Crossroads Trading Co.

Unfortunately, Crossroads Trading Co. left a bitter taste in my mouth this afternoon. While waiting in line to get paid for a shirt I had just sold, I realized the line was moving rather slow. There was only one person handling the register (Demi), and there were a few customers waiting in line behind me.
The customer behind me says, «They really need to open another register.» I said, «I agree, I feel like it would expedite the line.» So a young girl with short blonde hair walks past me, and I grab her attention and say, «Do you think you can open another register please? A few of us are waiting, and it would really expedite the line.»
As she is trying to respond to me, an employee (Natalie –black hair, light skin, average height) begins to yell something to me. I can’t really make out what she’s saying, but I thought it was extremely tasteless and unprofessional of Natalie to intervene when I am not even asking a question to her directly. Instead, I was asking another employee (who apparently was also the manager — the girl with short blonde hair). We must have been a good 20 feet away from Natalie and her register. On top of that, Natalie was already dealing with a customer of her own at her register — so by trying to intervene or answer for another employee is also disrupting her transaction with the customer, and taking attention away from that customer — which is extremely unprofessional and inconsiderate.
So after this awkward exchange, the cashier (Demi) calls me to the register. Demi seemed professional and courteous, and when I asked her for the manager, she said it was Natalie. I immediately thought to myself: This is so unfortunate because when a manager is being unpleasant and disrespectful, then how does that reflect on the store as a whole operation? After handling my exchange with Demi, I then approached Natalie and asked, «Why did you answer for that employee? It wasn’t really your place. I wasn’t asking you. I was asking her. Also, it’s extremely un-​classy of you to be raising your voice, especially when you’re dealing with a customer of your own.»
Natalie’s response? «Okay, sir, thank you — have a nice day!!»
At this point, I became extremely irritated and shocked. Why would a manager deal with a customer in such a condescending and dismissive manner? Is this how she is also treating her employees? Natalie definitely needs additional training on customer service and etiquette. Or perhaps her communication style and overall approach as a manager needs to be re-​evaluated by the store owner/​corporate in order to make this individual a more polite, approachable and mature employee/​manager. If Natalie really wanted to make a point, she could have excused herself from the customer she was helping, walked over to where me and the other employee were standing, and then begin speaking like a tactful person.
Usually when there is an issue with an employee, you speak to their manager. But how would you address an issue when it actually involves the manager? Is there a senior manager above Natalie? I know I should have stayed and asked to speak to someone above Natalie, but at the time I was rather annoyed and needed to remove myself from that environment. Also, I am now posting this review so the upper management/​corporate level of Crossroads Trading Co has an idea of the situation and Natalie’s unprofessional attitude.

The best place to sell your clothes! Just make sure you check on their website to see what they’re looking for. I was helped by Brooklyn, and Natalie today. Super awesome gals. Always helpful, and sweet! They have the best selection for shoes, boots, and jackets. I’ll be back soon! Best store I’ve been to in La county. Kudos to the team !

First time to try selling here, because it seemed interesting. Now I kind of know their tac tic. They tell you to wait for couple of minutes and to go look around. I thought during that time they already know what they want or not from my items.
When they called me is when they just started viewing the items. What seemed a lot of time wasted, walking around what was more like Goodwill. They say they want higher end brand, but looking around, the entire store was not so much like that.
Also what is with the lady with overdrawn eyebrows that wasn’t very welcoming. I’m done with my curiosity here lol.

I came in a couple of days ago and the store atmosphere was fantastic! I was helped at the fitting rooms by Kayla and she was very quick to get me a room and was very polite. I found a few pieces that I love and will definitely come back to this location because of the customer service!

If I could i would ZERO star for service! They have in the store not good quality/​condition stuff, might return your by saying: because of the condition …
And also don’t never give them ID first, they tracking your sale, and saying to again no. Bla bla bla.
Most worse question is long ago you did sale with us… Why is that? That makes your business better!!!

Very nice items! I was a bit disappointed with their pickiness in what they buy from you but I get why now. The merchandise is good quality and decent name brands. The pricing is good too (if you have a Ross, Marshalls, or TJ Maxx wallet like I do!). It’s a good place to go and explore even just for fun because there’s so much variety in there every day. Definitely recommend!

First time seller and I am extremely satisfied. Although some of the items are worth alot more than I was cashed for, I understand that they sell the items way below retail price. The gal was super sweet, and walked me through the process! She took most of my items and I ended up walking out with a decent amount.
I could’ve traded, but there wasn’t anything I personally liked. It was an interesting process, and I will be coming back!

This place is corrupted! They post a picture on their Instagram page advertising a YSL purse in consignment, I called to check if the bag was available and the store manager named BROOKE said that it was on hold for a lady who I’m sure is her friend named Bonnie. It’s funny how she completely contradicted herself and said «well we don’t do holds on consignment items». Perfect proof is that the lady named Bonnie commented on Instagram thanking the store manger Brooke for holding the item for her. I will be making a formal complaint to corporate

While this location is bigger with more clothes and shoes than the Silver Lake location, there’s barely anything «good». Silver Lake may be smaller, but there’s just better options and the clothes are more curated with shit you’d actually like. I like to compare the Los Feliz location to that of a thrift store, where things aren’t actually selected according to brand, trends, what’s in season and what looks «good». Instead, it looks like the buyers just picked everything to be sold and threw it on the sales floor.
This means that you’re going to have to hunt for those gems. I can spend 10 minutes at the Silver Lake location and find 3 – 5 things I actually like, as opposed to this location where it can take me up to 30 minutes to find one decent item.
However, I do like the guys section, which is much larger. I shop this section all the time and swooped up on a Supreme tee for $ 15. Not bad.

I’ve shopped at crossroads for years. I lived in San Francisco for four years, and was pleased with the customer service at the Haight store, and Market street location. I usually shop at this store, and Santa Monica. Will be my last time going here now. I’ve never felt so uncomfortable in my life. I just listened to two employees talk crap about customers and myself for fifteen minutes. I shouldn’t have purchased anything, but I ended up finding something I liked. I work in retail, I don’t have time to make customers feel unappreciated, or uncomfortable. It’s just rude. Everyone at the cashier area were great, I just had an issue with the employees that were working the fitting room.

The employees were awesome the buyers always have cool convos with me when I sell & they’re polite here! Finds are cool I got an awesome back pack hoodie for amazing deals I love it!

The girls at the sales counter kept me waiting 45 minutes before they looked at any of my items. I saw people who came in after me go before me. When they did get to me they wouldn’t take anything. Saying we don’t take things in those cuts. Meaning they won’t take stuff in plus sizes. Then they tried to back pedal and say that if was about the condition of the clothes even though all the clothing was clean and barely worn. Just the worst. I’d rather give things away for free than getting money if it means being treated badly.

A complete waste of my time and the staff is rude. They are racist they took all of the white people’s clothes and didn’t touch any of mine which were American apparel and vintage they also allowed somebody to skip ahead of me.
I was referred and was highly disappointed I will never go to crossroads or shop there and anybody ethnic shouldn’t even bother!!!

I don’t know what the hell happened to Crossroads over the years. I visited my first one in San Francisco over 12 years ago in my teens and it was a junked up, vintage filled, quirky kind of store that sold beat up Chuck Taylors and whimsical designer dresses. I still have some of the pieces I bought back then because they were so great.
Now you walk into one and it’s like a whitewashed, drab, overpriced pretentious pit of sadness. I’ve been to the newer locations in SF and Santa Cruz, but the Los Feliz location is by far the saddest reincarnation of something that was once great. Why is a store of this size so SPARSELY stocked? Whoever is buying clothes here has absolutely no sense of style. The clothes seemed boring, dark and some even a bit outdated and cheaply made. Even some of the items were damaged! I saw nothing that stood out. But then again, if you’re the «typical» LA kind of girl, then you probably feel quite at home here in the sea of blandness.
The guy working the fitting room counter seemed like the only person working there who had a soul. He smiled and was nice and friendly and answered questions. Everyone else looked like they were constipated and wished I would leave. I came in to buy a pair of sunglasses because I had just broken mine and needed a cheap replacement. The girl behind the counter was loudly bitching to another girl during the transaction, and glared at me when I said ‘thank you’. Okay, perhaps retail is not the best career path for you?
This chain of stores used to be awesome. And it still has potential for being awesome… but whoever is designing the store layouts, or coming up with the buying qualifications and display models REALLY does not know how to appeal to anyone outside of the niche, self-​absorbed hipster market. At least Buffalo Exchange thrives with variety and color… and is bursting to the seams with stuff for sale. Crossroads is just missing something… pizazz, maybe? All in all… not for me. I’ll try to remember you guys as I did back in 2004 and light a vigil candle.

I’ll start off with the parking… nearly impossible, especially if you drive a huge car. Yes, I know, it’s LA and I shouldn’t have a huge car that sucks gas, but since I do it would be nice to be able to park it in the parking lot close to a store I want to shop at. And even if I had a small car, the parking lot is crazy busy. Plan on parking at the grocery store across the street and avoid the hassle all together.
Next…this is the least dynamic of all of the locations I have been in (meaning they have the least amount of cool stuff I am interested in). And I am not sure why it is so glaringly annoying at this location in particular, but why they market clothing by color, as opposed to size, is beyond me and absolutely maddening.
Here I am looking in a rack of black, shuffling through them all only to find something I actually like and would buy, only to discover it’s not anywhere near the size I wear! Grrrr…
Seriously, someone please explain this to me!?! I’m no genius, but it seems like organizing clothes (when you are selling 1 ofs/​individual items) by size makes much more sense.
All the above said, it’s hit an miss here. I have come and found a few cool pieces and I have come and found zero. The latter is more often the case.
It is a clean store, relatively and the people that work there have always been very nice.

I brought in some fall stuff and the comment from one of the buyers was «Yeah this is Rag and Bone and I know it’s like a distressed look but it’s too damaged.» There’s no damage it just has a distressed look and when I said that the buyer responded with «mmhm.» While giggling to another buyer. Then, this girl Janisse or Janice… something, literally slammed all of my friends belongings she was selling on the counter. Threw some of her shoes around like she didn’t give a rats ass. That same girl checked me out. I purchase Hunter boots, 2 Rebecca Minkoff purses, a Kate Spade bag, and Rag and Bone boots and she literally slammed everything down and THREW them into my shopping back. She yanked sensors off of the items and I asked her to be gentle please and she rolled her eyes… only reason I’m giving 2 stars is because I liked what I purchase

I had a great experience at this store. I had read the reviews and was prepared to have nothing chosen, but Riley (?) picked 3 things and I received $ 22 credit. Woo! Short wait time, Riley and Darius were super friendly.
Don’t be offended if they don’t choose your items, it’s one person’s opinion of what will sell and may depend on their mood. Try again at another location, sell on poshmark or ebay, etc.

That ugly oversized pink sweater you got for your birthday… well you know your never gonna wear it. Why punish the suitcase, by saving it forever n ever. Take it to Crossroad! You might get something out of it.
Remember that one shirt you wore once, and then you totally pigged out when you twisted your ankle, and couldn’t walk properly for days. Now it’s too tight on you! Do yourself a favor… pull that shirt outta that poor suitcase too. Someone else can use it sooner than you’ll lose those pounds.
And yes, who can forget those New Balance sneakers you bought for him online, and never returned in 30 days cause his feet to wide to be happy in them. Brand new shoes… Crossroad will be glad to take those off your hands as well.
Just whatever you have laying around, in good condition, not more than 3 years old is a good selling piece. If it’s from somewhere like forever21 expect to only receive approximately $ 1-​$ 3 for the item. On the other hand, sneakers and shoes might make you bank.
You may walk in with 3 huge bags, and walk right back out with them. The person selecting which items to purchase, is going by what’s in season, so don’t get butt hurt. Haha.
I personally don’t like to shop shop here. I like to sell here. They DO HAVE A BRAND NEW ITEMS section as well, which is really cool.

I love thrifting and has been to multiple crossroads and I must say this location is the worst. And I am just referring to their customer service. The staff here have this bitch face and does not know how to smile or greet their customers. I even saw a staff roll their eyes on a customer. Not welcoming at all.
recently sold here as well, horrible experience. Payout sucks and staff is just rude. After they checked me out I said thank you and the girl just looked away and didn’t say anything. How rude is that!
The two best crossroad location is the one in sliverlake and pasadena. The staff is great! And they all know how to smile

While on my walking trip in search of good vegan restaurants, I decided to peruse this shop since I was in the area. The shop is very spacious and clean. I saw quite of few items, bit because I was pressed for time, I had to make my trip short. However, i made sure to purchase something before leaving the store. I got a pair of rose pink colored vintage gap jeans and a cute lil trendy top for $ 16.36. The jeans were priced at $ 15 but it add a sticker on it that said half off.
Unlike the consignment shops in Long Beach, where I live, that sells your regular mall brands, this shop has vintage high-​end brands such as Gucci, Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton just to name a few, which are behind the counter or in a locked glass case.
I will be in the area again. This time I will be able to take my time to shop.
UPDATE: Felt like a winner when I walked up in there and got my hands on 2 Marc Jacob bags. I had sold some clothes and got $ 36 in store credit. Applied that to my items and ended up getting the 2 bags for about $ 80. WINNING!
