Chris handles all of my small business IT needs. He’s punctual, knowledgeable, and very thorough on all his services.
I would happily recommend him to any company. His prices are reasonable and he’s a very cool guy.

Update: So I go back to retrieve documents from the old hard drive (as in the entire drive, everything that I saved over the course of 3 years) Chis claims he extracted to an external from my trashed laptop. Half of it was not there and a good portion was inaccessible.Yeah.Just don’t go here.Seriously.

Chris was responsive, helpful and thorough. My laptop was fixed same day. He explained what steps he would take and kept me posted via text. I was lucky and everything went smoothly. No files lost and I’m back up and running. Thanks, Chris!

Chris Castro is a stand-​up guy. It may feel a little weird giving your computer over to some guy working out of a duplex in the middle of the night, like I did, but rest assured, you’re in good hands.
I had a computer emergency — hard drive crash — the night before a big deadline and my friend found Chris on Unilocal,saw the good reviews and said, «what have you got to lose?» Wary of driving to Los Feliz and dropping off my computer to a complete stranger at 10pm in the evening, I had no choice. Now, reverse that scenario for a minute: Chris is a computer repair technician and he takes calls at 9pm at night and says, «Yes, bring it in, I’ll work on it overnight for you.» Who does that??? And for a decent price???
Chris did his best, confirmed my drive was unrecoverable, popped in a new drive, got my data from my backup drive, reinstalled everything and only charged me 70% of what Mac Enthusiasts would’ve for the same job. And yes, he took my texts at all hours.
I’m grateful someone like this exists. I still kind of can’t believe he’s real. Seriously, who does this???

This was my third visit to Chris and once again he did not disappoint. Chris was responsive and professional, and the repairs to my laptop were done sooner than expected at an excellent price. I’ll always return to Chris!

I’m going to be honest: I did not find Chris through Unilocal.I met Chris Castro at a bar.
If you’re not a barfly like me, though, don’t let that sway your opinion of him.
Up until last year, I had been using the same, archaic G5 since 2004. 10 stinking years! That is like the computer equivalent of one of those little Japanese ladies who live to be 130.
Anyway, it was time to join the human race and streamline my technical life (and free up a shit load of space on my desk) so I called up Chris Castro. Chris helped me back up 10 years worth of data, files, and smut, and helped me set up a new laptop. (Well, new for me.) Now, my iPhone, my Wifi, and my computer all run smoothly and communicate with each other like they’re supposed to. He even found someone who wanted to buy my old G5! I believe it is now living out it’s golden years in someone’s recording studio.
Let’s face it… we all constantly use computers, but most people (myself included) know nothing about them. Chris’s knowledge is impressive, he’s really patient and friendly, and he didn’t make me feel like an idiot for being as ignorant as I am. He has A+ bedside manner in an industry where a lot of people can be really surly.

I’ve already reviewed him, but I wanted to update this just let him know how much I appreciate his work. I called him early in the morning on Valentine’s Day with an emergency hard drive replacement. He told me that he would do his best to get it done by the end of the day despite the fact that he had plans with his girlfriend. I think Tim and brought it right over. He called me back about an hour later to tell me that the job was done. Because of the emergency situation that I was dealing with, he completely saved my reputation and job.
Thanks Chris! Tell your girlfriend I’m sorry for stealing you away from her. You saved my ass.

Chris Castro is an unlicensed computer repairperson. He is unreliable and dishonest.
Do not utilize his services. He changed out a brand new motherboard with a older version and less ram. The video card went out shortly after his «repair». He didn’t return phone calls until he realized that I had stopped payment on his check. He then threatened legal action until I told him that I too am a lawyer. Shame on me for using him in the first place. The Department of Consumer Affairs regulates these businesses for a reason.

Without a doubt one of the best technical experiences I’ve ever had. My hard drive went down while I am in the middle of a major photo project and Chris was able to recover the data immediately and get me up and running the same night on a temporary hard drive (that has CS6 installed!)
Amazing and affordable Chris comes fully recommended.

I feel weird being the only poor review, but I can’t lie when I say Chris Castro had the absolute WORST customer service I have ever experienced. I will give him credit for his knowledge of computers and his low prices, but nothing along those lines could compensate for how he dealt with me as a customer.
What I mean by terrible customer service:
He rarely answered when I called him to check up on my laptop, let alone hardly ever called me back. I literally had to call multiple times and leave multiple messages before I would finally hear from him. And then when I would finally speak to him, there would be some other reason why my computer wasn’t ready yet.
He’ll say that he will text you, but HE WON’T. You seriously have to nag the shit out of him to get a response.
Another reason why I will never go back to him:
It’s been a month since I dropped my laptop off at his place and it will supposedly be ready tonight or tomorrow. I am a college student currently studying on the quarter system, so a month to me is almost half a term. I gave it to him halfway through, and here it is finals week in less than 5 days and I’m still without a laptop.
Did he offer me compensation for the horrid service and extensive wait? NO! He didn’t discount the price at all. He did say he could possibly deliver the laptop, but that is still to be heard. The night of. Bullshit.

Sorry for the bad review Chris, but you royally fucked me this quarter

This guy has had my computer since March (it’s now July), returned it to me once, supposedly fixed, when it wasn’t. So I had to bring it back. Big mistake. He doesn’t return phone calls, texts, or attempts to get it back now. Or when I catch him on the phone, he says he thinks it’s ready but will call me back. Then he doesn’t call me back. I’m actually afraid I’m going to have to file a police report to get my MacBook Pro back from him now. And all because I wanted to save some money on the repair. Go to a reputable repair shop!

I would love to give 5 stars, unfortunately I cannot.
I dropped my 2011 Macbook on a hardwood floor. I instantly had problems with the screen. I checked Unilocal and saw he had awesome reviews! I took my Macbook to Chris, he said he would be able to fix it no doubt and would look over it before doing any work. First if all, when you go to this place it is NOT a business location, it is out of his apartment with many pets. Not what I was expecting. He contacted me saying the parts and labor would be $ 210. And would have it fixed in the next 3 days.
I was so happy he could repair my Macbook and $ 210 seemed very reasonable. A few days after the first call about parts and labor, Chris said he found something wrong with the hard drive and the total would now be around $ 300. I was ok with that also.
When my Macbook was «ready» I went to pick it up but Chris was not there. He called his assistant to do the work for him. My macbook was NOT ready and I waited 30mins before I could leave with it. When I got home and used my Macbook, I found the webcam did not work. This was odd because it was nothing wrong with it before. I emailed Chris, he had no problem with me bringing it back.
Chris was able to fix it and said it would be ready on memorial day for pick up. I emailed him asking if 11:30am would be a good time to pick it up. I got no response, showed up anyway hoping at least his assistant would be there, I was wrong! No email, or call. He did not answer my calls. I was VERY disappointed neither the less.
If I ever have more problems, I will go to someone more professional. Sorry Chris.

I have sent Chris many texts and called many times since my last review on ⁶⁄₂₇. He still will not answer me. I am imploring him to do the right thing by me, either refund my $ 350 or get me a working laptop, but he will not respond.
Don’t take your computer to this guy!!! He took $ 350 from me and I still have no computer– he returned it ‘fixed’ to me three times, and each time it was still broken. After I took it back to him the last time, he has not returned it. The first day I took it in was exactly a year ago. THIS HAS BEEN AN UTTER DISASTER!!!
I wil definitely post if and when he does the right thing. I believe all the positive reviews on here are mostly his friends doing him a favor. There is one other reviewer on here who had this same experience. This is BAD business.

I wrote a ⁵⁄₅ review the first time I brought my computer in. He fixed it quickly for an affordable price. But the Last time was a disaster. I asked him to do a few things and it was during finals week, so I told him I really needed to be in communication as to when my computer would be ready. He was very unreliable about picking up phone and answering text messages.
Finally I picked my computer and it wasn’t fixed. I brought back into him and picked up again (again, having a very hard time getting a hold of him while he had my equipment). I picked it up again, and problem was still not fixed. I just took my computer to a PC repair shop and they told me the computer is shutting down because the fan isn’t working (this was the original issue I brought to him, and returned after still having problems). So that is twice he gave back with problem not fixed. It is going to be more expensive to fix at this other place, but at least they will actually fix it, and because it is an actual business, I can depend on getting my calls and questions answered during business hours.
Nice guy but unreliable. Wouldn’t go back.

When I needed urgent speedy care on my Mac Book Pro, this is what I received at Mr. Castro’s fine business. But wait, in addition to providing this service, which is what I’d expect according to the Unilocal reviews, my 6 year old computer is now performing faster and more powerful than ever before. Chris fixed my computer in speedy time, exceeded my expectations, gave me a super great deal, is very knowledgable about his craft, his service is convenient and a super cool dude to say the least.
Am I coming back? I’d come back in a heartbeat, if my computer ever encounters any issues (knock on wood). He’s a God send for us Mac /​PC users and I’m greatful he’s in the neighborhood to give you that 200% technical support and «Computer Love» like Roger and Zapp.
By the way, don’t be afraid of the dogs if they start barking as they greet you at the gate. They’re soft, cuddly and are there to protect your goods.

Whenever we have a problem with anything Apple, we contact Chris. I can honestly say that he is the most knowledgeable person when it comes to those things.
He has always helped us with diagnosing and fixing… on top of that he is polite, professional, quick to respond… excellent service !

Chris is awesome! He fixed Becky (my white macbook)…her screen went out and Chris fixed it FAST and A LOT cheaper than anyone around… he even beat the price of the place that wanted me to MAIL BECKY! NO BODY MAILS BECKY!

Chris is a superhero. or possibly a wizard. He replaced a hard-​drive in my computer and gave me the latest mac operating system. Then when I discovered that my printer driver wasn’t compatible with OS Jaguar shark or whichever it is, he fixed the problem remotely from his ipad while he waited for his airplane to take off.
He also woke up early to give me my computer back because I needed it ASAP.
also, he has a nice dog.

Chris is amazing!
Super knowledgeable, honest, quick, friendly and explains technical stuff in a way I can actually understand. I’ve gone to him several times for help with my 6 year old Macbook that very badly needs to be retired. He’s saved me many-​a-​times, including a couple emergency situations that he fixed in a jiffy and even gave me feedback for what I could do to steer clear from the same issues in the future, a HUGE bonus and super helpful.
Whenever a friend has a computer issue Chris is the first and only person I refer them to!

Chris is great.
He really cares about what he does and he’s very good at explaining things.
Computer guys often are not very good «people» persons. Chris has excellent people skills, which makes it a lot easier to understand what he’s telling you. I like that.
I contacted him as a result of reading his Unilocal reviews. Now I know why he has such consistently high ratings.
