Anthony J. Milanez, DDS

I just moved to L.A. from Birmingham Alabama, and have had LOTS of dental work in the past. I have poor genetics, but great dental hygiene! Upon my first arrival, the office is super tidy, and clean– and always love new magazines (silly i know).
I filled out my insurance form and health history information. I then went back to get a full set of X-​rays. The technician was very kind and gentle. Dr. Milanez reviewed my x-​rays and asked me in depth about my dental history– what work I have gotten in the past, where my problems lie. He then fully examined my teeth, and found one small cavity that needed to be filled, and talked about my teeth hygiene, and other periodontal options. He was just great!
The the cleaning began, the hygienist, was so thorough, and very gentile– normally i am so stressed and anticipating a metal poke or floss to make my gums bleed– apparently I just had a careless or quick dentist team before. The hygienist also talked with me about any issues I had, or questions with brushing/​fluoride/​flossing — again he was VERY thorough and gentle.
I have nothing but good things to say about this office!
Hopefully won’t have to get any more in depth– work done in the future– but will update when/​if I do.

Dr. Milanez definitely does quality work. Although I changed dentists about five years ago, the services that I received from Dr. Milanez were instrumental in helping me to maintain healthy teeth and gums in adulthood.

Went to a new dentist. He ran a series of bite tests to determine the actual case of my pain, something Milanez did not do, and confirmed which tooth was sore and solved the problem. Do NOT go to Anthony Milanez! What a joke! Paid for a filling for no reason and still had my sore tooth to show for it.

What a doctor and what a staff! I’ve been going to Dr. Milanez for over fifteen years now and
I’ve never been more satisfied with my smile. Rita’s great too. She’s always cheery, helpful and such the greeter when you walk into the office. I’ve had many a problem with my teeth but thanks to Dr, Milanez and his art of the tooth, my teeth get quite the compliment. Now if I only don’t get punched in the mouth! Jack

Dr. Milanez and his 5 star team together run excellent company. I have been here at least 5X the last year and Dr. Milanez is very consistent. I have to say from the very first moment I walked in the door to my most recent appointment Rita the front desk receptionist is the best receptionist I have ever come across. She does her job extremely well. Hands down the best service I have ever received. When she says she is going to do something she does it. If she says she’ll call you, she will, if she says she will try to get you before a certain day, she will. She is very reliable!
All together an amazing caring staff! A good dentist is hard to find, but look no more you’ve found one!

I was happy with their work very friendly and close to where I used to live so I kept them, even after they had performed a cleaning without checking my insurance first and that caused me to pay for the full service, I switched jobs so when they contacted me for my cleaning I toldt them they need to check my insirance first because, I was not about to pay out of my pocket again all because they don’t bother to make a call to your insurance before rendering the work and make you responsible to pay the full amount, well it happened again. I now discovered I had to pay out of my own pocket because they cannot make a call to the insurance company before asking you to come in for your scheduled cleaning.

I’ve had a decent experience here. My teeth feel good when I leave and any work he’s done has been done well. I think you do need to clarify things with the front desk staff a bit — make sure you know what you’re covered for and what your portion is before you do anything. Overall, good pick.

I just walked out of this appointment, and it was, by far, the most enjoyable, and gentle dental experience I’ve ever had. The entire staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.
Rita, the receptionist, was so nice, and very helpful getting me two back to back appointments. She also called to let me know when they had cancellations so I could move up my appointment if I chose.
Tiffany, the dental assistant, did my X-​rays. She was very sweet, and friendly. She did everything to make sure I wasn’t uncomfortable, and to make it take as little time as possible.
Armen, my dental hygienist, was the most gentle hygienist I’ve ever had in my life. He was very nice, checking in with my through out the cleaning to make sure I was comfortable. He also avoided asking questions while he was working, which I really appreciated. It’s always so hard to try to answer questions while there are two hands and two metal sticks in your mouth! And he was very friendly, and I afterwards I felt completely clean without any of the normal soreness or pain that can accompany dental cleanings.
Finally, Dr. Milanez was very friendly and helpful. He was clear, and gave me honest information and advice without trying to up-​sell me on expensive or invasive procedures that would be clearly overkill.
I am thrilled with my entire experience.

I’ve had more terrible dental work than I can count. I found Dr. Milanez though my insurance site and figured since he was so close to my apartment it was worth a shot. I’ve never had a more enjoyable experience with a dentist. The office is convenient and clean. The hygienists are efficient and friendly, and Dr. Milanez is very friendly and does great work. I’ve felt very comfortable in his care. Rita at the desk is happy to go over pricing and insurance with you. They’re very accommodating and easy to work with.
He can book up fast, so it may be difficult to get an appointment sometimes but Rita will ALWAYS call you if there’s a cancellation and they can squeeze you in. If you hate dentists and have had bad experiences in the past, give Dr. Milanez a try.

I don’t normally write reviews but because I used Unilocal to find Dr. Milanez I figured my experience can benefit others.
I had my first appt. with Dr. Milanez this past week and the whole experience was great. From scheduling an appointment to checking in to the dental assistant and finally Dr. Milanez.
I’ve had a lot of work done in the past and my fear with dentists is that they will recommend treatment that isn’t always necessary. Not the case this time, Dr. Milanez said everything looked great and gave me an excellent teeth cleaning. He was so gentle and patient with the procedure.
I’m very happy with my selection.

The Dr. is fine, he’s not bad, I don’t really have an impression of him since I only came once or twice. My gripe is about the people and how they handle the benefits/​insurance and billing.
When I came in for work I specifically asked for only work done covered under my dental plan. I had a new plan, I asked for their aid in helping me utilize the plan. I paid my bill in full that day, and expected no other bills to come because we had discussed the work and what was covered with the clerk there. Shocker, I get a bill some odd month’s later. I call, it’s not a huge bill but I’m confused why it exists in the first place. They don’t give me much of an explanation. The kicker: it goes into collections seems like just a couple weeks after that phone call. I don’t even have a chance to get a round to it and only discover it when I get my annual credit report. The collections never even try contacting me to get the payment, which is really frustrating, and NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE or call back when you leave messages so you can’t even try and take care of a bill that shouldn’t have ever happened.
After the good dozen of dentists I’ve been too (from moving around) this is the FIRST time this has ever happened. Just beware.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Milanez since 2007, he was recommended to me by colleagues at the time, and I’ve been incredibly impressed ever since.
Rita, at the front desk is always friendly, helpful, and she seems like she makes an effort to really get to know me — even though we only talk twice a year!
Dr. Milanez has always had good dental hygienists, but Armen who I saw today, was fantastic. He was friendly, engaging and I felt like I got a thorough cleaning, without the sore mouth I’ve had leaving other dentists in the past.
Dr. Milanez has personally always provided me with intelligent, informed, and pertinent information. He’s intuitive and seems to always ask the questions that get right to the problem.
I could recommend no dentist — or his staff — more highly than I’d recommend Dr. Milanez and his team.

Dr. Milanez has been my dentist for many years and has always done excellent work. He is an imaginative problem-​solver; he came up with novel approaches to some of my challenging dental crises that significantly improved the cosmetic appearance of my teeth. A huge difference, and so appreciated.
The office staff are great, and I have found all including Dr. Milanez extremely friendly and personable. They have a handsome, super-​clean office and state-​of-​the-​art equipment and procedures. I highly recommend Dr. Milanez!

Dr Milanez has been my dentist since I moved to LA 3 years ago. He and his office have been extremely professional and accommodating. The Dr is very good, honest and candid with his recommendations, and does a great job with the work he has done. (unfortunately for me, I have had to have a lot of work done in the 3 years!) Rita, who works in the office is also outstanding, very professional and great with all billing questions, issues, follow up, etc. I am leaving LA and hope to find a dentist that I liked as much as Dr Milanez.

I’m not sure how unethical (or legal, though i should definitely investigate) it is to leave a patient unattended for over three weeks, waiting for an insurance claim to be processed before starting a procedure. i do, however, know that it is an easy way to make a patient dissatisfied enough to leave a negative review on Unilocal,and to recommend people go elsewhere for their dental needs.
i had scheduled a check up, but came in with a slightly more pressing need when a crown had popped out the night before. I figured they would fix it right away, though i wasn’t disgruntled when they didn’t. After all, i had scheduled only a check up, and after seeing this office was only a three man operation, i figured i would need to schedule more time at a later date so they can see their other patients as promptly as they had seen me. i wasn’t even disgruntled when another crown mysteriously popped out during my check up («It fell right out when we washed your teeth!») or when their next available appointment was two weeks out and i had to wait all that time with temporary fills in my mouth. It wasnt even the slightly too aggressive (but admittedly VERY nice) X Ray technician hurting my mouth that caused my dissatisfaction.
it was the call the day before my follow up, saying they had to cancel my appointment because the insurance claim hadn’t been settled, and they basically would not work on my teeth until that came in. No option to work on my teeth, then wait for the insurance claim to come in/​have me pay upfront and then reimbursed for the work etc. was offered. simply, they would not work on me until the claim had come back. i already thought it weird that it would take so long for the insurance people to step in (at previous places they were at worst case scenario a phone call away) or that they kept on mentioning how expensive things could be during my visit. But to have them waiting for almost a month for work that could have been done in one afternoon is preposterous.
i for one will be going back to a dentist that cares more about their patients to actually treat them, instead of waiting for insurance companies to parcel out their rations before electing to do any work. nice people though.

As someone who despises going to the dentist, I must say that Dr. Milanez is awesome. I found him here on Unilocal and am extremely excited about it. I had 3 cavities filled yesterday and I never felt one ounce of pain or discomfort, and the process only took an hour from the moment I walked into the office.

After several years in L.A. I FINALLY found a dentist I like. While I never am a fan of going to the dentist, Dr. Milanez and his staff are superb. The only downsides are that they do not validate for parking, so I stop by a food place in the plaza to get validation after my appointments. The other downside is there can be a long wait to get an appointment date as he is VERY busy, but that’s expected with an exceptional dentist. Oftentimes people cancel and their receptionists, especially Gerard, are very good about contacting me to see if I want a sooner appointment date when someone cancels.

Dr. Milanez is the best dentist I’ve ever had. He’s professional, efficient and thorough while working. He does a great job in his cleanings and my teeth feel fantastic afterwards. He’s also the first dentist to have gotten me to floss daily!
Rita and Gerard are fabulous as well. They are so friendly and efficient. Every time I’ve been there has been a great experience (and that’s hard to say about a dentists office).

I’ve been coming here for 7 years and not one single complaint! Everyone here is amazing!

For as much dental work I’ve had done, I don’t think I’ve ever really liked a dentist, but after my first visit, I really like Dr. Milanez and the staff at his office.
Dr. Milanez is extremely nice and very thorough. He has a calm demeanor and explains every step so you are always clear as to what he’s doing.
Overall great experience from check-​in to check-​out. Highly recommended.
