Barrington Recreation Center

I’m disappointed that the grass and landscaping is so poor considering all of the sunny days we have. Ground moles have torn up the baseball field and a majority of the rest of landscaping. The facility isn’t clean either. Certainly not what you would expect given that it’s in Brentwood.

Good, clean, facilities for softball, basketball, tennis, or just running around with the kids & dogs. The bathrooms are surprisingly usable for a public park, and the only complaint, really, is parking — there are a dozen spots, and they fill up fast. Good luck parking on Barrington and walking. Cute park, fun park, take the family and enjoy a couple hours.

Tennis courts are always full with no organization or sign up sheets. People are rude and will not follow the honor code. Clinics are held sporadically and take up most of the courts. Basketball rims and backboards need to all be replaced, and I can’t speak for the softball field as it doesn’t look like it has been up kept very well. I hope they improve everything for the neighborhood sake and add some pull up bars and other equipment so that adults can exercise there.

Not a bad park, has a decent shaded kids area and the gym (although small) is air conditioned (better for kids). The baseball field and tennis courts are nice and the lot is decent, but on the smaller side.
Traffic can be a bit scary coming into or leaving the lot during busy time so be careful. Also, I’m comparing this to Santa Monica parks and it just doesn’t have the same standard although Brentwood is a very nice city.

Love the free tennis courts, but it’s SUPER annoying that tennis pros go set up camp on a court and teach lessons for over 3 hours! It would be great if someone would actually monitor that.

This review is for the newly renovated playground. It’s really small but adorable and shaded in many areas. The parking is very limited, but fairly quiet in the afternoon. If you are looking for a park & in the Brentwood area, give this place a try. It’s located behind the tennis courts & next to basketball court. Easy to miss driving by on Barrington.

Tennis courts, outdoor basketball court, baseball field and playground for the kids.
I spent many hours of my childhood playing here whether it be on the swings or in the various tennis classes they offer.
Be prepared to wait if you stop by to play tennis during the weekend.

SOFTBALL Review: ok, me being a somewhat softball whore (meaning I play ALOT). This is my 2^nd season playing here and must say this field SUCKS!!! I’m a pitcher and infield is the worst infield EVER!!! I play at parks in the HOOD and they had better infields. And my outfielders say this is the WORST outfield ever. Gopher holes all over (ankle breakers)…due to all those problems, this is my last season playing there.
Reason for the 2 stars…1 star for the nice dog park right next to fields…1 star for easy parking = 2 stars.

There is always someone using the facilities whether tennis, basketball, softball — Calvin, my dog, loves the front lawn. Nice to have this in the neighborhood.

This is in response to Greg D’s review. The tax payers had nothing to do with the basketball court renovation. A wonderful dad apparently took charge of sending letters and collecting donations from some of us who’ve sent our children for camps etc. The old basketball court place looked horrible. With that Dad’s initiative, a much more decent and nicer basketball court has been reborn. Awesome!

I play basketball here every once in a while. They did a pretty nice renovation to the outdoor courts. The rims here are really nice now. They used to be horrible double rims, now they’re almost indoor court quality. They painted the court blue and made all the lines distinct. They also added metal bleachers. You can find full court pickup games around 6pm M-​F.
Got to thank the Brentwood City taxpayers for the pristine renovations!

This is not the dog park!
Here’s what happened: In Aug. 2008, I posted a review & photos for Barrington Rec Center, which is across the street from Barrington Dog Park.
I guess people started posting their reviews for the dog park to the rec center listing, and eventually the name of the listing was changed to Barrington Dog Park… and now my review & photos make no sense. So I will remove my review & photos from the dog park listing and re-​post ‘em. Here is the original review, from ⁸⁄₀₈:
«I have stopped at this park many times to use their potty. Haha, I often travel long distances on Sunset ’cause I don’t do freeways, & Barrington Rec Center is just off Sunset. And we all know it’s damn difficult to find a public restroom in LA, other than parks & libraries. I know all the parks & libraries for this reason! Now you know!

Anyways, this park has much more to offer than its tiny ladies room… and dang it is tiny, room for only one person at a time & still a squeeze.
There are tennis courts, always in use, very popular.
There’s a kiddie playground surrounded by a large grassy area.
There’s a basketball court outdoors, and another inside the gym.
There’s a lighted ball field, softball only.
There’s a parking lot, not large, but I always find a space.
