OMG! This food truck specializes in the Central Mexican delight — Cemitas! Named for the seeded bread used in this torta-like sandwich, Cemitas are the latest craze since the michelada. A well made cemitas, such as those served by Cemitas Tepeyac, are made with the large, round cemita bread, stuffed with mexican-style prepared meat(carne asada, carnitas, grilled chicken, etc), mexican cheeses(queso fresco or queso blanco), large avocado slices, lots of traditional chipotle sauce, and your choice of lettuce or mint leaf. This food truck, serves hearty Cemitas for a mere $ 5! They are the size of a normal round paper plate and I applaud those who can finish the sandwich. You can also pick up traditional mexican bottle soft drinks($ 1 – 1.50) to complete the experience. Although this is a food truck — you are welcome to eat outside with other patrons of Cemitas Tepeyac or of the other vendors who line up on this section of Whittier Blvd. There is complimentary seating in a clean shopping center(which sells $ 6 shoes, business cards, childrens clothes and ice cream) directly in from of the Cemitas Tepeyac food truck. Do not mistake the restaurant nearby with the same name — they do not serve the same quality in cemitas as this food truck does. Enjoy!
