You’ve got to see this guy work a mandolin.(The vegetable slicer, not the musical instrument, though for all I know he can shred on one of those too.) Bomb Foods at the farmer’s market is one of my favorite things about living in Los Angeles. The salads are always colorful, delicious, beautiful. If it’s fresh and in season, it will be in there. The unexpected: persimmons, satsumas, butternut squash(thinly sliced). The novel: torpedo onions, lipstick peppers, candy cane beets, donut peaches. Okra. Plus delicious things like fennel, strawberries, cilantro, mint, basil. Healthy reliable kale, spinach, chard, bok choy. And it all works and comes together because of this guy’s talent, and his dressings. Please try the green pea dressing. Or the sunflower seed. The soups, mashed potatoes and everything are also all magically delicious. I’m not a huge fan of the juices so far, but the spritzers are reliably awesome. Basically, this guy is a genius. If you keep saying you want to eat more vegetables, there pretty much isn’t a better way.

Food visionaries making the best vegetarian fare in town. Salads, juices, smoothies, soups, fruit compotes, mashed potatoes, salad dressings made to order from produce bought at the farmer’s market that morning. Plus home-brewed kombucha! If you’re the type of person for whom salad is just a vehicle for fried chicken and mayonnaise, you might want tot skip this spot and just go to the Cheesecake Factory.
