When you come in the shop, it’s like you are not in LA anymore. The look of the tiny spot they have inside and out is really shabby, could use some TLC, and the smell was so strong inside so if you are not used to the strong African spice smell, beware. They have good products though! Giant red palm oil container that’s like 25bucks and some other stuffs that taste authentic!

I’m Ghanaian/Liberian and I’ve been looking for a quality African market since I moved here and I’m glad I came across this one! I was searching for fresh yam for awhile and they’ve got plenty in stock. This is the spot.

drove from santa monica to ths market, after seeing it from other Unilocalers. Not bad at all of a market. Quite small to what im used to, but sure do have what I was looking for. Highly recommend.

Great little place with goods for making Ghanaian and other West African foods, as well as Jamaican food. Owner is really friendly. Mostly dry and canned goods, but he has real African Yams and plantains, frozen goat and mutton, cassava leaves, egusi, yam and cassava flour, boxed fufu mix, etc.

When my lovely wife gets homesick for her native Brasilan cuisine I have no choice but to drive to LA and stock up on palm oil and ground yucca. This is the only place we have found that carries palm oil and farina. Two major staples in the diet of a Bahiana(Salvador da Bahia, Brasil). Now I can make her favorite dishes from back home like moquecca de peche, Bobo de camarao and XingXing de galinha. Its so much cheaper than a plane ticket home.

If you are an African or have lived or ate authentic African meals… you will absolutley love this store. Tucked away and pretty much unassuming, you can find your palm oil, palm wine, fufu, pounded yam, ribena, accara, keinkeh… the list goes on and on… did i mention Milo and Nido :)
