My husband and I are seekers of amazing food. We stopped randomly because my pregnant self was craving greasy shredded beef tacos and carne asada fries. Found this place on our way home from Orange County. Totally hit the spot. Perfect amount of grease to taco ratio. So good it’ll make you wanna slap yo’ momma.

Carne asada fries are good, especially since they switched to the thinner fries. Before, they had the steak fries. The carne asada burrito is good too. Parking can be tough during the day, but there’s meter parking right in front. It’s a small joint; not much seating area. It’s best for carryout orders. And it’s open late.

No thrills, glitz, or glamour. And this is the exact reason why Benito’s is getting a high rating from me. It’s basically a hole in the wall or more like a shack by itself. I have been coming here since my undergraduate days. Now, I’m 30 so you do the math on how long I have been coming here. You get exactly what you need and nothing else. The food is tasty, the prices are reasonable, the staff is nice and respectable and the service is fast. Pretty simple menu but my go-to’s include the Chorizo burrito, Carne Asada burrito or plate, and the Chicken quesadilla. Benito’s stays open pretty late: open until 3am Fri and Sat and until 1am all of the other days of the week. They take both cash or credit. There are several parking spaces to the east side of Benito’s. However, there are plenty of street parking spots.

Open late and yummy! I definitely recommend coming here for a late night mexican food run. Came here for my first time and had a great first impression. I got their chicken burrito which was generously stuffed with chicken, beans, rice and came with a side of chips. On a side note, beware of the red salsa, its pretty spicy!

If you’re yearning for that true hole-in-the-wall San Diego style Mexican food joint where the carne asada actually has onions and lots of other«stuff» in it and the rolled tacos are not called taquitos then this my friends is your kind of place. Add in the spicy carrots, hot sauce so hot my eyes were tearing, and the Mexican music playing in the less than modern looking kitchen, and you have a winner all around!

The burrito i had was just normal and it was not worth thet price. Now you get food for your buqck but the taste is what to me was not worth the money.

Customer service was great. The burritos were decent, nothing spectacular or disgusting. The meat and rice/bean proportion is fair. The burritos are filled with the meat of your choice, rice/beans, Pico de gallo, and guacamole. The wet burritos only come with red sauce. One of my friend’s got the rolled up tacos and was completely disappointed with them. She felt that it was more of a fried rolled up flour tortilla since the shredded portion of the meat was almost invisible in taste and well as in sight.

Rated B for Bueno id rather go to a taco truck! The rolled tacos were not so good. The meat was so dehydrated in it, but they do hook it up with the cheese and guac. The burrito was huge and taste ok but nothing special. My man says the fries are pretty close to San Diego carne fries… But I don’t think I’ll be a frequent customer!

One of my favorite burrito joints. I usually go to the location on Beverly and Fairfax, but this is the same food. Fantastic Chicken burrito with tons of freshly cooked chicken(not weird little chopped up pieces, big hunks of chicken), rice and beans. So simple, so delicious, so CHEAP! $ 5 for a burrito. MUCH better going here instead of chipotle.

So good! I had only eaten here late night after many drinks, but it holds it own on sober visits, too! Not a lot of variation on the menu but every item I’ve had is great. It’s open late so no excuse to go Taco Bell

Compared to San Diego, the Mexican food in LA is pretty subpar. Not saying it’s bad, just nowhere near San Diego’s level. That being said, this place is my kind of Mexican joint. Small, hole in the wall, California burritos on the menu. I’m here a least once a week, order the California, get sour cream on the side, perfect combo. Call ahead, and they’ll have it ready by the time you’re there.

I ordered a borito, took a bit and dumped it in the trash. Looked disgusting, tasted disgusting. I’m not a sensitive guy and ate some gross stuff in my life but after that bite I felt that I would have a problem later if I’ll finish the borito.

Don’t even bother coming here unless you’re totally plastered drunk and can barely scrape yourself off the sidewalk. The food is NOTGOODATALL. It is something to put in your gut to cut down on the hangover you know you’re going to end up with no matter what. The only redeeming quality here is that the food come quick and it seems edible and without any sort of funky flavor. I’m assuming they do a lot of business, especially at 3AM on Friday and Saturday nights, because the ingredients seemed fresh. In short, if you must, make sure you put down some liquor first.

The good, Bad… and ugly: fire when ready Good, been here a few times in the afternoon traffic and stopped in to grab a quick bite. Easy menu, and LOVE taquitos and guac and cheese. The Bad, they have a «B» rating posted… I remember when these first came out to CA and everyone wanted an «A» rating. Saw some flies around my food, not cool bruh, not cool. The Ugly: first time here was on point, second time was just eh… could be better and my most recent time was… WTF did they just serve me? Food tasted eh… just OK. Not impressed as my first visit. I think I’d only come here if I was in desperate taco urge mode and stuck in Santa Monica with no other option and Unilocal is not working. Hope this place improves back to the way I first remember.

Almost every time I come in here, I’ve been drinking like middle-aged divorcee. Just a drunken slur of a human, but the food brings me right back to where I need to be — on my couch, shoving melted cheese and steamy meat into my gaping maw. I have actually been to Benito’s so drunk that I didn’t know I went there until I found the remains on my coffee table the next morning. I cried, not because my life is in shambles, but because I couldn’t recall the heavenly experience that I had the night before. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu, but my go-to is the cheese quesadilla and the carne asada tacos. I can’t begin to explain the quesadillas. Just slather it in Benito’s red sauce and tear into it. Half the time I’m hunched over it, a shirtless, sweaty gargoyle, but it’s the consequence of such a delightful meal. The tacos are perfectly filled with meat, pico de gallo, and guacamole. Like YEAH gimme that taco all day every day. It’s gonna make a mess so either get some paper towels or a dog to clean up after yourself. I’ve even gone here sober and it’s still good. It’s not exactly authentic Mexican food, but it’s certainly not Taco Bell. If you’re gonna spend the next morning on the toilet, it may as well be worth it.

I challenge anyone to eat the carnitas burrito and not give this place 4+ stars. The flavor is delicious and the meat is well cooked with appropriate tenderness. Benito’s is classic and we are lucky to have this humble taco shop in West LA.

Let me preface this review by saying that I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve eaten at Benito’s before midnight. After midnight though? I’ve lost count. This place gets packed once the bars start closing and for a good reason: cheap, quick Mexican food at a taco shop that’s open until 3am on the weekends. That’s hard to come by on the Westside! I’ve actually liked almost everything I’ve tried here and I’ve had most of the menu at this point. My favorites are the Rolled Tacos(topped with guacamole and cheese), California Burrito(which is already filled with carne asada, fries, sour cream, and cheese… add guacamole), Carne Asada Fries, and Super Nachos. The only thing I’ve been disappointed by are the Breakfast Burritos – they’re just ehh. If I’m really craving a Breakfast Burrito, I go with the Potato one(which is rare because I generally love meat in everything ever) but it’s so much less greasy than their chorizo and machaca. Most importantly, don’t forget to load up on their salsas while you’re here too; both the red and green salsas are spicy and have great flavor. I basically douse everything I get in them! As far as late night taco shops go, Benito’s is one of the best. It’s definitely worth making the pit stop or stumbling over on the weekends.

Very good quality at great prices. My staples are the carne asada or carnita taco. Picture a soft taco stuffed with meat, pico de gallo and guacamole. Yummy and filling. The chicken taco only comes with lettuce and cheese. All are under $ 4. Their quesadillas are too oily for me. They have pickled carrots, onions and jalapeño peppers you can take home(I like the mild green sauce, too). I feel better if I add some carrots to my meal They open til 3 am on weekends, til 1 am Sun-Thu for your late night cravings. Service is fast and it’s a clean place to eat. If you’re in the area, try the carne asada taco!

You gotta love a place that stays open late, even on week nights! I ordered the vege burrito and the portion was pretty big! It comes with a side of freshly baked chips. Vegetarians can note that the beans do not have lard in them. Also stock up on the green and red salsa, green being a little more spicier, it’ll help bring a kick to your meal. Overall the burrito was good and the price pretty reasonable. We took our order to go but if you wanted to sit inside there is some seating.
