I recently bought a 3 month old bare eyed cockatoo and an 8 week old gold capped conure from here and it was a great experience! Felipe helped me and was extremely polite and patient with answering my questions. The birds are so well taken care of by the staff; they must be because both birds are so tame and loving toward humans. That’s the sign of being hand fed and cared for. My only complaint is that the store is not likely cater nearer to me in Studio City but I could really spent all day in the store. Thank you to the staff!

Wonderful store and very knowledgable employees. We were looking for a parrot, Felipe was so helpful and answered all our questions! He helped us to pick out a bird that is a perfect match and talked us through all the training and care information.

I just got my first bird. The customer service is exceptional. The girl who helped me was very friendly — i dont recall her name :(— and gave me all the basic knowledge of how to take care of my pineapple conure. Now am planing to buy another parrot.

I am editing my review. dawn does have a point with the prices. The thing I am having a huge issue with is the girl that clips wings for birds. She is careless. My bird bleeds every time and is afraid of her. Never used to be of Karen. She is rude and I have to wait for her smoke breaks to be over before she will clip.
My bird used to love coming to be clipped and now he fears it.
This girl needs to be replaced.

While I think there are some good folks here, there is a blonde lady that works here who should not be allowed to handle ANYONE’S bird. She’s aggressive, violent, rude, and I will never forgive myself for taking him in that day. She cut our birds toe nails too short and he bled for 2 days. He still hasn’t acted the same since and his foot seems to be irritated. I understand she was stressed and busy that day, but to take it out on the poor bird is unacceptable. She had to take a cigarette break in between cuttings and was extremely difficult and rude. DO NOT bring your bird there if she’s working, you will seriously regret it and so will your little buddy.

Always enjoy going to this bird shop. They are helpful and pleasant. If you want an addition to the family and a bird is what you are looking for, than look no further.

Hands down my favorite place in the world. This place is my oasis when stressed. Do not get me started on the staff, they are incredibly friendly, and just the sweetest people you could ever meet. I bought my sun conure and barred parakeet here, they taught me how to handle and recommended great products for my lovely birds. Always come to this place when I need my birds to be groomed. It’s cool because I come here so often that sometimes customers know who I am, it’s kind of a second home to me. Really love this place, rather buy and support this store rather than purchasing toys or food through the internet.

I went into this store on Monday and bought a large hook bill food mix for my 10 month old goffing cockatoo as well as 3 toys one of which was a coconut for him to peel. On Thursday morning he was jumping around and singing and at about 5pm he suddenly flopped over and passed. Kiki was perfectly healthy and still very young. I am not sure if there was something bad in the food because it does not make sense that he would just flop over and die. I hope there are not more incidents like this one.

I think it’s unfortunate that any business owner would talk lowly of anothers in a public setting (or hint at it). I actually will take my parrot to the vet for further grooms. I also think the tone of your reply is a bit catty Dawn. I know for sure that I’m not the only person who has written a similar review where their bird was groomed wrong. I do apologize for not writing a review in the past, at times I’m more active than others on Unilocal.If there was a chance at actively patching things up, it’s been lost now. You will always catch more flies with honey. I wish your business nothing but success and wealth going forward.

I remember the day when I walked into this bird store because the barber next door told me to wait half and hour for my appointment .who would have thought that that day would be the day that my way of seen life will be change because I adapt a lovebirds. I visited the lovebird everyday for 4 weeks.
Till I was finally allowed to take him home to his new place where he going to be with me for the next 25 years hopefully.

I do not write very many reviews. If I do business with someone I will write a review if they are exceptionally bad or exceptionally good.
Canoga Discount Birds is without a doubt, in my opinion, the only place to buy a pet bird — if this is what you are looking for. They are so incredible that I don’t even know how to begin to start this review. All I can say is that they are the most caring group of individuals, who are not looking to sell you a pet bird, but rather find a good home for their birds — and matching up the right type of bird for your needs. It is the only place that I have been to that has so many birds, and yet the place is so quiet because the birds are so happy and contented in their environment.
I think that what makes this place so unique, is that they allow you to pick out a baby bird, and then come as often as you want so that you can bond with your new pet until it is eating on its own, and mature enough to come home with you. Perfect if you are buying a pet bird for a child.
They also will educate you on what your new bird will need to keep it healthy and happy. My bird (a Dusky Conure who I named NuYr) needs lots of toys to play with. And they picked out the perfect toys for me to buy for him, and also helped me set up his cage. I get so much joy and amusement watching him play. And he absolutely loves his cage.
I can see now why people from all over the country are buying their birds from this store. Because once you have an experience with them you will never go anywhere else. And the beautiful thing about this store is that they are very reasonable with all of their prices from Birds to cages, toys and all kinds of birds supplies. And they are the most honorable and ethical group of people you would ever want to work with.
To me, giving this store a five star rating is a low rating in my opinion. I would have to add ++++.
I guess you can see that I am a very happy camper, and I would never give this kind of a rating unless I felt the business was deserving of it.

I absolutely love this place. When we got our green cheek conure, they gave us so much info and really helped pick out the best bird for us. We weren’t able to take her home right away, but we went there every few days so that she could get used to us. We took her home in about a month. We go there to get her groomed, get her toys and treats, and her food. They know us now. I feel welcomed whenever I go there. They really love they birds there and you can totally tell. The prices are also really good for quality products.

This is such a great bird store. I love going in just to see my «friends» and see who’s been added to the nursery.
They have everything I need for my sweet love bird (whom I bought here) and I love holding the big birds and thinking about adding one of them to my family some day.

Canoga Discount Birds is not only a charming pet shop nestled into the unique Sherman Way corridor, but it is actually the largest retail bird store in Southern California. As soon as you step inside you understand why — you are immediately greeted by a host of cheerful macaws (including Oliver, the store’s mascot), conures, cockatoos, lovebirds, finches, and more. The store is bright, cheerful, clean and organized. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, informative, and take time to get to know you and make sure that all of your questions are answered. Owner Dawn Bianchini is a certified Avian Specialist and is trained in other specialty areas as well. This is reflected in the care and level of service that the staff provides in their grooming and boarding services, which are amazing! In addition to breeding and selling birds, the store has a vast selection of supplies and retail items and are always expanding the types of feed and supplies that they carry. They even sell their own fresh feed mixes as well. In short, it’s always a pleasure dropping by and visiting the store — and you’ll never leave empty handed!

Hi guys, let me start by saying that I am EXTREMELY upset, I purchased my GCC here 3 months ago and I was so happy with the way they hand raise the babies and how helpful they are, however yesterday I took my feather baby to get groomed for the first time here, I figured they are experienced and they know what they are doing! They were pretty quick and as soon as they brought my baby back I noticed the nails were clipped to short and one was bleeding so bad :(I told the guy immediately and he took my bird to the back again and I didn’t see any more blood when they brought him back, he said it would be fine and I left back home. I know that if is very stressful for birds to get groomed and my bird was so afraid after, he did not want me to even touch him, he finally came around and I took him back to his cage, and I noticed he kept falling when he was trying to go up from his first perch to the second one. I had specifically asked they guy to NOT CLIP HIS WINGS and well when he kept falling I checked his wings and he clipped them!!! I am soooo upset! Why would they do something after you asked them not to do it??? WHY? Not only that, but short after the white part of his eye was red and I complete freaked out and ran over to check what was wrong, the nail was gushing blood again and I guess he scratched his face and got blood around his eyes, I was so freaked out that my stomach started to hurt and I vomited, my kids were both freaking out too. I tried using flour to stop the bleeding as I read it helps, nothing helped so I rushed him immediately to the 24 hr vet around my house. Luckily they were so nice and took care of my bird super fast and helped control the bleeding. I could not sleep thinking something would happen to my feather baby and I kept checking on him. The bleeding hasn’t happened anymore (thank god) but my baby is just standing in one foot and sleeping too much :(I really do hope he goes back to normal. I planned calling the store and talking to someone about it. But I am so upset and I didn’t not want to offend anyone. I understand accidents happen, but you simply trust a store who specializes in birds to do a good job and they don’t :(I don’t know if I can ever trust to take my bird to get groomed here again, specially after you ask them not to clip the wings and they still do it. Please make sure you do your research before taking your birds to be groomed. And I’m sorry about this long review.

A great place to get away and check out some beautiful birds. Oliver the parrot is such a delight. I don’t have any birds but I would love to have one like Oliver. They seem to have plenty of birds supplies that would meet anyone’s bird needs.

Absolutely love this store ! Super helpful and knowledgeable staff. The older gentleman, and woman that have helped me in the past are always very cheerful, and willing to help. Also seem to have a great relationship with the birds they keep in the store.

This store is a dream. So many products and things to look through. It is very well organized and clean. The birds seem healthy and active. They clean up the cages well. You can tell that they really care about the birds and the business. Very knowledgable. Accessories and toys are expensive but that’s pretty normal for bird supplies. The parakeets are priced well. I could come here everyday just to look around at everything.

Originally I came here to buy a sun conures. I called ahead of time. I was sad that they didn’t have any sun conures in stock. The workers there was helpful and gave me multiple options on the birds that they currently have. They were very patient I mean VERY patient with me. I asked them many multiple questions returning me with descriptive helpful answers. I decided to get a mustache parrot/​parakeet. Did some research while I was there then settled on a 2 – 3 week old bird. Never knew birds can cost so damn much. That was my full experience at this store .
On the side notes that really matters .
They have lots of accessories that you would need for a bird. Cages, toys, food, multiple breeds of birds, think they do daycare, grooming, etc pretty much everything .
If you’re considering buying a bird. This is the place for you. They’ll help you with whatever you need. Not your typical pet commerical store .
Birds are happy and well taken care of. They hand feed them self so you’re pet bird will be comfortable growing up with you and able socialize you and others.

HUGE HUGE HUGE bird store! This place has everything you could think of. I was blown away by the different rooms this place has. A room for hatching/​baby birds with glass windows so you can see the babies or watch them get fed. There’s a room for grooming and a giant room for boarding with a TV to keep the birds happy. Each time I go I have to walk around for about an hour to make sure I looked at everything. There is a big selection of parrots to see all over the store. They gave me so much great information about my Caique’s that are breeding. If you have a parrot you need to go to this place. I live about an hour away so I can’t visit as much as I would like to but when I make time, it’s worth it.

Amazing people, amazing products, happy and healthy birds! We love to visit as often as possible. Great prices and can’t beat the selection. :)

I had been going to a different groomer and out of respect for the owner (it was a young employee who did the grooming last time) I won’t name the store. They did a bad job to say the least and it’s been since November since he had his wings clipped & he’s no where near being able to fly. anyway, he needed his nails trimmed and since I’ve been coming here for all bird supplies, and I trust them, I brought Loco in just for a «pedi» .needless to say they were so gentle with him and he’s not as pouty as he usually gets. Thanks for being so amazing as usual!

I had never been to an all bird/​parrot store. I was Used to going to Petco/​Petsmart and seing the birds there.
To my great surprise i saw macaws and all other kinds of birds out and about. Not used to that, since all birds i was accustomed to seeing at petco and such are terrified of people. The birds here are not! There are some you need to keep your distance from (CHARLIE) lol but he’s still out of his cage at times. Oliver the macaw said to me «Let me Out.» «I’ll be good…» the first time i was there! Hilarious!
All this shows the amount to experience and care these birds have had. They have been socialized to be around people and this is what i wanted for my first conure. I picked a Green Cheek Conure from the nursery and am visiting often so i can get to know ROCKY better and he/​will also start recognizing me.
They have plenty of supplies for whatever you may need to make your birds happy. And great prices too! everyone there genuinely cares about the birds well being and are great at handling them.
I can not recommend them enough.

I’ve had the pleasure of coming to Canoga Discount birds for about a year now. I’ve been here several times with my dad and some times make the trip down to this gem on my own.
My dad and I come here from Bakersfield. A good hour and 30 mins away. If that doesn’t tell you anything then… Well it should. Karen and all the staff make it so worth our drive.
My dad purchased the sweetest Sun Conure from Canoga Discount Birds over a year ago now and she is just the sweetest bird ever. Hand raised by Karen and staff you can just tell they spend so much time with their babies for them to be that sweet.
I have a pineapple conure I purchased from another store and he is sweet but I can tell he wasn’t given the attention from humans as a baby that is required to raise the sweetest birds. Sometimes, I wish that I would have gotten him from Karen and staff.
Anyway, I’m looking to add another sweet baby to my family and definitely will be coming here to adopt a feathered child.
Today I bought, treats for our birds, perches, a custom blend food and other misc items. All great quality. The bird food and treats are all custom, sugar free, seed free. I recommend trying the seed free, custom blends as seeds are so fattening for a bird and shouldn’t be consumed as daily nourishment. Try them out! Your birds will thank you.
The bird nursery is so sweet. Looks like a human baby nursery. All the sweet baby birds have their own stuffed animal to hold and are just so cute!
Canoga Discount Birds, 5 stars. If I could give more I definitely would! I absolutely adore this store and their staff.

I love this store. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. Originally i came in looking for parakeet food and supplies. They will even custom mix bird food based on your birds likes or dislikes. Over several visits and a year or so, I have enjoyed talking with Shelley, Karen and Phillipe about the birds I have as well as their feathered friends (home and store) and other birds I am interested in. I purchased a parrotlet awhile back and now we are bonding with the new addition to the family, a baby yellow sided conure. If you love birds this is the place to go, hands down.

My husband, daughter & I came in on Sunday, looking for Cockatiels. What we found was an incredible store with incredible people! We purchased 2 babies & a cage for them. Shelly & Phillipe were the nicest & most helpful people who care very much for the birds they sell. The birds are beautiful & it shows they care for each one of them by the cleanliness of their cages & the store. My peeps won’t be ready to come home for a few more weeks but I was invited to come by anytime to bond with them. I came by to visit & bond with my two new babies today & I know we are going to be great friends for a long time! Thank you for providing such loving care to our feathered friends.

They have a great selection of birds to choose from. It is all thanks to the owner of this bird shop who got my family our newest, and youngest, family member. Below is a picture of him.

The staff is always incredibly helpful and friendly and the store has anything you can think of that’s bird related. I’ve been a loyal customer of theirs for five years plus and can honestly say that ever since their new management, the only aspect initially lacking, going there has become a more pleasant experience.
If you have «fids” – or feathered kids – this place will not let you down.

From what I’m told, we bird people are weird. This doesn’t bother me, but apparently being weird means a lack of places to purchase quality things for my lovebird; the people who work at the big box pet stores don’t really know anything about birds and can’t answer questions, I’ve seen food PAST its expiration date, etc. Thus, we weird bird people must stick together, and when we find stores run by other weird bird people, we go, because we are happy to be weird together (or insert pun about flocking together, your choice).
Canoga Discount Birds is obviously run by people who care very much about birds, which is obvious in their attitudes toward customers, extremely helpful advice, the selection of food, toys, bedding, cages etc., and the birds themselves, all of whom look clean and happy; there’s even a bird nursery, where you can look through the window and see the hand-​fed babies being raised to be brought home by more weird bird people. I have never felt hurried along by an employee (even when I’ve been in close to closing), have always had every question answered, and their advice and tips seem reasonable and given from experience. Going to a pet store where the people working there genuinely care about animals, and particularly are knowledgeable about the less-​common critters their store is based around, is really nice, plus I feel genuinely valued as a customer. Wish I lived closer!

I just went in there and bought three parakeets for $ 15 each. That is a pretty fair price. Petco is $ 19, and another pet shop was $ 22. The birds all looked healthy, they all had clean cages, food and water even though it was the end of the day.
This store has a very good selection of toys and other supplies. The man at the register was very friendly and helpful. His helper was very helpful, and an excellent bird catcher! I will certainly shop here again.
