Oh. My. Goodness. Literally the best experience I’ve ever had with a car shop. I had just gotten my car back from an accident and my check engine light goes on. Great right? Not only that my car stopped shifting gears and my speedometers were not working. I took it to pep boys and the dealer, they said new transmission… That’s $ 2000! Took it here and guess what, the control module was just unplugged near my foot pedal!!! JUST UNPLUGGED! Haha, I didn’t need a new transmission at all. They were SO honest with me and kept me updated and in the loop the whole time, and SUPER fast. Car was in on Monday and out on Tuesday. Super thankful for this place, I definitely won’t be going anywhere else for my car services ツ thanks Vince and the rest of the team! You are THE BEST!

Went for an oil change and they were super quick and Vince was extra nice and helpful. Will definitely be coming here again for my cars tune ups.

When I got into my 2007 Aura TL to take my friend to the airport last month I noticed I had little power in Drive and the the car wouldn’t engage into Reverse. I called AAMCO after calling a few other shops int he area that all said they didn’t do transmissions. I was expecting to use of my AAA tows but they said they offered a free tow included in my repair! They even arranged for me to drop off the car after hours which was very convenient.
After diagnosing that there were a number of problems with my transmission a few days later I received a call with their detailed analysis. Although I wasn’t happy to hear that I would need to replace the entire transmission, their friendly customer service and them taking the time to explain to me exactly what they found made me rest easier that they would take good care of my car. After they repaired the transmission they said that my car was experiencing low voltage and I also had to have my alternator and battery replaced. Again it wasn’t easy to swallow another item that needed to be replaced but ultimately the entire job came to just over $ 3k which I believe to be a very fair price. When I drove my car off the lot I realized the radio wouldn’t turn on and although I know they were very busy they invited me to come right back and had one of their technicians fix the problem in about 15 minutes which was great.
Overall although the experience of getting your car repaired is never fun, Randy, Vince, and company make the process as good as possible. Have realistic expectations about how long it takes to tear an entire car apart and put it back together and you’ll find you’re a lot more satisfied. I hope I don’t need any car repairs in the future but I know where I’m going if I do and persuade you to do the same.

I have gotten my oil change & car repairs done twice at this location and each time Vince and his team take really good care of me and my vehicle. This was the first place I went when I moved to LA and even though I have since moved further away from the location I still go to this AAMCO for all my car maintenance needs and continue to do so. Thank you Vince!

I gave them 1 star because i had to. please stay away from this place. This is by far the worst customer service ever. RANDY the go to guy was so disrepectfull and rude. Learn how to treat your customers loser!!! Where do i begin… my car has been there 1 day and a half and no diagnostic yet. Randy claims he has alot of cars on lot… ok dummy if that is the case tell ur customers so that i can take my car somewhere else. Then he proceeds to offend me by asking me «are u curious or will you get the services done here?» really Randy ur gonna sit there and ask your coustomer that. So in other words cars only get diagnosed if you get the service there… this my friends is false advertisement because its all over the internet RANDY AAMCO offers FREE diagnostic go educate urself. As one of the CEO i would feel embarrassed to have an individual working in my company, representing my company and doesn’t even know their services. In a nut shell dont waste your time or money people. Randy plz change carrers you won’t make it far in this industry.

This place charges way too much and rips people off. Their poor workmanship does not warrant the crazy amounts they fabricate. Their pricing is completely arbitrary, they charge whatever they think they can get away with. The good reviews you read are fake. Truly an unethical business, vince and steve are thieves, they have no business morals. They have been reported to the better business bureau for their dishonest transactions.

AAMCO has moved to 2030 S Western but worth the trip. Even in the middle of their major move, they fit me in for an oil change first thing in the morning. They treated me right. This is the only place to go if you have an older car.

I grew up in New York City and bought my first-​ever car upon coming to Los Angeles three years ago. As such, I am not particularly automotive-​savvy, a fact that made me nervous the first time I had an issue with my car; the reputation of auto mechanics as predatory con-​artists made me dread taking my car to the shop. My fears were seemingly confirmed by the first repair shop I went to, where the proposed solution I was presented seemed exorbitant. I went to AAMCO of Hollywood and got a much more obviously honest appraisal of what was needed.
I have since been back a couple times for oil changes, and have enjoyed the experience each time. Their pricing is very reasonable. Vince is always fun to talk to, and has been great with the (free) advice he has given me about my car. And I actually really enjoy the 1980s red-​white-​and-​blue aesthetic of the place; it reminds me of childhood. I feel very comfortable with Vince and his team, and am very glad to have found these guys!

This business has an «F» rating with the Better Business Bureau for failure to respond to three complaints against the business, one of which was mine. A few months ago, my husband was having transmission problems, his car would not always go into gear readily. He brought it to this Aamco shop and was told most problems are minor, not to worry, etc., etc. He paid $ 900 for the initial work. After the car was taken apart, my husband was told the work would now cost an additional $ 1,900! We felt stuck and approved the expense and the work was done. Three days after getting the car back, the transmission failed while my husband was driving in our neighborhood. He called the Aamco shop and was told they were about to close and could not tow the car that day. We had to call AAA and use one of our own tows to get it back to Aamco. And, we had to rent a car again.
Once Aamco had the car back, we were told the transmission failed due to a bad part and they had to order another. We were told the car would be ready in two to three days, on Wednesday. When my husband called Wednesday, he was told they received the wrong part and now had to wait again for the right part. The car was done by Thursday. Now we had a one week car rental bill (Sat to Thursday) due to Aamco’s bad or wrong parts. We asked them to pay the rental bill for the second time the car was in their shop since it was wholly their responsibility that it had to be brought back in. They refused.
Rather than voice my grievances on Unilocal,I decided to give this place the benefit of the doubt and filed a complaint with the BBB to at least get the rental fee back and some of the transmission work reimbursed. The BBB contacted this Aaamco shop and they never responded to the complaint. Hence, this review.

Very happy with the work done on my car! It no longer leaks… Vince and I had a long and helpful conversation in problems with my car. He got me the lowest price when he could of charged me for new parts. Instead he cleaned my transmission gasket, shaped it and cleaned it up. Thank you very much! Now I can drive my car worrie free.

The best auto service in Los Angeles! Honest, straight forward and Vince has the best attitude I’ve ever seen from an auto shop manager! Vince has got my business for life! Not only did they quote me less than anyone in LA, but Vince actually advised me not to replace some things that I assumed needed fixing, that’s right he literally trimmed the fat off the job (and payment) looking out for my best interest rather than gobbling money! Never heard of such treatment from an auto mechanic…
Anyway one major bonus, they know all ranges of cars, knowledgable on both my VW and Cadillac. This is the place for maintaining my vehicles as long as I live in this town. Thanks a tonn guys!

I’ve had great service here twice on my Honda: for a new starter and for work on the radiator. They were fast and efficient — both times the work was done within 24 hours and it was very fairly priced. Vince and Joe are very personable and knowledgable. They have become my go-​to mechanics. I recommend them very highly.

Thank God for Vince! I had my transmission rebuilt by the guys at AAMCO Hollywood and Vince even shopped around for cheaper rates so I could get the best deal. The warranty is a great bonus too!
Regardless of the perks, I promise you, when you work with Vince, you are working with a good person. He listens and understands which is rare nowadays. He works for AAMCO, but he works with you. I’ll definitely return for other repairs in the future.

In addition to fixing my Ford Taurus they did a great job fixing by brother in law’s Cadillac.

Don’t go here! They will rip you off! These guys seem nice when you first get there; but don’t let it fool you! I went in to have one thing fixed, and the longer my car was there (OVER a week; NOT CONVENIENT!) they kept coming up with more and more charges! They charged me almost $ 2000 to fix my car (which is only worth $ 3000!!)
If they had done the diagnostics properly I would have been able to make an informed decision about whether i even wanted to fix my car at all, but they pressured me by saying it wouldn’t pass the smog check… Guess what? $ 2000 later it still didn’t pass and now I’m stuck with a messed up car that can’t even be driven in California! When I went back to sort things out, the told me they were really busy; I should bring my car back next month! I don’t have time to waste on these incompetent guys.
They put in rusty used old parts from cars that aren’t even the same make or model as mine. The smog check mechanic thinks they actually broke other things on my car.
Needless to say they ripped me off. I could go on and on, but the point is: these guys are fraudulent con artists. «Aamco» is a recognizable name, and I thought that equated some sort of accountability, but no; they don’t answer to anyone, its a franchise apparently. These guys are not to be trusted.
Avoid the fraud! Avoid the hassle! Don’t go here! You have been warned!!!

Dishonest people. Took my car here for a repair after the Check Engine Light came on and was charged for a diagnostic which I was told would be put towards the eventual repairs. However, was charged for the full cost of the repairs without the cost of the diagnostic deducted.
Did not realize this until a few weeks later on my credit card statement, I’ll admit that, but I called anyway and whoever I spoke to at first was absolutely not helpful. Called later to speak to Jamie who admitted that I was charged incorrectly and told me that their ‘bookkeeper’ would take care of it in the coming week.
This bookkeeper did *not* take care of it in the coming week, even after I visited their shop in person. The guy who seemed to be the manager told me to call them the next day in case the refund did not go through.
Of course it didn’t. But instead of dealing with their crooked selves, I went through my credit card company to get my money back. Never taking my car here again. Utterly dishonest.

BEWARE!!!
Went in to have my transmission checked and they said I needed air filter, spark plugs, oil, 4 O2 sensors and other. They thought they could name all the general random stuff and I would agree. And for most people it would work but I had the basics done 3 weeks before. That means they didn’t even take the time to look at the car or they straight out made things up. I got a second opinion on my O2 sensors and firestone said that only 2 of the sensors were out. When I went back to Ammco I asked why they had said that and they shrugged it off and said I should just do it. They did not advise me to let me know there are two out but suggest you do all four.
Who does that? This was not one employee this is how this establishment runs. If your thinking this is an isolated incident think again.

I went in and the place was spotless. They treated me great right from the start and were very clear. Then I couldn’t find my wallet. I called Don and he kept it safe for me. Awesome service and very honest!

I got my oil changed at AAMCO Hollywood they really know what needs to be done right. Very professional fast and most importantly great services. It’s only the great place to get your oil changed but the mechanical work they do is awesome and I really liked the friendly advice and concerns you get from the shop.
This is the only place I would go for car maintenance.
