Specialties
I am licensed both as a Marriage and Family Therapist and an Acupuncturist. I always integrate a body-mind-emotion approach to my work with you. Mental health requires that we be embodied; anchored in a nervous system that is both alert and relax. I use different therapeutic modalities and skills that seamlessly complement each other: Depth oriented psychotherapy, EMDR (trauma reprocessing), Voice Dialogue (getting to know and integrate all aspects of your personality), Trauma Resiliency (helping you be in touch with your nervous system-body), PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy), Dream Analysis (being curious and present to the messages your unconscious sends you), Acupuncture & Herbal Supplements (healing energy blocks and deficiencies).
The journey of self acceptance and healing requires our willingness to better understand and respect the complexity of who we are. When we acknowledge and actively process our painful past – which still influences and hinders our ability to thrive in the present – we are on the road of self actualization and genuine empowerment. True Power requires that we be in touch and honor both our strengths and vulnerabilities; that we be kind and compassionate towards the messiness of our humanity. Genuine power asks of us that we communicate better and respectfully, even when it is difficult and challenging.
I work with individuals and couples to create secure functioning relationships.
History
Established in 1983.
From 1983 to 1990 I owned an acupuncture practice in Quebec, Canada. In 1990 I came to Los Angeles to learn and integrate many different healing modalities (therapeutic massage, rolfing, hands on healing, energy work, etc.) and psycho-spiritual modalities (depth psychology, Voice Dialogue, Trauma Resiliency Model, EMDR – AIP, PACT, etc.).
In 2003, after three years of graduate school I obtained my Master’s degree (Suma Cum Laude), and California license in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. In 2005 I began a Master Degree in Depth psychology at Pacifica, in Santa Barbara. I obtain my Marriage and Family Therapist license from the Board of Behavioral Sciences in 2011.
As a trauma specialist, I am certified by EMDRIA as an EMDR therapist and by the Trauma Resiliency Institute as a TRI therapist. I am in my second year of training to become a Certified PACT (couple) therapist. I also teach Voice Dialogue to therapists.
