Don’t let this nice looking truck w pretty lights fool you. I went to this truck a few days ago for the first time and ordered al pastor quesadilla, al pastor burrito and al pastor fries. I love my al pastor! ;). I was ravenous and devoured half the quesadilla within seconds but after a few minutes I noticed that the meat had a foul and strange odor, unlike any al pastor that I’ve ever had. It turned my stomach, I felt sick and I threw all of it away. The fries were great had it been a different meat but overall a disappointing experience.

Never have asada! Today was my third time I show up for tacos and they don’t have asada. What kind of taco truck doesn’t have asada? Will not be returning again. Many other places to go to in Highland Park.

I wasn’t real pleased with these tacos. They were good to try since I’d never been but i shall not return. Their pastor has a good flavor and texture but the tacos cost $ 1.50 and are served on the tiny tortillas, and these happened to be overly soaked in oil. This truck offers a good variety of the usual meats, nothing as wonderful as cabeza or barbacoa. The thing that grosses me out is that there were bugs flying and swimming and dead in the left out containers of cilantro, onions, radishes and limes. Ewwww! I mean, I understand this is a truck and not a fully established restaurant but C’mon. Also, the lady who made my tacos wasn’t wearing gloves. Umm, I doubt you washed your hands. A lil dirt never hurt? No… I’m good. Not cool! Thanks for the experience but no thanks.

I tried the potato tacos and asada tacos, with the extra rice and beans combo. Good stuff. I’d be happy to try it again. And very happy that they had the vegetarian taco option at all. Good eats for a very good price. Worth checking out.

Always awesome. Been coming to Charlie’s on the regular for about a year now and it never fails to be great. He’s an awesome dude, super nice and the food is nothing short of awesome. Those al pastor MULITAS damn… Fast, tasty, inexpensive and generally awesome. Not sure what more you can ask for. :)

I ate taco last night with my wife. If you want safe food this is it. There are a lot of taco stands nearby without any food inspection grades — and I even saw some insects crawling around. Not at Charlie’s Tacos. It’s very clean — you can see the workers always cleaning when there are no customers in line. The food is great. Serving portion is a good size(the best meat serving size is a taco stand next to Cal State LA). Al pastor and chicken are great! On Tuesdays tacos are $ 1 each. Great price! The reason for 4 stars? Their location has limited parking and sometimes I have to circle around to look for parking. Besides this inconvenience, everything else is awesome!

I love Charlie’s tacos! I’ve been coming here every weekend and so far I tried their quesadillas, nachos and tacos al pastor, pollo, carnitas and asada. The quesadillas are big and very cheesy as well as their nachos and they give you a lot of meat. If you wanna have a good deal come on Tuesday and get tacos for just one dollar! The line sometimes could get long but they are pretty fast and worth the wait.

Quality and always delivers. Carne asada and Pollo tacos are delicious. Can’t go wrong with any of the burritos either. Enjoy!

Pathetic veggy tacos of bean paste, rice, chopped tomato and iceberg lettuce prepared like they don’t give a toss. Worst I’ve had in, well, as long as I can remember. The guys in the truck look like they’d rather be somewhere else, apathetic even. Weird vibe. Get so avocados for your vegge customers, get rid of the canned cheese that you use for nachos, and check the attitude as you guys come across like you’d be just as comfortable running your customers over in your truck as you are feeding them. Won’t be heading back to the glitzy truck. So many better options around.

Here is the good and the bad Good the burrito had a great flavor, not dry. The red salsa was good and spicy. The bad the tacos were very cold very disappointing. I would not come back for them. I ordered an agua de Jamaica and it tasted like syrup very sweet. I would come back for the burrito but that’s it. Overall it was good but I was expecting better.

If you’re at the York and you want food, Charlie’s Tacos is the way to go. It’s a late night taco truck usually parked a block down from the York on the weekends. They serve street tacos, and you might as well order a bunch because they’re small.

Al pastor tacos juicy and well seasoned. Nachos here are drowning in nacho cheese sauce and heavily topped with choice of meat. It was the weight of a yellow pages book. Great bang for your buck truck. Will try more of the meats. Speaking of which, they have a variety. Includes buche(pork innards) and tripas.

I’ve had good food here, buuut the last chicken burrito i got here was no bueno. Really glad i only ate half of it because of the badly trimmed chicken, because I’ve been sick for two days. Never again.

Yummy veggie burrito! Only wish they had the marinated veggies — they did have radishes tho :-) So many trucks — hard to know which one to try — I’ll be back for sure.

While there are a few stable taqueros in the NELA area I’ve seen many come and go just along the 2.5 Mile stretch of York Blvd between Eagle Rock Blvd & Ave 64. So I noticed a new truck on Ave 50 at York and had to give things a try, a couple younger guys were running things and they seemed friendly, asking question, telling me how much better they are than«La Estrella» who has the reputation for best tacos in NELA, but Pancho thinks they’ve been slippin’ a bit the past couple years! Unfortunately I wasn’t too hungry so all I could put down were(3) tacos, I’d like to come back to try the other meat selections Tacos($ 1.25) Carne Asada — Nicely grilled lean meat, good flavor, topped with onion, cilantro and a nice salsa roja, packaged tortillas but soft and fresh. 4-Stars Al Pastor — I didn’t see a trompo on this truck, but the pork was heavy marinated and cooked well, pieces of caramelized onion and pineapple provided a bold flavor. 4-Stars Carnitas — I love my pig and this was a disappointment, you can see from the photo how overcooked and dry this was, it was like pork jerky the flavor was there so not a bad thing just not a good taco. 2-Stars The dry carnitas killed their average BUT I gotta keep it real! I’ll try going back soo to give the Carnitas another shot and test out the other meats!
