I will go out of my way to eat here. The food never disappoints, always have new items on the menu, affordable price for the amount of food you receive. I always have to get the MAC & CHEESE and the CAJUN SWEET CORN & YAMS. The FRIED CATFISH is flavorful, fresh and well seasoned. Always friendly service which is a plus and made to order. Two thumbs up!

These dumb phuks messed up my order, didn’t realize I got plain rice instead of the red beans rice and chicken sausage I ordered until I got back to work, they get an attitude because I ate the greens and returned Mac/​cheese dry looking muffin and plain rice, business owners train your employees so they don’t phuk up return business! Not too brilliant idiots working in there!

Since the temperature outside is above 90 degrees, I decided to chill inside the mall for a few hours. Of course after a while of window shopping, strolling and sightseeing I became hungry. I noticed a review for Café Creole so I decided to give them a try. I ordered the grilled shrimp Po Boy. The child who took my order needs a lesson in proper customer service and an attitude check. The shrimp was well seasoned and tasty but the sandwich as a whole was less than satisfactory. $ 11.98 wasted.

This is my 3^rd time in 2 weeks eating at this location. To say I enjoyed my meal is an understatement. All three times I ordered the Swai nuggets with canjun fries and all three times I loved it to the very last bone. The cashier was super friendly when I told him I’d like extra seasoning in my fish. Boy did they oblige! I got a chance to speak with one of the franchise partners. I was intruged when I heard him speaking French Creole to one of his employees. He was very nice and accommodating. Once I received my piping hot fish and fries I knew they have a repeat customer for life. I can’t say enough nice things about this place. CHECK THEM OUT FOR YOURSELF!

I visited for the 1^st time today. Not very good. The mac and cheese and greens were good, the catfish was ok. But the fried shrimp was over cooked and the red beans and rice was bland. The worst part… over baked peach cobbler. The crust was so overdone I had a hard time even putting a spoon through it. I didn’t even eat it.
But that may all have been because of the staff. At the time I was there, they were way more interested in hanging out. I was really hoping this place would be a great addition, but I felt like I wasted my money. Too bad.

The good here is so good! The cabbage is exceptional! Great customer service and great food!

Gave this place a try even after reading the bad reviews and I DO NOT regret it! I had a chicken po’boy and an individual order of Mac and cheese and it was super good. The chicken on the po’boy was delicious and flavorful… not to mention the Mac and cheese hit home. Despite the time I waited for my meal I was happy that it was worth the wait. I will definitely be back.

Soul Food in the mall, who would’ve thunk it? But alas, there is finaly a soul food place in a mall thats located in a predominately black neighborhood. (There used to be a fast food indian food place in its spot)
Its worth nothing that they serve $ 5.99 specials.
–My hubby ordered the Pulled Chicken Po’Boy from this menu and boy oh boy did it deliver. First off, they are very generous with their meat portions, the chicken was overflowing from the french bread and had collected in a small heap around the sandwitch. It came with thick cut pickles, peperoncino and a cajun sauce. Bomb!
I ordered the mac and cheese–
(they were kind enough to offer a sample before purchasing, I am very picky with my mac and cheese. Theres nothing like ordering mac and cheese and its nasty) It was very tasty and flavorful, while it could’ve had more cheese it was definitely VERY TASTY and I will definitely order it again with no hesitation.
Cabbage– Once again another delicious dish, super flavorful and perfectly cooked. (Better than my go to choice for soul food, Chef Marilyns)
Candied Yams– These were good made from fresh potatoes versus canned. Not better than Chef Marilyns but probably definitely healthier, they were not laden with sugar and butter as this dish usually is.
I’m definitely a fan of this place and will definitely return.

This place is the bomb! This is good food here. Just like home made but better cause you don’t have to cook it yourself. The food is well seasoned and generous plates. They give free samples during happy hour 4 –7pm to try with purchase for the next to order, also great specials during that time as well as specials all day. I have had catfish dinner, hot link special, pull chicken sandwich, the hamburger po boy chicken &waffles, cabbage n its all good here I got all of these items myself and I keep coming.

Just finished the vegetarian meal, greens, mac and cheese, dressing and yams. The portions were very small but the taste of the food just made me hungry for more. Love when the food taste like your grandmother’s kitchen, deserves a return visit

Got the Creole Mix Sandwich and it was FANTASTIC I give it 5Stars! I just so happen to notice the large sign out front and from the pics thought I would give it a try & I am glad i did, the sandwich had well cooked fried shrimp, cajun beef hot link and grilled chicken with lettuce & tomato with delicious bread! This is my new favorite spot and i plan on having everything on the menu. This place is located inside the food court in the mall & if you get a chance you have to try there food, you will not be disappointed *****

So excited about the new café creole location in the Baldwin hills Crenshaw! I thoroughly enjoy the poboy sandwiches-​the bread is soft and buttery and some amazing seasoning that must be a secret! The chicken in my poboy was tender and cooked well infused with flavor. the ambience and décor is wonderfully done-​bringing you to the doorstep of New Orleans. When you are in the area-​you must come through and grab yourself the taste of New Orleans! An experience to remember. I will be back!

Don’t eat the beef hot link sand which. The meat looks like it’s made from dog food! Yuck. The yams and the cabbage were amazing though! Next I’ll just get the sides
So I talked to Ken D the general manager. He said he took the beef link off the menu. I’m here at the bar with him. He thanked me. So I shall return for those amazing sides. And a shrimp po boy. He said try Bbq chicken dirty fries

Fish special had tasty fish, but it wasn’t crispy at all and the «Cajun» fries were totally limp and very bland. No sauce included (used my own dressing at home) and sliced pickles lying on the top to make it all more soggy. The bread included with the fish special was a waste. The red beans & rice was tasty as was the mac & cheese (cheese on top not edible & totally hard), but both are overpriced for the serving size — however — if I hadn’t gotten them, I would be hungry unless willing to re-​cook the fries. Cashier forgot to give me my drink included with the meal and when I politely requested it I was made to feel as though it was an inconvenience. It was 1pm, and although there were only 3 customers, the staff was flustered and the food took forever. Might try this food again, but would stay away from the fries… perhaps try a sandwich.

Compared to typical «mall food» this place is deserving of a full five stars. However, I’m just comparing it to food in general, and think four is appropriate. Still, four star food in a food court is pretty darn impressive in my opinion. Here is the run down:
— The mac and cheese is surprisingly good, and I’m picky out my mac and cheese. It could be cheesier, but I’m not complaining.
— The red snapper is well-​seasoned and worth buying.
— My sister enjoyed her po boy (shrimp sandwich).
— The cobbler will not win any awards, but it’s good enough to satisfy your craving.
Overall, this is a solid choice and I’ll likely return. Prices are reasonable.

This restaurant is a very welcome addition to the Crenshaw Mall neighborhood who still misses the Creole Chef. Café Creole makes a very good attempt at filling that void. The chicken Po Boy and the Shrimp Po Boys are both amazing. A lot of so called Cajun restaurants don’t understand that the foundation of a true Po Boy Sandwich is the bread. They nail it here. The Bread is awesome and it sets the tone for a pretty pretty good Po Boy.
The Bread Pudding is pretty good too. I went on an evening where they were giving it out for free with every order and I really enjoyed it. It was still warm from the oven and was not too sweet and soggy like some places. It was just right.

A bit after Saffron shut down, I saw signs for Café Creole and I was anticipating it for a while. I’m not well-​versed in Creole/​Cajun cuisine, but I’ve had a taste and I wanted more.
When it finally opened, I made a bee-​line straight for Café Creole. I ordered the grilled chicken basket with rice and was told it would be ready in 5 – 10 minutes. Of course, it being a new establishment I figured even if the food came out a little later, I would be patient with them.
10 minutes past. Understandable.
15 minutes past. The cashier asks what I ordered again. Chicken basket with rice.
20 minutes past. One of the guys in the back preparing food comes out and asks me what I ordered. The chicken basket with rice.
25 minutes past. The cashier asks me what I ordered again. At this point, I’m hungry and a bit annoyed. But in my head I figured it’s they’re first week, they just need some time to organize and compose themselves. I ordered the chicken basket with rice.
30 minutes later. I see a chicken po’boy on the counter. The cashier asks me what I ordered. The chicken basket with rice. I see the cashier panic, and run into the back to tell the cook. At this point, I’m tired of waiting so I tell them I’ll just take the po’boy.
The chicken was cooked too long so it was hard and dry. It really wasn’t very good, but I figured they were busy so I would try it in a couple weeks to see if it got any better.
2 – 3 weeks later, I decide to try my luck again. I order the hot link basket with rice.
10 minutes. Cashier asks me what I ordered. Hot link basket and rice.
20 minutes. Cashier asks again what I ordered. Hot link basket and rice.
25 minutes. The food comes out and I take it back to work. I open the box and lo and behold – a couple sparse cuts of hot links (like they got half a sausage and cut them into bits) cooked so long that they’ve turned black on the outside and crunchy all throughout. The rice is a little scoop of rice and all the food combined barely took up half the box.
Honestly, I am so disappointed in Café Creole. I want to like you guys, but I don’t feel like paying $ 8 to wait 30-​ish minutes for a small portion of overcooked food.

The food is good and fresh. I hope they can keep it up. Bread pudding nice and sweet and gooey. Will return

I ordered a Chicken Po’ Boy. It’s quite delicious, and the chicken is very tender. It has creole mayo and tomatos, bell pepper, lettuce, onions, and cilantro.
I believe this place will do well here in the mall. The menu is basic.

For the Po’ boy, you have a choice of Chicken, Hot link, Cat fish, Shrimp, Oyster, or aa mix.
What I like is that everything is prepared Made to order, Fresh, and the food is seasoned lightly and not loaded with additives.

The only Con or drawback, was that with most establishments, the Cashiers are young and inexperienced.
The Cashiers need additional training in pristine customer service.
Greeting patrons from all backgrounds properly, and friendly with a smile, and speaking clearly and concisely. Not getting distracted with personal conversations, or distracted while running a transaction.
I am sure with time, customer Service will get better.
Other than that, I enjoyed my meal thoroughly!
