CSULA University – Student Union

Don’t go to this school. The never have financial aid for students. Then tell you to come back tomorrow. They lost my transcripts which I sent from my previous school. They cancel classes needed and required so your stuck doing nothing but taking one credit courses. This was my worst decision in choosing a school. I wish I could go back in time to tell myself not to go to this school. Housing is terrible. Having 8 people live in a dorm. Like really 8 people. Food selection sucks. Just over all an expensive waste of time

I have attended a few conferences here, nice new modern construction.

The staff running the VITA program are awesome! They’re fast, friendly and knowledgeable. I have come here for the past 5 years and I’m always satisfied with the service.

I prefer to come here to study on the 3^rd floor. Its quiet and normally you can find a table or chair. They do allow food and drinks in this room, unlike the library and that makes it that much better.
The overall building is great. Has numerous clubs and org’s here, a gym, and various other hangout spots.

This is a gorgeous building, one of the newest additions to the CSULA campus (which has barely been updated since the late 60’s!)Most of our classes are crumbling, but the student union is a vision of beauty, and always maintained very nicely!
The main floor is large, spacious and a great place to hang out with friends or study. There are two television screens that play MTV College, and a Sbarro’s. On the second floor, you’ll find the ASI office, CSI, Cross Cultural Center, and many comfy seats and tables for studying. The third floor is where the meeting rooms and ballrooms are located. This is where school events are held, and most of them are catered by the US-​U staff (they have excellent food!!! mmm)
The basement is where all the fun stuff is located. Here you will find «The Pit» where you will find gaming such as Billiards, and televisions to watch the big game. Not far from the Pit is the Fitness Center (aka, the Gym). This is where most students come a few times, then stop altogether. Usually after new years, or right before summer.
All in all, the US-​U is a great place to spend those few hours between classes!

I basically live here. Oh really quickly, to the review: «but the events held here tend to be very liberal, and the school is closed minded to those with a more conservative perspective» ummm… you’re going to a school with a HIGH minority population… in East LA area… This isn’t Texas.
Anywhoo…he’s probably referring to the events hosted by the CCC (Cross Cultural Center located in the second floor of the USU between ASI and CSI.)
The CCC’s focus is on tolerance and diversity so if you’re conservative/​homophobic/​racist, you’re not really gonna fit in at these events. But for us progressive people, COME ON DOWN =]]
All the ethnic/​progressive clubs usually have their meetings in the CCC’s rooms. I’m the outgoing President of the Black Student Union and we have our meetings in the PASRC (Pan African Studies Research Center). Oh and the CCC is the place to go if you want to sign up for Black Grad, Raza Grad, Pride Grad, API Grad… etc.
Oh and as a single mom, I’ve had to bring my daughter to school sometimes and thank God for the CCC having a room for mother’s to have some privacy to breastfeed or change a diaper. Because apparently there are noooooo places to change a baby on campus (really CSULA??).
But yeah. So. First floor has Sbarros and some sitting places.
Basement has a gym and a game room area.
Third floor has like a jillion conference rooms named after cities in LA county. (Go Pasadena Room) lol
But yeah. if you just want a cool place to go… visit the CCC… inside the USU lol

There’s so much to choose from in this building. It was truly made for the students and its understandable why ASI is located here. If you’re a CSULA student check this place out and stop giving the school a bad rep. Just get more involved and in order to do that, check out this building.

for those who are saying that the school is wasting money on this building, if the school’s money doesn’t go for the students, for who would it go? think about it, this building has made for the students and their activities.

I don’t know. I just don’t know about this place. To me it seems like there’s a lot of wasted space (and therefore wasted CSU $$$). I come here for the Sbarros, there’s a Starbucks on the back corner which is like the most inconvenient back corner on all of campus, there’s a pull in park on red and then takeoff when csu police patrol parking lot, oh and you can get free scantrons and blue books there.
The meeting rooms are nice, but I’ve only been in one. Ever. Yes, in 5 years at this campus (to be fair — it’s the start of my 5^th year and I don’t take summer).
There’s a gym too, I should probably start going to that.. .

Gym, Study Area, Lounge, Conference Rooms, Snacks, other stuff I have not yet found.
This is pretty much the focal point of CSULA. If I was taking classes during the day with friends maybe we would meet here and hang out, but alas I take night classes and venture here only when I am doing some studying.
There is a gym in the basement, which is pretty cool. There is a two story bookstore that I like to browse and pick up books for other classes I am not in, just to advance my own personal education.
There are comfortable couches you can meet with your group and do your project.
Very nice place. Very clean too. CSULA, do a good job and maintain this!

The U-​SU is pretty good. I remember the grand opening and I was impressed with the whole building. There are so many places to study and/​or hang out with friends. I’ve attended many lectures, conferences, and events here and I am always pleased with the facilitates. The gym in the basement is always clean and I feel safe here.

Crappy school, did one quarter and got xfered out as soon as I could. No hot girls, no party’s, teachers suck, the only thing they have is parking because of the lack of students lol

It amazes me how the school and its students speak of government waste all the time, yet millions of dollars are wasted on this building. I understand some of its purpose, but the events held here tend to be very liberal, and the school is closed minded to those with a more conservative perspective, should you wish to reserve a meeting room. The elevators are hideously slow, and there’s always a pool of piss or a clogged toilet in the men’s restrooms — regardless of what floor you’re on. Overall, I’m not impressed with this SU and I’ve seen much better.

The University-​Student Union at CSULA is home to a variety of student-​centered services, activities, and opportunities waiting to be experienced by the students who not only make it possible but our jobs more meaningful!
Whether it’s a place to study, sleep, eat, get involved, learn more about yourself or other people, start a club, eat some more, watch a movie, listen to a lecture, play a game of pool, run on a treadmill, learn a new craft, take a quick nap, run a meeting, or admire the campus view, the U-​SU has it for you!
