Something that I tried in other city, and thought about giving it a try in LA. The first 12 hours it was okay; however, as I travelled through the city the next day, I found the hop on hop off bus had no bus stop, no landmarks of exactly where to catch the bus in place outside of Hollywood. (How do I know where to wait). When calling the office for help, I got little assistance; Gave me an address, which turned out to be wrong, and me not knowing «where I should stand» to wait for the bus. I went around in circles, lost and supposedly «missed the bus» that I never seen go by as I waited for more than 1.5 hr. # It wasn’t worth it.

On the beach loop tour bus # 324 on August 2, 2013 our driver was terrible.
He nearly sideswiped a bunch of parked cars and cut off cars so they honked at us. It was hard to enjoy the scenery when you were afraid of crashing.
I do not recommend this company because they do not have safe drivers.

What a rip off! We told our sales person what our time constraints were and he sold us a two tour package at a «discount» price. We were told we wouldn’t even have to change buses. When the bus stopped, the tour guide told us we needed to get off and catch the next bus that would be there in an hour. We told her our time constraint issues and she she said there was no way we would make it back if we took both tours. She estimated our time back to be two hours past what the sales person told us. We stayed on the same bus and returned in an attempt to get a refund for the second half of the tour we were unable to take. We were told that no supervisor was available and we had to call their office the following week. When I called the office the rude employee I spoke with would only repeat, «The ticket says no refunds!» She then hung up on me.
This was a total case of bait and switch. They’ll tell you whatever you want to hear in order to make the sale. This place is a total scam, so beware!!!

Do Not take this tour! Buses did NOT run every half hour… So when we hopped off at the Grove we waited 2hrs to get back on… The Tour Guide was not enthusiastic at all! Gave Lame sightseeing info. then he had the audacity to practically shove a tip bucket in our faces! I’ve taken Starline Tours and this could not even compare and I mean that in a very BAD way! Don’t waste your time n money!

Im not from LA but close by. My girlfriend and her friends came to visit from out of town so decided to take this tour. Employees are inconsistent. We had to take the tour a couple times and received different «tourist info» from different guides. Some guides were funny others not but there was rude employees. We took the last tour of the day the beach loop. It seemed like the driver was trying to convince us not to take the tour. She made it seem like she was being inconvenienced by us wanting to do the loop anyways. The buses arrival times are not on time at all once we waited over an hour for a bus that’s supposed to arrive every half hour, not good. The best thing about it is it’s jump off and on and u can take it to key places. Just don’t depend too much on it.

My relatives have visited me from Germany and of course they should not be missing an LA tour. We opted for because the City Sights Tour declare by the employee sounded very tempting (Tour offerings, hop on, hop off, and price). Kurt our tour guide was fantastic, we had great fun. He has the knowledge and knows exactly how to make the tour great. With the necessary charm, wit and humor, the tour became a highlight. Some employees could really cut a slice from it. My family and I will recommend him in any case further.

We are from the L.A. area and had never done one of these tours and we had a great day. We did all three of their tours which ended up being a looong, but fun day. I would recommend this, but think there are definitely a few things that need to be known, or corrected.
Half our tour guides were great– knowledgable and interesting. (Daniel, and another man with a khaki hat whose family had a Navy background) However, we had a couple who we weren’t impressed with. One (on the return portion of the beach loop) spent a great deal of his time telling us about his personal life and while we enjoyed chatting with him– it wasn’t what we paid for. In fact, he informed us he hadn’t been on the tour for awhile and he was completely surprised by the route and seemed to not have much to say about the sights. Another tour guide was yelling into the microphone so loud it hurt our ears. She had all the facts down but it wasn’t interesting because it was clearly a memorized script.
Another thing they simply don’t mention is that the movie star homes tour isn’t given by their company. They walked us around the corner downtown to another tour company. The downside to this is that this tour repeated portions of the Hollywood Loop, and the tour driver for this company made rude comments in regards to the «new company,» that were farming out people to them in town, which was clearly City Sights Tours.
The buses are fine, but not as new as advertised and its important to mention that there are no inside seats and its not handicap accessible which should be advertised.
We did have a great day overall and saw lots of things. It was good to learn facts about sights we always see but don’t know much about. It was a good value for the money.

We decided to take a tour of LA pretty much at the last minute. We arrived in LA in the evening and had to fight traffic for over a hour to get from the airport area to Beverly Hills/​Hollywood. We wanted to see more of the area and we were short on time. We were offered many tours while walking around the kodak and chinese theatres. When we were over by the wax museum a young lady started telling us about a tour that took us through Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, Hollywood, Farmer’s Market and back for 25 dollars a piece. She said we could get dropped off any of these places and picked back up within a hour. She told us about the Farmer’s Market and how they had a lot of good dining options there. We went ahead and decided to go for it since we wanted to see everything and not fight traffic ourselves. We sat on the upper deck of this bus and left about 10 minutes after purchasing our tickets. The tour guide stopped in front of different establishments and told us about celebrities who had worked, stay at or frequented these businesses. We went by Capitol Records, La Brea tar pits and Universal Studios as well. It took us about a hour before we were dropped off at the farmer’s market but the ride was plesant and the tour guide was informative and funny. We ate at a brazilian restaurant at the farmer’s market which wasn’t great but cheap. We walked around the shops for a bit before catching the next bus at 8 or so. This bus didn’t have a lower deck so we had to sit up top and it was cold riding back. The tour guide was from Ukraine but spoke Spanish and English as well. There were a few people on the bus who were Spanish speaking but also quite a few Asians and a few of us Americans. The tour guide spoke mostly Spanish which made it hard for us who did not know Spanish to understand what he was saying. He asked for a tip at the end of the tour and had his hat out for one as we exited the tour bus. We did tip the first tour guide but did not tip this one because we couldn’t understand what he was saying. Maybe next time he’ll consider speaking English and Spanish so more than one audience can understand him.

We were not really impressed with the sight seeing. I found 3 out of 4 of the tour guides to be rude. If you are a tourist you want to feel welcomed to this city. Wear plenty of sun block because you will be at the top level. There is no lower level. What is in there? The Movie Star Home’s tour with horrible. The tour guide was only interested in checking out the ladies walking the dogs. He cursed and his speech was slurred. There were kids in the tour so he should have watched his language. Was he high? A couple times he almost crashed because he was just checking out the luxury fast cars. I’ll never do this again and I don’t recommend it. The New York City tour was much better.

BEWARE!!! They do not care about people AT ALL!
They changed their routes and times, BEFORE they had an updated map and website. Confusing people, actually passing up stops (poor people waiting at those stops) and leaving people and tourists where the map says they should be waiting unknowingly waiting at the wrong stops! The driver actually said that the company is new and trying to save money — wth?! So it’s okay to take tourists and passenger money and leave them to WAIT and WAIT and WAIT… Toll free number connects to NY, who do not know LA streets!
Take my advise, don’t waste your time — and — money. Do your research and go with another company. CitySights LA Tours is not the one.

TERRIBLE SERVICE. bus stops not marked, like starline tours, bus was over an hour late. parking is a mess. all seats on top of double decker — so people having difficulty climbing stairs are out of luck

Had 2 guests from out of town and got a great deal on the all loops tour. Good– Stars’ homes tour– EXCELLENT! AND there was shade on that one! Half the guides were funny. Not so good– the employees consistently underestimated how long the tours would take– and didn’t tell us even though I asked on the phone and in person how best to take the tours– to get to the beach loop, you have to go through the Hollywood loop– we ended up having to go through the Hollywood loop twice– not worth it. Doing the Hollywood loop plus the beach loop in traffic took 6 ½ hours– they told us 3 hours! That’s a long time to sit in 80+ degree weather with no restroom! Also, not to be too picky, but I’m from here and they said that Redondo Beach is in Orange County. Umm, no! Also, there were some politically incorrect comments and jokes that we really didn’t need to hear.
So my recommendation would be just take the Stars Homes tour, and then if you really want to go on a long trip and see more, do the two loops in the right order– Hollywood to Beach to Hollywood so you only need to sit through each loop a total of one time.

PLEASE DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON THIS TOUR!
I only had a short time to see the city, and I figured this would be be a good way to see it… I was wrong. All the other tours were booked up and I figured $ 20 apiece was a decent price ($ 5 was taken off because of online booking). Trip Advisor had two negative reviews, though Unilocal had one positive one. Honestly, however, everything on the Trip Advisor site was true.
Though they tout it is an hop on-​hop off tour, DON’T GET OFF. The other reviews talk about it, too. We got off at Rodeo Drive at 4:45, and was told that they would pick us up in an hour (after 4:30 they only pick up every hour, not every half hour). We weren’t sure if that meant they would be back at 5:45 (an hour from then) or at 6 (on the hour). We got back at 5:40 where we were supposed to be picked up, and another family was there already. The bus finally came by at about 6:30, but the guide said they were full so they couldn’t stop, and he’d called it in to dispatch, and another bus would be by either immediately or in a half hour. When it was after 7 and it never came, we called the number on the brochure/​map, which was actually a reservation number in New York. They didn’t have the local number, and just read off the information from the brochure. Also, forget about getting a refund: it says no refunds.
We had to take $ 40 taxi back to the origin point, and only got to go on half of the tour.
Even though we did buy online, we still had to pick up our tickets because we printed out vouchers online as proof of purchase. That wouldn’t have been so bad, but dealing with the people at the kiosk showed how customer service was NOT to be done. They kept ignoring us to have side conversations, so our wait was long.
The tour itself wasn’t so bad – there were lots of interesting tips, except the tour guide kept talking about how great the tour is, and reinforcing our choice though we were obviously on the tour, unless she was advertising it to other listeners. The speakers were crackly and made her sound like she had been a 20 year smoker.

I went on the Beach Tour &LA tour this past weekend. I’m from LA but my friend & I thought it would be a fun and random adventure. And it was!
All the employees were really helpful and so friendly. We even made some new friends!
Lucas was extremely helpful &fun. and Kurt was our tour guide and was quite funny (and knowledgeable– i learned so much about LA).
Great experience!
I highly recommend it!
