I hv a business and I have purchased a lot of alternators and starters. the prices are market compatible. I had a lot of come backs. and they fix it. but last time I had to pull the starter 4 times. and after they couldn’t fix it I purchased a starter of a diff company and fix the problem. almost lost my customer. I didn’t want the product no more. and they refuse to return the money. they preferred to loose me as a customer for life for $ 59.99. to me is the ultimate bad service. most people buy one starter or alternator. it was 40% return rate. I will never go back for the rest of my life. they selling the building and they don’t care who they screw up

Great company — they do quality work and stand by their warranty. I had the alternator for my Miata rewound to put out more amps. A couple months later I brought the alternator back in for testing while chasing down an electrical issue which turned out to be unrelated. They tested it the same day and even replaced the bearings under warranty because they were nosier than usual.

Amazing. Rebuilt my 1977 Harley Davidson Ironhead Gen and Starter. Look like new. So happy. Great shop

Went in to get a starter for my chevy astro van and they had it in stock and they had new starters too and the guys are super friendly. This business is very clean inside and well organized too and before I left they tested the starter I like that. Thanks guys for making your business very easy for me and your prices are the lowest in town.

I called C P Generator to see if they had an alternator for my car. The gentleman told me they had it in stock and how much it was going to be over the phone. I drove over to pick up and was given the option to purchase the life time warranty. I did purchase the extra warranty since I normally go through the dealer for everything but this time decided to go aftermarket since it was so much less. I have been very happy with the service from phone call to installation. I would definitely recommend C P Generators.

What a great family owned business! I needed an alternator for my 2009 Range Rover Sport and their price beat everyone’s by far. The family was so nice and helpful. You can get a 1 year warranty or take a lifetime warranty which is an awesome choice. I will definitely be back for all alternator and starter needs. Recommend this company 100%!

I waited 7 months to write this review because I bought a rebuilt alternator here and it lasted only 2 days and it clunked out. Having an alternator die on you is NOT a pleasant situation if you know anything about a dead alternator and being stuck on the street. When you have a dead alternator, you may even kill the battery because your car is draining the battery dry while driving without it being properly charged. With such good Unilocal reviews, I thought I take my alternator and get a rebuilt one (because a good rebuilt is as good as new). When I got the alternator, I was told that every one of their rebuilt unit is fully tested and ready to go, so with such great reviews and being told that «every one of the rebuilt unit is fully tested» on the spot, I left with a full confident of these guys.
What the problem here is expectation. I had full confidence in these guys because of all the good Unilocal reviews and being told that «all of our rebuilt units are fully tested and on the shelves ready to go». I surely don’t want to take out an alternator and to put one back in and then have to take it out again and put it in again, but that’s exactly what I ended up doing. Before anything, I was asked (of course the usual questions) did you tighten the belt correctly and did you reuse or put on a new belt. A good alternator can last a good 100k miles or more, of course a smart and wise person would take this time to put on a $ 15 new belt and torque the bolts correctly so one can forget about it for the next 10 possible year, right? Not to mention, I have a brand new Interstate battery just to make sure all electrical is functioning properly! After all the blah blahs, they took the unit back and retested, and sure enough, bad diods. At this moment, I am thinking to myself, what if they didn’t do any other tests and I have to put this one in and then have to take it out and come back again and put another one in… OMG. One year warranty or life time warranty, it means nothing if I have to keep coming back to replace one after another, right?
Since so far after 7 months the alternator is still working ok, I hope it won’t die on me after 1 year. I am giving 3 stars because at lease they did re test and put new diods. I wish they have REALLY fully tested their rebuilds before they put their rebuilt units on the shelves. Also I give them 3 stars because I think if and should I have had them just rebuilt my original unit, they would have done the FULL testing for sure to make sure its a working unit because I don’t think these guys will just rebuilt my unit without testing it before giving it to me. I personally think if you are not in a hurry hurry, have them rebuilt your unit is a safer bet then just buy it off the shelve. That’s just my 2 cents and opinion. I am also giving them 3 stars because I have many classic cars, and will go back to them and give them another chance to rebuilt my alternators and starters in the future. So, stay tuned Unilocalers. I will for sure give these guys another chance but I will have them rebuilt my original units for now on instead of buying them off the shelve. Sorry guys, 3 stars for now until later. Thank you.

Had to get a starter for my Honda and the price a mechanic quoted was over six hundred with labor. So happy I found CP Generators through my friend Google, although I’ve driven by many times and had not noticed it. The prices were the best for a lifetime warranty and the owners were so happy to help me. I’ve already referred more friends to this place. LA is fortunate to have this great family business!

I needed my alternator re-​re-​rebuilt for my 2007 honda fit. It kept dying 3 – 6 months after each other. I suspected that my stereo was killing it because my poor alternator could not keep up the charging.
After being rebuilt twice by another guy, I decided to take it to CP generator. They had done my starter so I trusted them with my alternator.
When I described my problem with the alternator always dying, they right off the bat told me that my alternator was not strong enough. Other shops told me that my alternator pushes out 70 amps, but CP told me that it is 70 amps MAX and is only 35 amps at idle. My stereo is pushing 150 amps. Now I know why it was dying!
So the guys at CP recommended that I rebuild it and make it high amp. Without hesitation, I said go right ahead!
Few hours later, I have a brand new high amp alternator! They even put a lightweight pulley on it to aid in cooling.
The family that runs CP generators are EXTREMELY knowledgeable and extremely friendly. Their amazing service, fast turn around time, and honesty behind their products have made me a customer for life!

this is one of those places that you hope never goes out of business. these guys are friendly, helpful, and sell a quality product. i have bought several alternators and starters over the years and have never had an issue. and their prices cant be beat.

This is a great «old school» place. I’ve been here many times to buy alternators and starters, have always received a quality product at a good price and with great service. The staff is knowledgable, patient, and willing to help any questions you may have. I always tell everyone I know that needs a starter or alternator to get their gear here instead of the big chain stores. I’ve bought Alt & Starters form all chain stores and from CP And by far I’d recommend CP. I’d say they’re at or above OEM product. Thanks for being here CP!

I have to admit that while I use Unilocal often, I’ve never taken the time to write a review — until now. This place is fantastic! I took an beat-​up alternator from a ’69 Datsun Roadster in to be rebuilt. In a few hours they made it look like a brand new part with all fresh inards — good for another 44 years!

Not just family owned… The family operates the business. Son and Daughter made me feel very comfortable and confident that they do quality rebuilds on alternators. Genuine people. (And not the type that uses crescent wrench for 9/16’s.)
And… BEST PRICE AROUND. $ 100 for e46 BMW m3. other shops were $ 125 – 150.

My first experience with CP Generators, while shopping for an alternator for a classic Mercedes.
What brought me in was the courtesy I received over the phone and the unbeatable price. To either rebuild or buy one of their rebuilt units was cheaper than some of the favorite (in the MB community) online retailers, plus I saved on shipping and return shipping of the core, got a better warranty, and got it same day. They offered to rebuild mine in 2 hours or sell one already built and cleaned for $ 97, which included a one year warranty, or for $ 130 including a lifetime warranty. The CP alternator was cheaper even with the lifetime warranty than from other local rebuilders I had spoken with and cheaper than the rebuilt units from the online resellers. CP was the most inexpensive and included a better warranty overall.
This place has been in the same space since it opened in 1962 and is owned and run by the same family.
I ultimately chose CP because of the polite treatment, price, warranty, and convenience, all which allowed me to support a longstanding, but most importantly a local small business.
