History

Established in 1996.

The original BlackJack store, established in 1996, is located at the corner of Melrose Avenue and Martel and is frequently visited by many long time clients continuously asking for Jonathan’s personal stylistic approach and attention to details. Many say he just always seemed to know a way to put pieces together that make a statement while still fitting someone’s personality.

Growing up with both parents in the fashion industry, Jonathan

Benshalom discovered early on his eye for unique, flattering, and functional clothing, and a gift for finding just the right look to suit every clients desire to always standout in style.

At 14 years old Jonathan began working on weekends at his older brothers store and quickly became the «ONE TO WATCH». Clients would want the stylish kid’s advice on everything. Outfits for events, premiers, and long self-​life pieces became his favorites to show and always kept clients wanting more. By age 18 Jonathan saved up enough to open his first store.

I’ve been living next door to the Highland Center for a year a rarely shop at the mall due to lack of stores with good clothing. I was in the mall shopping for makeup at Sephora when I spotted BlackJack & Im so glad I did!!! Seriously AMAZING clothing, high quality boutique styles without the hefty prices! I was able to get a belt, and 3 very high quality dresses for $ 220! SUCH A STEAL… Also they have great customer service. The cashier was super helpful & although she forgot to put my belt in the bag after charging me for it, they were able to hold it for me for over 7 days while on vacation! Really impressed with them. They don’t pressure you or bug you too much when your shopping either which is something I usually don’t like about boutiques. Im so excited that I have a place to shop near home now!

Seriously in LOVE!
So happy I found this little gem! The clothes are amazing and amazingly affordable! I had to stop myself from buying up the whole store, but I’ll be back for more! Great clothing options, everything for a day at the office and a night at the bar.
I adore the jewelry and belts too. Super blingy, think Vegas hotel shop meets H&M. The guys stuff is a little douchy, but the women’s stuff is awesome:)
I was contemplating writing a review for this place because I don’t want to let my little secret out! But it’s too gorgeous to keep it to myself. Highly recommend!

Can’t believe I’ve never noticed this place before. I notice the beautiful dresses on there window display and couldn’t resist from going in. The moment I walked in the guy (can’t remember his name :() was so helpful and attentive, not pushy tho. He selected beautiful pieces for me to try on and Styled every outfit perfectly with accessories, jackets etc. Definitely coming back. Prices are reasonable and quality isn’t that bad. Only downfall wish there were more Mirrors as I really didn’t like having to share one mirror.

I fell in love with this place as soon as I walked through the door. The sales girls were very friendly and there for fashion advice. I walked in just planning on looking around but ended up with a new pair of jeans, a new button up casual style shirt, and a new lamb skin leather jacket. I like to call them my LA threads and I have yet to find better clothing here in St. Louis. The sales girls weren’t pushy but instead gave advice on what looked good on me and what did not. They even advised me away from a couple items that were even more expensive just because they didn’t look good on me.
Very knowledgeable staff, great atmosphere, clothing that lasts (this is key), and the clothing still looks great even 2 years after buying it. I highly recommend this place if you are needing a good new set of clothes.

I wasn’t planning on originally doing anymore shopping as this was our final night in LA before driving back, however, I really thought the clothing inside looked very unique and a little classy even from all the other stores I’ve seen around.
The retail associates were very helpful and attentive, trying to create a unique outfit for me and showing me other articles of clothing they thought might look good or fit my style. The prices are relatively inexpensive so I ended up buying a cute mint wrap dress with long sleeves and a blush belt with rinstones to go with for under $ 100.
The only thing I didn’t enjoy were that the fitting rooms lacked mirrors and sometimes, you don’t want to have to step outside and show everyone what you’re wearing, before you’ve gotten to see and approve it yourself. Aside from that little bit of discomofrt, I would definetly come back here whenever I’m back in town.

It was because of his sales style (low key, helpful, good suggestions) that we became engaged and found a couple of really cool items. We enjoyed meeting him and exploring this store.

There was a dress that my friend had that I LOVED. I asked her where she got it and she said she got it from Black Jack so I ordered it over the phone. The employee there was super helpful and she even texted me a picture of it to make sure that I got the right one. She sent it via USPS that day and I received it the next day! Unfortunately, the dress was too small and I needed to exchange it with a different size. I live in Orange County so it took me two weeks to be able to find time to get up to LA. I went this past weekend and talked to a different employee. She said that because they have a 7 day exchange policy, she wouldn’t be able to do anything for me. I explained to her that it’s not because I didn’t want that dress anymore, it was just because I couldn’t fit into it. They still had that dress in 4 different colors so it wasn’t like it was already rotated out. It took me a while for me to convince her to let me exchange it for a different size so we walked around to see if they had my size. Unfortunately, they didn’t have my size so I asked if I can just get a different dress since again, they still had that dress in 4 different colors in the store! She said that she couldn’t do it and was pretty aggressive about it. It just didn’t make sense because whether I exchanged it for the same dress or a different one, they would have still ended up having the dress that I had back in their inventory! Anyways, I just didn’t appreciate the customer service or the lack thereof. I’ve worked closely with customer service for 10 years and I know that if it makes sense, it really doesn’t matter if you grant what the customer wants even if he/​she is not within a 7 day policy. She kept saying that the owners would get mad at her and if that is really the case, the owners have got something wrong, too. In either case, I definitely won’t be going back here. Ever.

This place has cute, fashionable clothes and accessories at an affordable price, but don’t expect it to be high quality. It’s a bit better than Forever21 and you don’t have to do much digging.
I especially liked the belt section. All belts were really cheap, yet stylish.
All in all good finds!
And the service was pretty good.

I was visting from Toronto, Canada in December and this was my first visit to Hollywood. My mom went in first and then came running out to drag me in. I could not believe the prices. You could never find stuff like this for less than $ 100 in Toronto. I picked some outfits out and the salesperson took them from me and put them in the dressing room. What I didn’t know is that she put some pieces in there that she thought would look great with the outfit. I was so happy she did because I loved what she picked out. I spent over $ 300 in less than $ 20 minutes and it was worth every penny. I will be back the next time I come to LA!

The clothes were cute and trendy, prices not bad, sales people nice, but no mirrors in the dressing room. Everyone’s different, some people don’t mind stepping out in front of everyone but some people do. I would have purchased more if there were some mirrors allowing me to see how I look!

This place is bad a$$$. It’s not cheap but I get my wardrobe for the entire year when I come. They are extremely helpful assisting you in finding what you want. I try on at least 30 shirts and 10 pair of pants. I drop a couple G’s everytime but get compliments «every single time» I wear an item i purchased from Black Jack. If you want the latest trends before they become «main stream’ and have some coin, this is the place for you.

WOW!!! I live in Orange County and drove to Hollywood with my boyfriend yesterday to shop the Blvd. I was reluctant to even walk into the mall because I did not want to pay the «mall prices». I stumbled across Blackjack and ended up staying there for almost 3 hours! I tried on DOZENS of dresses, cute tops, shoes, and accessories!!! Bethany and Nat (the adorable to girls working there) were AMAZING!!! They helped me every step of the way but they weren’t pushy at all! They made me feel comfortable and they helped me accessorize my outfits! We ended up buying 2 dress shirts for my BF and TEN dresses for me and got out of there for around 800.00. I could not believe that these HOT dresses were only $ 30.00 to 80.00! That would be UNHEARD of in Orange County! I have enough dresses for ALL of my events and trips this summer and I will DEF be back! This place is a ONE STOP SHOP for girls and guys who like to dress sexy and hot; but NOT trashy! Very classy and sexy looks for girls and HOT yet sophisticated looks for men! THUMBS up! Thank you SO much! ALL my OC friends will be going there!!! XOXOXOXOXO ~ Jesse

What a great find, and in downtown Hollywood at that. My friend and I stumbled into this store today and came out with some hot dresses at very reasonable prices. I got two dresses and a belt for a little over $ 130 when one dress goes for more than that at Bebe. The quality is good and it doesn’t look cheap.
Natalie helped me and was so nice! She guided me to some dresses I wouldn’t have tried on and helped me with the belt. She was so sweet and was not pressuring me into any purchases. I loved her!

I purchased six dresses online, and received an email confirming my order. Two days after placing the order, I had not received a notice of shipment, so I emailed customer service about the order status. No response. The next day, I call and speak to an employee, who informs me that they are canceling my order and that there is no chance that I will receive the dresses. No intention of ever contacting me about the order or explaining why they listed the items as available for pre-​order online in a size small when they did not have the items available.
After being told by that employee that the I needed to talk to the online manager and that she was unavailable at that time, I attempted to email again. No response. The employee that I talked to on the phone promised that the online manager would return my call and email by the end of the day. No email and no call.
Terrible customer service! Should not be posting items online for sale if they are not going to be ordering any more and have already depleted their inventory in the stores. At the very least, should actually contact customers about canceling their orders. And return emails/​calls!
There are too many other great online boutiques to buy from one with no regard for customers. I thought I would give this place a try, but obviously that was a mistake!
Oh, and they went ahead and charged my credit card. Not ok when you don’t have the items and have no intention of having them to ship to me!

This store has a wide range of great clothing. If your into more flashy stuff with embellishments– they got it. If you prefer simple classy stuff– they got that too. I live a bit far, but i make excuses to go out that way to visit this store. there are many items I can’t find anywhere else!
The sales person was also very attentive and gave great suggestions. I usually am either ignored or assaulted at other boutiques, but felt very comfortable here.

I liked this store. At first glance, it didn’t seem to be my style. Some of it is a bit clubby/​gaudy. I’m not really into True Religion type stuff, and lots of embellishment. But after I browsed the racks a little bit, they had a lot of really nice dresses.
I purchased 2 dresses and the total was $ 100. So pretty decent. The sales assistant brought me a pair of shoes to try with the dress, which really helped give a finished look. I will definitely be going back. The service was good and they were friendly.

Oh my god… where was this place before I charged up my credit cards to the max on overpriced, high end clothes? Seriously, I don’t shop anywhere else now. I’m a model and actress and I have to keep up with the fashions for red carpet events and such. This place has amazing clothes that fit perfectly without breaking your bank. I always get compliments on everything I wear that I have bought at Blackjack Clothing. It’s gotten to the point where I carry around their cards because so many people ask me where I got this or that. I’m done buying D&G! It’s all about Blackjack Clothing now.

I am kind of a difficult customer when it comes to clothes shopping. I expect sales people to provide assistance when needed, but allow me to browse without interruption. I also think it makes a good impression on the customer when the sales staff actually has a clue regarding the products being sold in their place of employment (imagine that!!).
At BlackJack, I found all of the above, along with a wide variety of cute clothes AND reasonable prices. In other words — SCORE!!!
On this particular trip, there were five of us picky chickies all searching for some super cool duds to wear to an evening networking event. Interestingly enough, we all have very different tastes when it comes to clothes and the BlackJack staff met this challenge head on. They fanned out across the store and were available instantly to answer questions, hold garments selected for the dressing rooms, and to provide direction on where we might find certain styles.
One thing I initially felt was a minus was the lack of mirrors in the dressing room. I mean, who doesn’t have a mirror where you can either gaze in horror (too many servings of Ben & Jerry) or admiration (dang, those hours of agony at the gym are finally paying off) in private? Well, what I found was that they prefer you to step outside where they (along with anyone else who happens to be nearby) can provide you with objective feedback. I have since decided that I like this approach.
In my case, I walked out in a sexy little black dress and immediately had one of the sales girls walk up with a pair of funky black high heels in her hand and say «8 and ½, right? Try these on with the dress so we can get the full effect». She was right on the money with the size and style. She also fussed around me, adjusting the tag, smoothing out the fabric and made me feel like she was MY personal assistant. What’s not to love about that?
