopped trying so hard and rebalanced their lives, which is a very important part of Dr. Kim’s approach. And the bottom line is it worked. We got pregnant the natural way after a couple of months of acupuncture and herbal treatments, and consultation about balance and relaxation, with Dr. Kim.

Dr. John Kim and his office staff are a wonderful team in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. He specializes in infertility and reproductive medicine. His practice is a unique combination of cutting-​edge western medicine, utilizing state-​of-​the art reproductive science techniques, and eastern medicine with attention to Chinese acupuncture and herbal remedies which have been clinically proven to enhance fertility. He is fully trained in both schools of medicine. The office has a soothing environment and great attention to detail and patient comfort. I went to him on the recommendation of a friend after having no success with standard reproductive medicine at the Reproductive Science Center in San Ramon, where I was treated like a statistic, yet another 41 year old woman whose odds were stacked against here. Dr. Kim gave me the straight facts, but tempered it with kindness and sensitivity and left room for hope which I had little left of. After receiving acupuncture and herbal treatments for a month and a half, I became pregnant on my own without any high-​tech interventions. I recommend Dr. Kim wholeheartedly and encourage all patients who are reproductively challenged to pay him a visit. By the way, I am not only a doctor but a surgeon as well, and I would not be leaving this review if I did not absolutely have total confidence in him – my standards in physician care are pretty high.
