Chandelier Tree

It’s just a tree in some guy’s front yard. What’s so special about it you wonder? There’s something kinda magical you have to experience for yourself. It’s really a sparkly beautiful and romantic permanent art installation. If you ever feel sad, take a stroll in this neighborhood and pass by this tree. It’s quite lovely. You may not find yourself alone though, it’s reputation precedes itself.

Had a moment… Had to go. As always very beautiful. The only sad part was the meter was broken. I still left my quarters.

A Chandelier Tree (literally a tree with several chandeliers hanging from it) sounds like something straight out of a romantic fairy tale, a Tim Burton film, or simply the imaginative mind of a small child. Alas, this is the stuff of real life and is located in a sleepy, quiet neighborhood in the heart of Silver Lake near Franklin Hills. Even better? This lovely site/​art piece is free (albeit, they accept donations for the electricity bill).
The Chandelier Tree is exactly what it sounds like: a majestic, large tree located in the front corner of a house’s yard (the house also apparently serves as an Air B & B) which has been decked out with various chandeliers on the branches. This results in a beautiful, artistic, almost surreal presentation that looks straight out of a romance handbook. Basically, it combines the best of modern art with simple elegance. One can gaze up at its loveliness, take photos galore, and enjoy the illumination. The word on the streets is that it isn’t always turned on which can present some potential for disappointment but it was on at approximately 6:00 pm on the Saturday night of my attendance.
Parking is a little tricky as all the neighborhoods in this area are congested with the streets always filled with cars. Don’t let this deter you… just drive around for a little bit to find a spot. It is worth it.
A street parking-​type meter stands in front of the Chandelier Tree accepting donations but on my visit the top was completely severed looking like Anne Boleyn with her head chopped off. Thus, we weren’t able to donate but it is something to consider when visiting (if they fix the meter).
The Chandelier Tree is a lovely, free, and magical art installation that will certainly bring a few minutes of ‘awe’ and joy into your life. So whatever you want to call it: art, decoration, a distraction (haha I’m sure the neighbors may call it this!); the tree is definitely one to visit. Just always remember to be respectful, this is a private lawn, after all.

Pictures doesn’t do this amazing piece of art justice. The artist has a true passion! We were lucky enough to meet him. He was very welcoming and shared a story about a couple of the chandeliers.

I love love love Chandelier Tree!!! I love trees period. But, this tree is super extra special. It’s so romantic toooooooo! *ahhhhh* sigh of bliss!
I’ve shared it with so many family members already. It’s a happy tree that’s lit with many chandeliers. Each chandelier is a different size and shape! What a genius idea! The coolest part… it’s in my neck of the woods. If it wasn’t for Unilocal I would’ve never stumbled upon this gorgeous location.

*Grab some Pinkberry or a burrito from Mixto and just sit here on the sidewalk and admire. (Alone time)
*There’s a swing beneath the tree… lonely and begging to be sat on!
There’s a meter where you can drop some change too! Let’s keep this beautiful tree lit!
–I’ve come on a rainy day (no lights): I’m sure for safety reasons. I’ve come as soon as the sun was setting. No lights… but just as I turned my car around they lit up like magic. *ahhhhhhhhh* another sigh of pure bliss. I’ve been here more than 10 times and it’s perfect and breathtaking everytime!!!

This tree is a must see. It is absolutely gorgeous! Me and my husband came here around 8pm. The area was quiet, and there was plenty of street parking.

Simply stunning.
After seeing a friend post a picture of this beautiful Chandelier lit tree I knew I needed to see it in person. It’s delightful and gorgeous! The perfect romantic surprise/​gesture for someone special.
We stopped by around 845P and there’s something magical about standing beneath it. I wish I had one on my block :) like the far end of my block where my area still goes unnoticed but close enough I can see it each evening ;)
I’m positive I’ll visit again as it’s the sort of beauty that’s worth seeing over again.
Keep the neighborhood quiet and feed the donation meter. It obviously goes with out saying, be cautious while taking pictures of it in the dark, in the street — there can be many cars and even a metro bus on the route.
Kudos to the artist, he’s created such a treat for all. Interestingly enough, part of the home is also on Airbnb if you just can’t get enough of it and need to literally stay the night.

A gorgeous creation generously displayed for you and me to en enjoy, this place is worth the trip.
My wife and I drove 30 miles just to see this tree and I’m so pleased that we did.

As a matter of fact, you sort of can! This enchanting and unique spot features a tree with chandeliers of all sorts, plus a swing. Plenty of photo ops.
I had heard of the Tree before, but we came across it entirely by accident while driving through the neighborhood. At 10 pm, we were the only ones there. You’ll notice that there is a receptacle for donations, no doubt for their staggering electricity bill.
The effect really is beautiful and serene, even more so since nobody else was around. I felt a little awkward walking into their front yard to sit on the swing, but I think it was fine since we were quiet.
If you’re ever in the area, come here when it’s dark for some unique local flavor.

Came here on a Sunday 10pm and no lights. Then I come on a Monday, 6pm, no lights… yet!
Just after I waited 10 minutes, I was almost going to leave and come back another time… lights came on! Glad I waited! :)
Very quiet street, so peaceful. While the lights were off, I see someone walking their dog and donated. So nice. Donated some of my quarters too. :3

ahhhhhhhhhh love this place! its such a simple idea, yet it’s one of my favorite memories when my best friend took me there. we were walking around Silverlake reservoir and decided to come here after. definitely bring quarters to donate and support! It was a cute little house in a residential area with a tree full of chandeliers. They all were different sizes and styles; very romantic; stop by if ever youre in the area !!

Not to be confused with the «Chandelier Tree» in Leggett, CA which incidentally does not have any chandeliers.
This place is definitely a sight to see. It has a total of 30 chandeliers strung up on a majestic tree that hangs over the street. You can thank the artist Adam Tenenbaum for this. Come here around 8pm/​9pm and drop a couple of bucks in the donation meter to help w/​the light bill.

Fortunately, I was able to visit this hidden gem when the tree was lit! It is definitely a place to admire for its beauty and art done by artist who lives at this location.
The house is located on an awkward corner in between two streets. Somehow, I had originally got the impression that this location was going to be more of a place for people to relax and just hang out underneath the tree on a lawn. However, it was not exactly what I had expected. This spot is more of a spot for people who want to drop by and take lovely photos.
It’s important to remember that this is not a public park or anything like that; This is actually someone’s home. When I went, he was sitting outside in front of his house talking to a visitor. In order to help with the cost of electricity to keep the chandeliers lit, there is a donation meter, which was broken when I went and had a beer can or something stuffed in it.
Although this location isn’t completely what I thought it would be with space to relax and hang out under, it is most definitely a spot to go check out! It’s very beautiful and romantic and not many people, even in LA, know that this place exists. I would certainly go back again. :)

Really cool place to just stop admire and take a few pics. This tree is at a residential home so I advise visiting within a decent hour. *Parking meter doesn’t turn lights on is ONLY for donations.*
I went on a Friday night and it was few people out and cars that drove by and took pictures. The homeowner is the Artist and it’s really neat.
That night they had a lady selling food coffee and tea I didn’t try any but i thought it was cool little set up.
If you have people visiting this would be be a cool little attraction or a least a nice drive to to kill time.

We drove out on Father’s Day at about 9:00pm and the lights were off. Rats! We can try another time. I feel sorry for the folks from out of town who don’t have another chance.
Still, it was pretty with the moon behind.

«The Power of Unilocal»
While doing research for my upcoming Los Angeles trip I used Unilocal to look up «landmarks». I came across «Chandelier Tree» and I bookmarked it, thinking that it would be an interesting site. It sure was!
I sent a long list of landmarks to my LA Unilocal friends. They had never heard of Chandelier Tree and they were good sports about humoring me with my requests… After we stopped by Urban Lights, we kept with the theme and current Gold Elite (soon-​to-​be Black Elite) Tim C. (proudly born and raised in LA), was brave enough to take us 3 Hawaii-​born tourists to this unique Landmark. Steve M. (transplanted to LA) went along with my ideas, saying that it was fun to play tourist with me and my coworker, a non-​Yelper. Thanks to Steve for not complaining! LOL!
I clicked on «Bookmarks» on my Unilocal app and was going to GPS it, but Tim knew where he was going — that was excellent since I had no clue where I was — especially in the dark! He quickly located it and we all jumped out of his car and started snapping away! I would have taken more photos, but my phone battery was almost dead. Well, there’s always next trip, right?
They all asked about the significance of Chandelier Tree, From what I read, the house belongs to Adam Tenenbaum who inherited all of these chandeliers. It seems as though he is an artist/​designer, so with his talent, he created this magnificent masterpiece for everyone to enjoy — free of charge! If you feel like helping to pay for electricity, there is a decorated Parking Meter which accepts quarters.
Some of the Unilocal reviews mentioned that the Parking Meter was broken or that it didn’t help to turn the lights on. It does fill up, and yes, it does not turn the lights on. Mr. Tenenbaum turns the switch on. It’s really cool! I wouldn’t mind going back!
So now, my challenge to you is to find a Landmark on Oahu that I don’t know about. If I can, I will find it and maybe take you there!

They have a cute street meter that is decorated that you can put quarters in as donations for the power to keep the tree lit up! Cute!

Truly one of a kind. I’ve never seen a Chandelier Tree before and I felt truly blessed that there was one located in a quiet little neighborhood in Los Angeles. Bless the man that lives in this house for taking the time to decorate his tree into one of the prettiest modern installations in LA. From what I’ve read on here, you never know when the lights will be on. We were lucky and came around 8:30pm and found the lights to be on. There was only two other couples there so we were able to take our time and really enjoy the beautiful chandeliers.
There’s also a decorated meter in the front that’s supposed to help keep the lights going. We tried to put in a few quarters but it was full to the brim. However, I’m not sure if the meter is still there because I heard that it was actually stolen. Such a shame. Go with your friends, family, lovers, by yourself. Enjoy this small piece of beauty. It’s truly surreal and fills you up with wonder. ⁵⁄₅
