terry was the stylist that cut my hair and i was very happy with the result. i have unruly, thick and wavy long hair and was way long over due for a haircut. she layered and shaped my hair, even gave me nice fringe bangs. she was also able to style my wavy hair beautifully without a straight iron. im definitely coming back.

Make sure you ask«the price“of hair cut first-before commiting to the cut, then you can decide if you wanna get ripped off, and still be expect to tip! way too over priced here!

Based on the nice reviews, I decided to give this salon a shot since it is so close to my work. Terry was great! She cut 8 –10 inches off my hair, and delivered exactly what I asked for. I didn’t feel the need to explain anything throughout the haircut, because she was so competent. I am always a little worried that I won’t be able to re-create that straight out of the salon look with a haircut, but I washed it today, and spent about 3 minutes styling and that was it. It looks great. I told Terry I am not someone who wants to blow dry or style my hair and I feel like she really delivered on a hair cut that doesn’t need styling. I was also able to get an appointment last-minute, which was really convenient.

This place is 5 stars for affordability and quality of haircut. Jimmy did an amazing job of cutting my hair and went well above my expectations. This was my first time cutting my hair here and I will definitely be coming back. I expected a trim but he re layered my hair and used a variety of different techniques and tools to achieve a great cut. If you’re looking for a Beverly Hills experience with champagne and lap dogs, this is not the place for you. But if you want a very high quality cut for a great price, as for Jimmy!

My wife had some designer cut her hair in San Jose, CA, it was failed. She felt so unhappy. Luckily, we got a chance to receiving training in L.A. in the beginning of May. So she was able to came to City Hair to look for Kayoko again. How Awesome Kayoko is, she gave my wife a brand new hair style. Every of our friends said that my wife got a great hair cut. Even now, her hair is longer now, it looks better, though! I think I need to arrange another trip to L.A. few months later. SO my wife can go to Kayoko for another hair cut. With the hair cut quality that Kayoko delivered, $ 50 is more than worth! Thank you, Kayoko! ^__^

Decided to try this place out after reading Unilocal reviews. I was fairly disappointed with my haircut– an a-line bob. I honestly don’t think the person who cut my hair really understood what I wanted. I did show her pictures of previous haircuts I had. And honestly it’s my fault because I have a lot of hair and it’s hard for me to find someone who can work with it, and I just went for it without really getting feedback on how good she was with my hair type. The person I got was very nice and I think if I went for a basic haircut, it would’ve been fine. The price would’ve been reasonable, if I liked the haircut. I’ve paid about the same for the same haircut. I’m really posting this review for women with more intricate haircuts, I think you’re better off going someplace else. I’m giving them 3 stars because I don’t wanna be a douche, the people there were really nice. But parking is ridiculous and I paid 10 bucks to park at a nearby lot.

They moved! They’re on 1st St now, next door to Mr. Pizza. Have been going here for years, thanks to recommendations from friends. Miyuki has consistently done a great job, I’m always able to let my hair grow out a few months and still get compliments on it. My hair is more course with a slight wave, but Miyuki is able to tame it and knows what works and what doesn’t. Other hair places I’ve gone to try to cut my hair as though it’s fine and straight, but those haircuts always end up looking unruly after a few weeks and I’ve had to go back to Miyuki and ask her to fix it.(Thank you, Miyuki, for always welcoming me back with open arms!) I will continue going here for as long as I can and only trust Miyuki to cut my hair.

GreAt job listening to my concerns. She took her time and asked what I wanted before cutting off. I am loving my new short haircut, looks and feels much healthier.

I love this salon! I have been coming here for a decade now so clearly this is a long overdue review! I am very uneasy about who I trust with my hair due to past experiences, so imagine how happy I was when I tried Terry and I fell in love with they way she does my hair! She takes her time and always cuts my hair into the style I show her! I have never tried anyone else here, so I can only speak for terry, but I love her!

I’ve been Terry-san’s customer at City Hair for over 10 years now, and each time I come out of the salon happy and sexy. She knows how to cut & treat Asian hair. I get complements from my family and friends each time. To top it off, she is always kind and funny, and knows when you want to have quiet time :) I can’t wait for my next appointment!

I take my entire family to this place. They are good with men’s, women’s and children’s hair and all sorts of hair types: straight and thick hair, wavy and thin hair. Between all of my family members we had all stylists and they are all very good. They seem to deploy very similar techniques. For women they charge $ 50 which I think is very reasonable.

Jimmy is amazing he cuts hair with such precision. He listens to what you want and is honest about what looks good on you. $ 60 bucks for a haircut is well worth it, it’s a cheap price for the quality.

Walked in and asked if they take walking. They said they did. The man says $ 40 for a haircut. Really? For a fade? I told the guy sorry but your fucking crazy. No men’s hair cut is worth $ 40 especially when the guy sitting in the chair didn’t have a great looking. Sorry but it’s probably the reason your not packed on a Saturday

Miyuki is AMAZING! I honestly have never been so satisfied with my haircut before. She really listened to my request and followed exactly(you know how some hair stylist don’t understand what«not too short» means). I would highly recommend her if you really care about your hair style. The only down side is that I didn’t know that she charges 60 dollars for long hair(as oppose to 40 dollars). Still, I think it’s worth it!

I’ve been getting my hair cut by Jimmy for years. He is excellent with mens hair. He is exceptionally good with classic mens styles, but can also replicate almost any example, regardless of your hair type. 100% scissors except for some edging, so it takes time, but is worth it. Some people might think $ 40 is a lot for a mens cut(it’s not btw), but you will notice that as your hair grows out, it continues to look great. I’ve gone up to two months without even a touch-up, and have to force myself to book another appointment. If you’re a young guy trying to look sharp, you must try City Hair.

City Hair is located on the south side of 2nd Street at Central in Little Tokyo. It’s adjacent to Subway and Harulala. I took my daughter in on a Friday afternoon to get a trim. He did such a great job. Unlike some hair dressers, he actually listens. My daughter was so concerned about getting it cut too short. He eliminated the split ends and put a nice style without comprising the length.

I’ve been going to Terry for years and it is always the best experience! a towel is folded around your face to protect it from water splashing, then a wonderful shampoo. I’ve brought pictures and hairpieces to show how i want my hair to look, and she always does it to what I’ve asked for, especially in the color matching department! My hair falls into place without effort, as I’m not great with styling it myself. She puts so much care and creativity and art into her work, once going here, no other place feels as good, I know I can trust her to give me an excellent cut and color as well as a good experience, as some place I’ve been seem so high stress and pressured, not here! You are treated with care and respect, that you get what you want, how rare is it that a stylist does what you want? Highly recommend!!!

You’re almost perfect. I never knew this place existed and I must have passed by this place over a hundered times. In need of a cut, I looked to Unilocal to help me out. This place came out on top for closest and highest reviews. I called on a Saturday afternoon and they had an opening. What I love about this place is that it’s just across the street from where I live. Again something I can walk to in LA. Sweet! Not only is the place close to where I live, but they are awesome at cutting and washing your hair, who would have thought!?! I’ve been looking for a place that was convenient to go to and knew how to cut my poofy Asian hair. The place is really low key, no trendy design or club music blaring in the background. And no, they don’t gimmick you with free root beer or craft beers. Don’t let the appearance fool you, they are up to date with hairstyles. There are three people to choose from, I asked for anyone who was free and ended up with Terry. She was extremely polite and listen to exactly what I wanted. $ 40 for cut, wash and dry. There are no options, you get full service here. Terry is extremely meticulous and takes her time making sure you get what you want. Based on the other reviews it seems as if the others are just as exceptional as well. I give this place 5 stars, but it wasn’t exactly the perfect experience. The other guy getting a cut was extremely annoying and kept rambling on. Ruined the relaxing atmoshere, but that’s not«City Hair’s» fault. They were just too polite to shut him up.
